- Hey guys!
As a jazz lover/student, the bebop vocabulary is a MUST listen/study. This really changed the landscape and gave way for more greats to create long lasting and influential vocabulary for the modern day jazz musician.
We take a look at some classic melodic movements and how scales/arpeggios can be combined strong melodic statements.

I'm a guitarist, learning and loving Jazz, but the tone and smoothness of your Bebop playing is awesome. I could sit and listen to just you playing bass - it is strangely meditative. Peace.
Bebop might sound complex but is built out of small simple blocks put together, however only few musicians dare to disclose and demistify them for others, you do it very well and I am immensely grateful for that, thanks !
Very nice phrases doesn’t matter if cliché
I just learned from this lesson how to flow. I immediately felt better. i had ideas. I will dive deep into bebop variations for some time. At last I think I have a chance to do a proper solo. You opened a door i can get through. At last. Thanks
Love the bebop lessons! Please continue
Cheers man! More to come in the future!
I'd be happy if I would even hear someone attempting bop lines.Nowdays all I hear on UA-cam is slap, pentatonic bullshit lines that never resolve.Great lesson Anthony.
Haha, i hear your sentiment. It's how bass players get attention these days unfortunately :) Cheers and thanks for the support!
@Davie504 . Such a hack.
What about bassists that can play bebop lines but still play a hefty amount of slap and tasteful, original pentatonic lines (Robson Albuquerque)
X H4r7 Dario deidda
But this lesson took my electric bass chops to another level thouggu
I *love* bebop vocabulary, I get never tired of it! Please do more videos on these concepts. Thanks!
I love bebop cliches.
This is great cause you break it down oooooh
Dude, again, you are really amazing. the vibe in your playing is really fluid and solid.
Anthony you are a good teacher ! I love your musical colours and lessons. Thanks
Thanks Isaac! Cheers
How does a master of the bass explain a style of playing so others can see, hear, follow and feel? Just like your doing. With Excellence.
So happy to see an amazing jazz voice from my own country! Keep up the great work, I've no doubt you'll become one of the biggest stars in the youtube bass world
Arjun Khanna thanks for the support and kind words! But I’m not indian haha. Thanks anyway! Cheers
@@AnthonyMuthurajah oh! Where do you hail from? Couldn't have guessed haha. Great playing again
Arjun Khanna I’m originally from Sri Lanka 😊 Thanks again for the support, cheers!
great lesson to have, a platform to build off cliches.
thanks bro!
Perfect pitch 1000%!!
So Essential! THX!
Great lesson, haircut looks tight too!
Bro. You are from another planet. It will take you a while but you will make a bass player out of me yet . following you is like chasing a bumble been. When I catch you it will be pure honey.
Nice lesson bro!!
Очень полезно !👍
by the way, good move on the haircut! looks good bro
Hey dude, this is an excellent lesson. I only have two questions: where are you playing as a bass player to get four solos in a set? Haha and how do you practise this stuff? I mean, you mentioned vocalisation, but is it pure repetition other than that?
Thanks! Well, I don't gig a whole lot out where I am but I do get a lot of solos thrown at me because I can take it haha. Always been the case no matter where i've played. And as far as practicing goes, take the ideas. Repeat. Transpose in different keys and apply on different standards. The vocabulary is universal to any bop standard and can kinda be used on the hard bop stuff too but I personally think the hard bop stuff needs more than just the bop vocab. Hope that makes sense haha
show de bola!!!!! dei like e seguindo ....som desse baixo e stop ++++++.... vc usa algum programa pra esse so d baixo fica sow d bola assim??? abrcs
yeah man
what about mmbop by Hanson?
nah man, must play the G**** funk :D
Really like your explaining, but please: When saying "really slow" it shouldn't be faster than 50 bpm to follow.
Надзвичайно цікаво!!!....🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦👍👍👍
4:07 = Isn't A7 the secondary dominant to D-7?
I think so lol. Like I said, I'm not great with technical jargon haha
@@AnthonyMuthurajah - I surprised myself as well!...;-))
@@ajadrew haha!
you seems a good boy with short hair! ;-)
I love bass but why are the strings so far apart?? :)
Bajo Electrico 😂😂 We need to take this up with the inventor of the instrument!
Try plucking a Fender Strat. Then you'll know why.
unfortunately orthis doesn't work for upright bass. Unless you got NHOP chops.
is your bass a short scale?
No.
bebop is a style not a cliché, if that were true jazz cliche are the same as pop gliche....everything is a cliche then?
primusfan6661 Bebop is a style like many other styles. But it has its signature sounds aka cliches. Pop, metal, funk, RnB. Every single style has it
Your lessons is great but you teach too faster so we can’t get things well
