This album is an incredible masterpiece. There is so much going on, in every cut, that you can't possibly comprehend it all in one listen. Repeated listens yield endless new discoveries. Almost Gothic but it's better than that! Do more my friend.
Love Steely Dan. My favourite track is their 1978 ‘single’ (45rpm) titled ‘FM (No Static At All)’ which has an awesome instrumental featuring Pete Christlieb on sax.
Given how often Steely Dan use guest guitarists, it's cool that Walter Becker handled guitar and bass duties on this track - a real pleasure to hear him play.
I have actually never heard this song before. It's very nice. What I love most about Steely Dan is all the small details that makes the whole picture of their music. And the voice of Donald Fagen is always nice listening to.

The first word in the song is "Teddy." As in Senator Ted Kennedy. The song is about Ted Kennedy, Mary Jo Koepechne and what happened in '69 on that bridge at Chappaquiddick in Massachusetts. HUGE news at the time! Jack was President Kennedy's, Ted Kennedy's brother, nick name.

Just be a good human and why can't we all hang out and love each other? IMO this is what this song is all about. you loved Rob Thomas and if you hear "Street Corner Symphony" I believe you'll think "That's what I"m talking about right there!!" It was released in 2005 but never has the world needed this message more than right now. This is an upbeat summer party singalong with a message that everyone's heart longs for right now. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
Everyone wondered if they could still do it, if they could match the old stuff after such a long break but with Two against nature, man, they smashed it out of the park!

Jamel. Please listen to the Pat Matheny Group playing "The Roots of Coincidence" from their album "Imaginary Voyage". Great music from great musicians.
I still can't believe you haven't reacted to "I Got The News" from the Aja album
Yeah! That's the one song he missed on Aja. Also features his good friend singing a verse.
Yeah - I dig that jazzy, off-key rhythm.
It's just wonderful to know just how much SDs music means to so many. And Will always continue to do so! 😊
Really pleased you enjoyed this as much as I do Jamal, a great track, and a truly great band,
This CD is in my car system on a regular basis. I’ve loved it ever since it came out and it was like a breath of fresh air then.
Please react to these Steely Dan tunes: Godwacker, Cousin Dupree, Any World (That I'm Welcome To), Your Gold Teeth, Gaslighting Abbie, Daddy Don't Live In New York City No More, Any Major Dude Will Tell You, Charlie Freak, Blues Beach, The Last Mall, Everyone's Gone To The Movies, Chain Lightning, Things I Miss The Most, and Slang of Ages.
I would love to see you react to Billy Strings "Dust In a baggie" !
Just make sure it’s the prob Thomas one and not one of the many covers
Everyone wondered if they could still do it, if they could match the old stuff after such a long break but with Two against nature, man, they smashed it out of the park!
Jamel, again you've got the meaning of this song. This was a new one to me, too. I liked the line about speed being a one way ride with speed at the throttle. This could apply to any obsessive behavior. 🤙
👍🏾really good groove but deep
@@jamelakajamal bi would love to see you react to the best of New Zealand songs. Classic like Till we kissed by Ray Columbus and the Invaders. 1960s.check out The Quincy Conserve. It's alright in the city, let's ride the Rain, and others that pop up on you tube. Alien Weaponry a new band a new member who has more Maori blood than the other two actual brothers. Tangaroa is the latest video. Check out Devilskin. A father on Bass Paul Martin son Nic on drums. His auntie Jennie Skulander is the vocalist with a great Guitar player Nail great videos, over the years. Little Pills,. Mountains, Pray, Jennie can go from a growl to a high voice. A sweet heart off stage married with a daughter. They are all really kind people. In the past they used to meet the fans after the show. Now it's a pay to meet and get a photo and laminate. For the extra fee. But they had photos with the kids of the fans wearing Devilskin t shirts with the band.. But so many good bands in New Zealand. Try Prince Tui Teka. A Prince before the American one. His song Mum or Ill silencio. Beautiful trumpet part. He was a big Maori guy a Comedian and singer. Blue Smoke. By Pixie Williams is a must. Old kiwi hit. We have more than Crowded House, and Split Enz Dragon were huge once they hit Australia. Check out Rain, April Sun in Cuba, those were the Young years. Are you old enough. Marc Hunter was a great front man. Oh check out Stevie Ray Vaughn and Midge Marsden Travelling on. The long version on stevie rays official channel. Made in New Zealand as an advertising campaign for a petrol station chain. BP. Filmed near the waiuru army base. On the Desert Road Central North island.
A pleasure to watch you enjoy what Steely Dan has to offer. Great reaction!
I love love love this band too..i was fortunate to see them before we lost brother Becker
I don't remember this song and I loved Steely Dan. Came in for a listen. Almost sounds like sit down old folks lounge music. lol It's got a little 'swing' to it.
Did this really come out in 2000?!? I didn't realize Steely Dan was still recording then. This was my first listen ever for this one. What a great groove!
It was their first album since Gaucho in 1980
And Aire of Good feeling by Quincy Conserve. (it was a Jam made from the Quince fruit. Before Pearl Jam haha but sounds like Blood, Sweat and Tears.. Look at Alistair Riddell in Space Waltz. Out on the Street. Is so David Bowie in the Glam Rock days. A band Ragnarok song Fenris. And more from the album. Living Force was a first Hare Krishna off shoot group Haribol. They did a metal Krishna album. Bizarre but beautiful guitar work. Orchestral sound.
I always thought there was a similarly between this song and Outkasts' song "SpottieOttieDopaliscious" .. When the horns played
Steely Dan was so entertaining for they were great music thanks.
Ahhh! More Steely! One of my favorites!
Cannot go wrong with steely Dan 🏴🏴👍
If you like this, then you should check out the 2013 album by Ed Motta called "AOR". There's 2 versions of this album, one in English and the other in Portuguese. There's also a current band called State Cows that does the Westcoast sound
Yes! State Cows
My personal favorite Steely Dan song.
I don't care which Steely Dan song you react to. Just react! They are in my top 5 of all bands.
I can listen to Steely Dan all day long some days
Finally getting to this album. Was awesome to see them tour finally that year.
If one can be a 'jack of all trades but a master of none,' then this is a song about someone who has indeed, 'jacked' himself due to speed.
You got the meaning right, Jamel. SD writes about life's seedy underbelly, often... and brilliantly.
