Well explained thank you. What about K nearest neighbour method? Does the method to be chosen depends on the type of data? Such as air quality data!

You can use nearest neighbor method especially if you think there is consistency of response before and after the missing data. It is not used as much as the others but again if you think the missing data is consistent with its neighbors then it is a perfectly acceptable way to handle it.
