Fun video, with lots of variety of finds plus family-related stories. :) ~ It's great to see a video with a parent out metal-detecting with their young child, getting them involved in the hobby. I bet Bentley was really glad to have his own little metal detector, even if he spent much of his time playing at the site. ~ Subscribed! :)
Hello. Im from and live in chittenden county and have been wanting to start detecting for years now but not sure what to get. I was looking at some garretts at maxx. Do you think those are worth the cost?
The real treasure is the moments, the time you share, and the stories you share with your son. Great video!
I agree... Time well spent that will grow in value as you bolth grow..
Amen to that. Time slips away and he will be grown. Enjoy!
💯
Lucky boy to have a father like you, can't wait for him to show you up
Some of the best days I’ve had was detecting with my dad. He’s now gone but I still detect and often think of him while doing it.
You are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful state with so much preserved history. Wonderful also that you bought the machine for you son for some father son time. He will remember these wonderful days.
Brad: “Don’t hit me with it”
Bentley: “why?”
Me: 🤣🤣
😂😂😂
I laughed too.
Brad you are a great dad, Bentley will remember this day for a long time.
My grandmother had some butter knives just like the one you found, Well, at least she used them for butter knives, she had "real butter" in a butter dish in the center of her table, and she always had one of those with it to spread the butter on things. I believe hers would have been from the late 1800s because she said they were her mothers. Hers had a W on them.
That is what it is. My Grandmother and Mother had it. Matter of fact it's still in our family. I remember them using it for "real butter" and Preserves
@John C I remember doing exactly that with that type of butter knife. Then we used the table knife next to our plate to spread it on your food
its a fish knife, use for eating fish.
The table knife looks like a fish knife.
Its defiantly a fish knife. What's strange its twisted 90 degrees.
Yes a fish knife but they do make good spreaders.
Yep.
Definitely a fish knife. We had a set which included the serving knife and fork. We had to learn to eat fish with them.
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought fish knife. Great video.
Glad you and Bentley had a great time
Metal detecting together.
I absolutely love your opening music! It calms my heart and my mind, hearing it, I know I’m about to enjoy a trek through the woods and creeks!
So now we know who's been leaving all the Bigfoot tracks around Vermont. Your Toe shoes.
😂😂😂
I guess that'd actually make him "Mediumfoot" and Bentley "Tinyfoot." :p :)
This video makes me miss my Pops even more than usual. Treasure your son every day.
Let us know how those shoes work out, Looking for a comfortable pair of shoes myself.
Just loved this! Such a great time to spend with Bentley!!! Awesome that the pond is low so you could find the cellar!!! Love the story on the grandparents and your name carving!! You have so much fun! Thank you for sharing with us your beautiful state and your family!!!! 🥰
What a precious little guy! And he found pottery too! Good eye already!
I’ve been waiting for this this father and son adventure! May the memories begin!
I absolutely love this! Although metal detecting is an activity done on one's own so much of the time, it is the sharing of that experience with others that makes it so special. I had 4 little helpers who live on a farm that I detected last weekend. I didn't find a whole lot that day, but it was so much fun to see the pure joy on their faces with every item we found. I recorded a video and was sure to have it edited for them to watch together as a family that night. One of them had a birthday the next day and decided to spend his birthday money on a detector. That's what it's all about! Congrats on sharing your passion with others including creating memories with Bentley. Jim Parry, Backroads Metal Detecting
Yep I’d say it’s a fish knife we have a couple of sets ourselves.
My thoughts exactly. You don't see them as much today but I know in Europe they are used as a part of a standard table setting.
In my opinion, you have the best soundtracks on UA-cam! Please let us know if ever you put them on iTunes/Spotify/etc.
PS: it’s great seeing you share your passion with your son 💪
Brad, great to see you out there with Bentley. Great find with the Largee!! NOT surprising not to see Bentley using his new machine much.... WAY to many rocks and logs to go climbing on and explore. I took the neighbor's son out, turned, saw his detector on the ground and couldn't find him until he yelled to me from about 20 feet up in a tree!!!!
Take care buddy.

Enjoy those times, I was taking my little buddy treasure hunting the other day. I blinked my eyes and now he’s 15. Good times🙂
That was similar to My little guy back in 1987 when We jumped in the 80 Impala and traveled to Ala. to see Grandma ,for over 6 hours
"Daddy are We there Yet " 😂 lol !
Keep making those memories
Great 🔍 finds That spreader was cool as was all the relics and coins this was a great experience
for Father and Son's first detecting
Oh my goodness! Bentley is just so darn cute!! What a super Dad!
This is one of my favorite videos now. Hes such a cutie and so smart. I can't wait for more videos of you two together.
Now that’s a memory. Congratulations to both of you on some great finds.
Your 'pencil' looks like a pencil used on slate tablets like I used as a small child in the mid 60's. Of course, they were in use for a very long time prior to that.
The best of times. ...memories in the making
And I want to thank you for making my first trip to your channel so enjoyable. :)
p.s. the Large Cent looked like a Coronet Head to me: 14:13
I found one of those lead pencil looking things at a confederate camp this spring.I wasn't sure what to make of it, but I kept it either way.I did move it from among the lead shot so as to not acquaint it with ammo after your assumption of a pencil.:>) I have several unidentifiables (to me at least),that I've dug at this camp, and I may never know. I keep it anyway. Thanks
What a great way to spend a day. So cool that you found all those treasures there. Awesome story about the old trees too. It cool that he got to experience that history before it's lost.
This was so fun to watch, I'm a empty nester. Bentley always brings a big smile to my face. I miss my kids being young they are, in their 30's now, they are still fun but it's different, then the Bentley age fun. What a cool, gorgeous young man, he is! You and Becca are great parents!!💝
I’m Kimberly Clark too! And we must be about the same age as all my kids are in their 30s too
@@kclark8281 that's so cool!!
Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure with us! When my son gets a little older, I plan on taking him metal detecting, too!
That's so cool and you have it documented. I hope we will see many more Martin men adventures in the future. What a great first time out metal detecting together. Great finds.
The real treasure was the adventure together ❤!
You guys make a great team, I can’t wait to see what treasures you unearth together next!
Great video as always, happy memories for sure. Bentley is a lucky kid you, are blessed.
That looks like a cheese knife my friend.....Great finds, love it!. Quality time with your son......................................................Priceless!
You're a good guy brother...no better person to share the hobby with than your boy. God speed sir.
Please go back a saw a portion of your log !! It’s Genealogy! A remembrance of this day with your son and part of your history! With Grandparents too. That’s the Best Treasure you found today on video that will speak and see all your smiles as you look and him ! And all the “Cheese” from Bentley and Chip eating. Great and Fun Day ! More treasures today than most hunts !
I used to take my daughter to the creeks here in the Napa valley almost 2.5 decades ago before cell phone video/pic's but I do have many still photos of the times, good for you Brad Martin✌️
I don't care who you are, that's magic right there. My youngest is nearly 20, but we still get away from the house for a 1/2 day of wandering through the bush looking for relics, I detect, he digs (much better on my old knees ;)
Sadly havent seen him acting with his detector but maybe he first must training it a little bit.nice day for son and dad°!
Finding treasure cool. Spending quality time with your son priceless!!
Merrell makes a really comfortable hiking shoe. You should cut the section of birch tree out where you carved your name out over 20 years ago.Great video!!
The treasure from today was you and Bentley together doing your and his favorite thing-being together. The time metal detecting is secondary, but not by much. Lots of great finds today including the butter knife. Bentley is evidently a good luck charm. We so enjoy when he and your wife are in videos. Buy the way, how are the chickens? 👦🏻 🐔🐔🐔🐔
Always the best art of my Friday. Somehow what you post helps me to unwind at the end of the week. Thanks Brad and family for keeping me grounded.💕
Bentley is the sweetest little boy, and very intelligent. And how lucky he is to have a father like you who teaches him to really SEE the world around him.
Your trip reminded me of going out with my dad looking for mushrooms.
He knew ones that were good to eat and not . The ones he was looking for, I think, were pink on the bottom. I would trust that as I was the age of your son. A very good memory of my dad .
Not a lot of memories as my dad died a month before my 6th birthday .
Liking the fossilized pocket knife! Lucky day. Thanks Brad
I absolutely love taking my boy. He thinks everything is worth lots of money and it's all treasure. Lol. It's awesome to see his eyes light up. Happy hunting
Awesome finds as always. We love large cents. Have a few in our collection but have never found any decent coins while detecting (we live in the inner city). Can't wait to get my boys out somewhere decent this year. You're blessed to be able to do that.
Great day with your son. Could that pencil shaped thing be an old hem or curtain weight?
Bentley is so adorable. So glad he and his dad have time together.
Hey Brad man little man is growing up quickly. He is so cute. I envy you so bad I miss the days when my kids were little. Everyday was a adventure. Enjoy every single minute of this time sad but true it won't last long. Great video bro God Bless.
Thank you for letting us enjoy Family Treasure hunting with Bentley. What a delight to see you're interactions.
Great finds guys. What a beautiful adventure to share with your son and make future memories . Great father Brad . God Bless thanks again for sharing your videos
I just love when you and Bentley go out treasure hunting. I just think he is the sweetest little pumpkin and to have his own metal detector.
Looks like fun, and great finds with your son! Family time in the outdoors is the best!!
You need to cut out that portion of the tree you carved. That would be quite the conversation piece.
Very, very cool! So wish I could take my granddaughter detecting.
Happy to see you out there with your son, little man looked like he was having fun. By the way, Good daddy sense 👍🙂
Great adventure. Since that tree is already down you should go and cut out that part with your initials and keep it.👍
Such a fun trip. Looks like Bentley really enjoyed the adventure.
giving an instant like alone for the intro itself.
best wishes from Germany
Is that stars and wings on that small button? Great hunt and Bentley did a great job! Definitely a classic fish knife, likely a server went with a big flat fork. Dishing your morning Kippers with.
The knife you found is called a "fish knife" maybe by the shape of the blade, but when serving fish you always used fish knives as a utensil.
Hey Brad lovely video... is that a coin at 9:07 at nine o'clock to the button? :) I've missed a coin before in my mudlarking videos. :)
The spreader is probably a fish knife. I found one a while ago at 1800s tavern. They were not commonly used. Great spot and great adventure with your son! ATB, Sebastian
So cute to watch Bentley playing in the cellar hole. I can see a future for you two metal detecting together.
Great way to spend time and make memories, he will remember this time with his dad, and maybe develope a life time hobby.
Great production and a good memory for Bentley.
Great finds, even better memories.
Your patience is admirable. Love the hunts Brad!!
When the light reflected off the large cents obverse, I thought I saw a matron head
It’s definitely a fish knife best wishes from the uk 🇬🇧👍👍
Agreed. Classic shape.
its a butter knife i own a couple
What a splendid day ! Nice 👍.
good video you guys. Good finds.
Fun to see MiniMe getting into treasure hunting!
🧑🌾🇨🇦🧑🌾 Visiting you from Gander Newfoundland and Labrador Canada!
What century are you from dude??? Mutton chop sideburns🤤🤤🤤really😂😂😂😂
BENTLEY ROCKS DAD
Bentley should have a UA-cam account of his own!
Hunting Tweasure with Dad. Great memories. Your videos are so enjoyable.
Thank You
Awesome adventure with your son! I believe that knife is called a fish knife. I know you thought it but didn't want to say it but that fancy button looks alot like a nipple! Great video! LFOD!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
"Took a trip to the local Pond" I live in the Desert of SW New Mexico and that "pond" is more water than I will ever see! (Without a day's drive) Anyway, really beautiful Vermont Countryside!
So cute you took your son out this time...You can not start them young enough to find treasures and loving the outdoors!!👍🏼 Great video with some nice finds....Bonus! HH and GL on your next adventure...Cheers from Canada 🙏🏼🍀👋🏼🇨🇦
Hello Bentley, "It's was me!" Cold. Dad and son! Awe
I would love boots like that! What amazes me is the condition of the dime and buttons, under water. some pretty cool finds! Until next time!
Bye Brad and Bentley!
You're a wonderful father. Smiling
I remember spending time with my Dad metal detecting. Bentley will look back on these times with fond memories some day.
You both thoroughly enjoyed your time, t H ats the best part, great beautiful place, great memories from your youth and family times
Hey Brad, Great adventure! Your "pencil" item looks like the small end of a golf tee? Maybe? Congrats on the silver coin! Happy hunting. I'll take your chilly weather - got to 100 here today. Take Care, Jim in Phoenix.
I've said it before, but your video skills are amazing. Like watching a big budget movie. Also Bently's tiny metal detector is the cutest thing ever...
Thats a pate knife from 1890's to around 1930's . Usually a sheffield england made an branded . Easy to tell with that handle tip design .
Hi Brad. We are rebuilding our shop here in Santa Rosa CA. It burned in the 2017 Tubbs fire. We are finally rebuilding after 3.5 long years of trying to get permits. This area has a long old history. While digging for the new fountain for our body shop we have found some very old items. I would love to send you some pictures and see if you can better identify them. One is a soup pot spoon handle I think. Another is a handle from an old box or trunk from 17-1800s as far as I can tell from my searches. Also a pice pottery that I think is an old soup bowl??? Do you have an email that I can send pictures to? Thanks, John
Been going back and watching some of your old videos. Just last night, I watched a 1 1/2 year old Bentley helping you out in Maine. They grow up so fast and before you know it, he'll be asking for a car. Thanks for sharing, brings back many memories.
One word of advice about the shovel....whach you don't cut your shoes if you slip when making pressure with your feet on the shovel....I've cut my boots a few times whilst digging and making pressure, stepping on the back of the shovel and slipping and cutting my boot on the edge. I have the cold steel shovel with sharpened edges. Good luck!!😉
Hey Brad it’s a fish knife. Hey Bentley great job detecting. You guys are awesome
Spetsnaz was Soviet special forces similar to our Navy Seals or the Army’s Delta Force; ordinary infantry they were not. Your Spetsnaz shovel should be quality equipment. Love it that you are sharing your passion with your son. Darlington, South Carolina
Cool hunt and the treasure you found went there with you and is so well spoken for such a little young man.............thanks for sharing a special day with your son!
