On a road trip when my magnetic sunglasses slipped into the small crack of the cup holder. Didn't know how I was going to drive in the SC sun. I pulled over into a parking lot and watched your video. Thanks! You saved my teip!
Wanted to give ya a like and a comment to say thanks. My debit card got shoved behind my cup holders and I couldn’t find anything to help me get it out until I seen this video!
Thanks Ooygin. This is awesome! There's a lot of stuff out there on the net, none of it hit the mark like your video did. Been trying to get it out for at least 2 years...give up each time because I don't want to destroy it. I have a Haynes manual for the vehicle which is silent on cup holder tray, but it will show you how to rebuild your engine ! Thanks a bunch. Wish I could help you with your radio...
I could not depress those tabs at all. I tried a flat blade screwdriver, a sykes-fairbain knife. I apparently need something with a slight upward curve to clear the edges of the plastic faceplate.
Try a using simple kitchen knife to depress the tabs. Pushing down on the tabs means lifting up on the knife handle. Do a little jiggling and it will come out. A sykes-fairbarin is great for sticking Nazi’s in the neck from behind with proper training of course, but I’m not sure how they would work for removing a cup holder.
You ever get this out? I've got the same problem and using two kitchen knifes didn't work. Mine looks nearly identical to the one in the video, but it does not seem to come out quite as far.
I tried for a long time. You need to have the cupholder in a bit and use a piece of flexible metal or plastic. What i did was slip a hacksaw blade in until i hit that tab, then push down on the front to raise the back on top of the tab. Do the other side then when you slide it out, the metal will push the tabs. I hope this helps. It was very frustrating.
@@allenkaufhold4387 Thanks, I actually took out the entire lower covering to install a 12V tap for a dash cam. If that comes out then it's easy to take the cup holders out.

To whoever needs to do this on their Mini Van there is 2 plastic fasteners easy to remove on each side of the enclosure, remove them and will be a better access for going inside that full cavity ….just push it to the front …
This helps me. Thanks. But don't use grease of any kind on the plastic wheels. The grease acts like a magnet for dust and debris and will plug up the wheels in no time. Let them run dry.
I don’t know. Perhaps it snaps out? I would start by removing the cup holder as described in this video and then you would be able to put your hand up inside and give it try from there. Good luck.
After taking out the cup holder, I ran my hand across the top inside and there's a squarish hole that you could put a couple fingers in but it is far behind the small cubby hole. The cubby hole is only about 5 in deep which is not as far back as the hole I found. Luckily I'm bored, sitting in the parking lot of a dentist office so I am trying to see if a pocket knife will wedge it out. I'm not worried about scratches because I'm keeping this thing forever lol If I get it out, I'll post an update.
You’re going to be mad at yourself when you finally get it out. Use a kitchen knife and finesse the hell out of it. The tabs aren’t at the edge; they’re about a quarter way in from each side.
I found that something flexible worked. Push the cupholder in a short ways, then you need to slide something up and over the tabs on both sides. Then when you pull the cupholder out, the tabs will be pushed down. I used hacksaw blades. A debit card might work, but i already lost one in there! Lol
I used a plyer to pull and push the tab out from the top on the right side because the other side would not come out as far. Also I only had to do the one side and the other side followed!

Abby Fletcher : You’re very welcome indeed. I struggled with that thing until common sense got the best of me.
Same here.
Was tricky, but I got it out after watching your video. Thank you sir!

fisherman889: Happy to help. And you thought that the Germans over engineered. It’s only a cupholder!
Thanks for this. Exactly what I needed

@@bpm990d i wound up having to loosen the cover myself. The cash card i was looking for had fallen all the way down. Found a quarter too! Lol
It worked! I found my wife’s lost card, I knew it had fallen back there!
Thank you for your diligence and sharing.
God bless

😆Life saver, thank you!!
THANK YOU! I almost gave up trying.
Thank you! I'm going to go try it right now!
Just use a kitchen knife.
Thank you sir. Now I know to pick up some lithium grease from Ace hardware before they close.
Thank you

You’re quite welcome, glad it worked out for you.
Thank you! Just what I needed to know. Does anyone know of a source for a new plastic insert?
Try an auto recycler - AKA junkyard.
Could you describe how to remove this small cupboard above cup holder?

All used grand caravans and town and countries come packed with spilled coffee. Its a selling point
