Bolted Joint Part 11 of 12 Thread Stripping

This check is not required for same grade nuts and bolts. Generally a nut has twice the tensile area of a bolt so a bolt fails in tension before the nut thread strips. This same safety factor of 2 on thread stripping is used to calculate the minimum length of engagement in a tapped hole.
