It's amazing, the actual release is already over just after his arm reaches the apex of it's arc (9.27)! The dart is starting to rotate just before the arm reaches the top of the arc. He threw his darts so they landed with the flight low, so the following darts would not be blocked by the earlier darts' flights and the target would be wide open for the next dart. No body movement during throw except the arm, no 'jumping', no tension anywhere except maybe his eyes, but he didn't even blink during the throw! No wonder he was #1 for so long! Who would have thought that such a short motion, from windup to release, would make a man a champion and a millionaire in earnings! Some long hours practicing pared his motion down to the absolutely essential! A true phenom!
Its crossed my mind, with the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, the less arc the better, longer distance more chance of reduced accuracy, his level entry darts have always fascinated me, particularly in that he is unique, and was the best...
Note that after release his forearm rotates so that the back of the hand is more or less facing up at the termination of the stroke. This relieves stress on the bursa in the elbow. Fascinating. I can not get enough of this video.
Phil Taylor is just a great player and a true ambassador for the sport of Dart. I would love to see his throw on a regular dart board, since I know that many players (me included) have a different style throwing on machine boards. I tend to focus on bringing my darts in vertical,- while on a regular dart board I can let my darts drop into the board with an angle. But thank you so much for these great shots. Nice to study....
I have my middle finger near point and index halfway up barrel. Only recently switched to this grip with finger on point but, once used to it, far more accurate. Gotta keep my elbow rock steady. Great vid. I notice Phil used at least 3 fingers and thumb.
Phill your my favorite. I really like watching you , what a great game it truly is , I’m getting better since I have watched you throw , had to start over , I was throwing darts wrong for years , so I shoot slow to keep my back shoulders and elbow in place for me to shoot straight ,I also throw with both hands , something my left is the best side , anyway my trade has given me the power to use my left very well , I now can shoot basketball, throw a base ball and football with my left , and shoot a game of pool , I want to be equally skilled with both hands , it’s a continuous work , but it’s great to do it with both hands , peace out thanks Phil
You'll note that with Taylor the force of the throw is absorbed with the shoulder and not the elbow. He likens it somewhat to throwing a punch. A true master at work.
Song name: Mister Chill'R - Divide This Love ;-) This is the original mix. I guess this one just sounds unclear due to the quality and is a bit slowed down.
One of my favourite darts vids, I would like to see an overhead camera shot too, to see the line of the darts travelling to the board. Awesome slow mo though : )
Its obvious everyones grip is unique, what I meant was the particular way Taylor holds the dart is more different than anyone I have seen before. Lots of people have common factors in how they grip, they are never exactly the same as thats impossible, but there is always similarities, I have not seen anyone else grip like Taylor. Bristow had an unusual grip, but I have seen a few who hold the dart past the barrel and on the shaft which is similar to him but the rest of their grip was not.
yes, you're right 👍..one amongst grip secret is shape of torpedo which is round & settle on thumb muscles which for some individuals is curved and this minute difference is 'completing' the shape of barrel and skin area under thumb! with middle finger, Phil adjusts the target point..here, he is locking in with little firmness and only then, he takes curved motion backwards & corrects sight & then, the pullback..with the grip mentioned, it's not hard.. there's no force but simple forward motion & just few centimetres from locked Target or sight, he releases (here, release is totally subconscious which comes from training and muscle memory) Darren, stumbled upon this vdo & your comment..I was practising what I typed and throw is actually landing on desired target edit : thumb muscle (plus curved part of skin) & torpedo barrel shape fills the thumb muscle area deficit & actually compliment each other resulting in the trajectory becomes straight and hit 🎯 edit 2 - what people do not realise is his grip is not at all firm ..and they get confused with follow up action which is or seems heavy but in reality it's shock absorbing
Great analysis. Taylor has simply eliminated all the nonessentials. Most of the lesser players whom I have seen seem to have at least one odd idiosyncrasy which interferes with their throw. The better players have taught their bodies to avoid multitasking while throwing a dart. "Wax on....Wax off" Simple stuff actually. Thank you, Mr. Miagi.
I throw right handed but I am left eye dominant. My right eye is next to useless and I have very slight double vision, I see an outline like a ghost image. Your best to stick with whatever your natural action is and just refine it over time. I throw somewhere in front of my right eye, but I am sighting the target with my left. So imagine a line going from your eye to the target and aim along that line, a good release and follow through are important though. Good Luck! : )
Wow.... It is beautiful to watch his throw. I do not play dart (but love billiards), I can see that nothing moves besides the forearm until he releases. It is similar to billiards where your forearm is a pendulum. In darts it is upside down. It seems to me that dart is perhaps harder to master because you must release the darts!!! In billiards you simply move back and forth. Anyway it is amazing how seemingly different sports are based on the same fundamental principles.
In all sports you do something that has the same connotation, it makes no difference what sport it is. The only problem is that in some sports, you don't see it and unfortunately, you also have misinterpreted a sensation for a long time. It's called Fostering a fallacy. . Oh by the way Taylor's throw is diabolical, however he does that certain thing. Lee Trevino had the worst golf stroke ever, but he also did it. Tiger Wood's has or had a terrific stroke, but that certain something is no longer synonymous with his game. Sad really, see what happens when you listen to coaches. The definition of expert= Nob-head, or Con-artist. FACT !!!!!!
Yes thats right, he is left eye dominant. I think he says he lines it up as if looking down the barrel of a gun, I often wonder with Mr T though how much he developed his technique deliberately and how much is natural? I dont knw the answer but I wish I was half as good as him :)
Just a question . When aiming with elbow 90 and before The pullback the dart is covering my visión so i dont see The dartboard.I only see the dartboard when pullback and release The dart.Is it correct ? Or must see throwing point when aiming ?. And what would Phil Taylor do? Thanks a lot
How does his head not move a literal pixel? If anyone's ever thrown darts, it's impossible to not move your had once you release due to the force. How does he do it?
Did you know that Phil also, or at least always moves his dart across the line of sight of his left eye? i don't know but maybe he's also left-eye dominant. at the very least, his left eye is very much a part of his play just before he throwes.
im sorry if u are sick and tired of hearing people ask this but i have to ask. What is the name of the song in the video and where can i get it. Plz reply anyone. Thanks
I'm darting about 1,5 year now and ive tried 50 kind of darts,flights,shafts..without no any result yeah a 50 average..I've bought the Phase 2 playing one week with this darts and my average went to 60 with 3 darts..Trying to trow like phil Taylor now after studying his trow and i notice that he trows his darts very loss at the board without any power with the result that the darts fly more in the 20..more advice is very welkom thanks..
why? this is based on technique. People who are a taylor fan, really want to see what taylors techniques are. For example: He holds his body perfectly still. You maybe don't understand because you don't play darts..
When you see how much the dart moves around in the air and all the other variables, it makes you wonder if it's magic or something the way he get just get 3 bullseyes so easily.
@32bom Ummm... that's great, man, but you first have to develop your own style before you can HAVE your own style. Your comment suggests (whether intentionally or not) that there is nothing that can be learned by watching great talents perform an act you want to be good at... Realize to be great you aren't going to just magically start off with the perfect form for you... adjustments in technique are necessary.
Interesting to watch, though his throw is pretty unconvential in some ways (e.g. the way the darts land and where he holds the dart in front of his face) and there's no point trying to copy it perfectly. Everyone should just throw how they're most comfortable - no two players throw the same.
It's amazing, the actual release is already over just after his arm reaches the apex of it's arc (9.27)! The dart is starting to rotate just before the arm reaches the top of the arc. Would be nice to see the different variations of release for double top , triple 20, bull and triple 19
For me, the most enjoyable throw to watch on Tv. Aims for the target
Note that after release his forearm rotates so that the back of the hand is more or less facing up at the termination of the stroke. This relieves stress on the bursa in the elbow. Fascinating. I can not get enough of this video.

i remember i once sat and watched phil play and it all of a sidden dawned on me that his head doesnt move a milimeter
I have my middle finger near point and index halfway up barrel. Only recently switched to this grip with finger on point but, once used to it, far more accurate. Gotta keep my elbow rock steady. Great vid. I notice Phil used at least 3 fingers and thumb.
look how still he keeps his head through the throw, amazing technique, amazing bloke tbf

Its really cool how the dart is already leaving his hand before the arm even reaches a 90 degree angle.. pretty sweet
I kept watching till the end, altough that was difficult. Great slow-motion cameras, and nice throw.

The Greatest throw of all time!!
When i did a search for Phil Taylor's Throw i didn't think i was going to look @ 9:27 seconds of him in slow motion.Bloody hell CrackingDarts.
Song name: Mister Chill'R - Divide This Love ;-) This is the original mix. I guess this one just sounds unclear due to the quality and is a bit slowed down.
the greatest athlete we will EVER see no doubt!
I never tire of watching these great slow mo vids, wish they would do them for more of the players. Any one know if their is one for Barney?
it looks so crazy how he releases the dart so early in his throw.
Absolutely perfect throwing form. I wonder if Taylor has his throwing arm insured and for how much.
I know, he has a unique grip too!
One of my favourite darts vids, I would like to see an overhead camera shot too, to see the line of the darts travelling to the board. Awesome slow mo though : )

@@tintinfromindia2103 Hello! :)
@@DartsReviewChannel :-) hello doc 😃 happy darting and still desceting phil secrets lol...good day, gr8 man
@@tintinfromindia2103 :)
aim and follow thru, only his arm moves. perfect!

every player is different a mensur suljovic jumps like a ballerina while throwing and is still successful in darts
I want to know how to use Phil Taylor Aiming.
Does he look at the target through the hole in his right hand with his left eye?
6:41
Looking at his hand and the dart, seems crazy.
Great video, cool to see it in such detail :)
I throw right handed but I am left eye dominant. My right eye is next to useless and I have very slight double vision, I see an outline like a ghost image. He actually spins the dart into the target from release
Wow.... It is beautiful to watch his throw. I do not play dart (but love billiards), I can see that nothing moves besides the forearm until he releases. Follow through (if you'll pardon the expression), no 'snatching' or jerking and you're half way there.
Oh - and hours and hours of practice...
Yes thats right, he is left eye dominant. I think he says he lines it up as if looking down the barrel of a gun, I often wonder with Mr T though how much he developed his technique deliberately and how much is natural? I dont knw the answer but I wish I was half as good as him :)
Phil the best on all times!
you need much faster shutter speed. This is just a blur.
didnt watch the whole vid did you
What everyone is looking for can't be seen from this vantage point,
Unfortunately then you have to know what you are looking for!
You could have the fastest shutter speed imaginable and it would avail you nought!
We also need 4K
@jedq I think it's Noodle Days by The Rice Eyes.
Imagine justin pipes throw in slo-mo?

Why does Phil Taylors flights look lower than the barrel at impact
How does his head not move a literal pixel? If anyone's ever thrown darts, it's impossible to not move your had once you release due to the force. How does he do it?
but how he holds the dart, i also own these ones but never can grab it like him...

Thank you very very much
love to see a adrian lewis like this
Finally... this is what I was looking for... since so many say there is no right to throw darts, why not take it from the best in the world?
ダーツを初めて三か月のプレイヤーです。

Will say Taylor's throw is quite hard to copy becos of his grip Raymond van barneveld has a much easier one to try and copy:)
RVB is throwing with Dartitis most of the time.
