You can use those stickers on top of the baskets to help with the algae growth. Aluminum foil also would work, just cut an area big enough to cover the basket with a slit to the middle and wrap around base of the plants. The light hitting the surfaces of the sponges causes the algae to grow, so any sort of something you might have to block the light should work. I’ve also seen people clean and reuse the baskets using cotton balls as the sponge material. I enjoyed your video! Thanks for the review ❤

Okay thank you, I was planning to clean the white baskets but didn’t know I could use cotton balls for growth medium with the seeds. Also to clarify, would I be covering just the sponge area with the stickers or foil to suppress the algae ? I need to take a look at more videos to find a cost effective method. Thank you for sharing that information.

The stickers stick to the top of the baskets, with the hole in the center where the seedlings pop up. I would cover any holes or seams where the light can get through with foil, because you don’t want a bunch of stickers all over your unit. I watch AeroGarden Experiments on YT, he has a lot of good information.

Great video. I just ordered mine and I am a complete newbie to this. Probably a silly question, but at what point can you start enjoying the herbs and lettuce

Yay 🤗 I’m so happy you decided to try it. I was new to growing hydroponically prior to receiving this item. From my experience it takes about a month for my lettuce, kale and basil to reach full maturity. For the kale I can just pinch off what I need and more keeps growing and for my basil just after the first 3 set of leaves I like to pinch the middle to force my basil plant to become bushier. It really is a hands off type of gardening once you get them going ! I hope you enjoy your new system ! ♥️
