    Check out the water storage options we discussed here: www.cityprepping.com/waterstorage. Here are a few other items we cover in the video:
    * 55 Gallon Drums: amzn.to/39dqXLp
    * Small water containers: amzn.to/3iKWU10
    * Water bob: amzn.to/3sUro56

      Thank you for putting this together! Several options you covered weren't on my radar but they are now.
      Regarding the 'water bob is a one time use and not worth much when SHTF' - I would suggest that even after SHTF you could use them for storing water from your catchment systems [after you've filtered/treated it obviously]. For those people who have very limited space, the bathtub is a perfect place to store water after SHTF. When the grid is down no one is gonna be using the bathtub for anything but storage space anyway.

    It is Sunday night and I am going back over several videos I have watched today! I will have to say I just found you recently, but am very impressed with your videos. You are very professional and Thorough, I became a Boy Scout in 1962 and put my first backpack together with knife, flashlight, poncho and so on. In the fall of 1968 I became a marine and went to Vietnam. Home from war I still keep up the Boy Scout mentality. ( Be prepared ) I was Labeled a survivalist? Now the catch phrase is prepper. In 1988 I left my job and bought a farm where I went all out to make it off grid and self sufficient. In April I turn 71, where I practice the Gray man view. When I go to Walmart in my bib overalls driving a 1988 dodge minivan full of trash, I am laughing all the way. I made my Fortune in Real estate around Branson Missouri in the 90’s. I was raised Baptist but for nearly 25 years I have be attending a mennonite church. I say all this to say you are doing a good job, keep up the good work! 👍😊🇺🇸

      I am a Christian who also believes this. But God also gave us the will to survive and wisdom to use our wits and knowledge available. People have been preparing for thousands of years, all cultures. Humans have always prepared for lean seasons, and when resources and weather are unpredictable. As a modern culture we have forgotten to do this, and falsely believe we’ll always have what we need coming out of the tap, from the grocery store, or gas to get to these things. Not to mention available funds. If the power grid goes down or is attacked, none of these things will be accessible. Dont just assume we will be raptured out of here without any struggles of our own first. Our enemy nations are actively planning such attacks, a low cost, effective option to war for them. As a Christian I want to be able to provide for my families needs in such a time, and even to minister in love to those that don’t believe.

    I hadn't seen the 20 gallon Wurx option that's nice. My limiting factor on the bigger ones has always been whether I could move them once full. The most I can do on my own is the 7 gallon option which we then also use when we go camping. I like the 2 handles on these so that someone could assist me hauling them from the storage area to the kitchen. One thing I learned that I didn't know, is that the Water Bob was 1 time use only. Just an additional item. 2 liter or 64 oz plastic pop bottles are a good choice. I use clear ones, but they are stored in the dark. They can be washed, they do not add bacteria as milk jugs tend to. The caps are quite solid. They are portable if you have to refill them at a creek or lake. If you fill them with rough filtered bad water you can leave them in the sun for the UV sterilisation. It you leave some head space then in the winter you can freeze them to gi e you some refrigeration (for things you don't want rock hard). And the Sawyer mini filters screw right into the tops to give a good filter if you need them.
    You do need a temperate dark place for them.

    Cheapest and easiest option to start is to just order 5-gallon water jugs from nestle or ozarka or whoever offers it in your area - they're usually about $7 each, come filled, delivered to your door, and are sealed. Add a Dolphin pump to pump it out. I keep about ten on hand and rotate them as we go through them for normal drinking water. Replacement caps are cheap, and there's nylon strap/net kits you can buy to move them around easier, or just use the included handle. I'm in an apartment right now so this is still the best option for me - they're all stacked on one side in a closet.

    An excellent overview, thank you! - We always have a constant "backlog" of sealed 5-gallon water jugs for drinking water (distilled, we have vitamins too). As we go through jugs, new ones come in (at the end of a rotating stock) to keep our inventory filled. As this is part of our daily water consumption we know how much it takes us to last X amount of time, and so we can decide on how many we want to keep on hand (in a cool dark basement). You cannot predict "when" something will happen; and so we never got worried when it did in the past, knowing we had at least three months of drinking water on-hand before "things get more complicated" while others rushed in stores to find these. In the end, it is no extra expense at all right? This is just an accumulation of "something" that you do need, and that you will use at some point. Currently evaluating options for something additional for a longer run, but a good start for us, for now.

    IBC Tote is the best if you plan on staying in place. Very good value, up to 330 gallons each, and can be moved using a hand pallet jack. Make sure to buy new or rebottled. Used means the bottle was most likely used for harmful chemicals and cannot be used for drinking water ever.

    These are a must-have if you live in an area without natural water. Luckily for me, I live next to a river, I know how to distill water, and I also live in an area where there are LOTS of underground water sources. On a related note, try to get your hands on a map of underground water sources. Kind of tricky, and needs some knowledge about the subject, but at worst just get the necessary knowledge in a book, put it on a shelf with the necessary equipment. Ground water around here (Hungary, Europe) is close enough to the surface that all I need in real desperate situations is a shovel.

Obviously you would want to preferably use it for one or the other and not both... though I guess if properly clean out they could potentially be used for both... This supply will get us all through a few days where drinkable water isn't available. That said, we live right along a river, so water is just outside our door. Treating the river water will not be difficult for us to do. Our current goal is to bug in for as long as possible. Hard to leave such a great source of water and food.

    Wait. Is it hot or cold. Sorry. Just had to.😂
    Anyway, I have a WaterBob. I’d considered water bricks but, I think someone posted in a comment section that one of their water bricks just would not stop leaking, no matter what he did. So, as I live in a 2nd floor apartment, unless I wish to reacquaint myself with the lady downstairs, the water brick might not be a good option for me, unless stored vertically.
    I also have a LifeStraw and keep a few containers of bottled water here, mostly distilled, which I bought at Target as, the containers might have a thicker wall than some of the other options out there that look like the average milk gallon container.

    Cheap and easy way for those on a budget. Milk crate, holds 4 one gallon food grade milk jugs. they are stackable and easy to move. I am not worried about any UV light since these are kept indoors, and if need be you can always cover them with dark material.

    • @mwahl1686
      @mwahl1686 Рік тому

      The plastic used for most milk jugs and gallon water jugs in the U.S. is created intentionally to break down in a short time frame, so these containers eventually leak. Target's store brand of gallon-sized water comes in a much thicker plastic bottle, which is similar to the name brand water companies' gallon-sized bottles, but costs less (Arrowhead is one brand-name water company with thicker gallon-sized plastic bottles). The thicker plastic bottles will stay intact longer than milk-jug-type plastic.
      Unfortunately, the Target bottles are round, compared to the rectangular bottles the name brand companies use, so if squared-off storage is desired, the higher priced name brand bottles will be the ones to buy.
      Hope this info saves a mess if anyone is storing/considering storing water in these gallon-sized containers in areas where leaks would be a concern.

  • @tomj528

    I went with the 7 gallon Aquatainers because they're portable. If we have to leave I can grab a few along with food, clothes and even the small fireproof safe that has our valuable documents in just 20 minutes. It's not chaotic because we have a well rehearsed plan but it's pretty strenuous as I've got to make several trips up and down the stairs and those full water containers are still pretty heavy. I also have a some 2 liter soda bottles as well but we don't drink soda any longer so we don't have a lot of them.

I bought used barrels and discovered they weren't up to my specs. Non the less it would work for dishes or flushing the toilet.

    The water bricks I have are tough but leak until the seals are broken in. Also you will only get half your water out unless you tilt it due to where the lid and valve are centered on the jug. Water cubes hold 5 gal. And are heavy to carry very far and they leak too. Must take your water out and store upright. These I have been using as I am having problems with my well now. A great buffer until other solutions materialize.
    Yep.

    Oh, I set up my 55 gallon water storage on their side with a clear hose connecting each of them so it will drain the first one and the top one will automatically drain down. The problem is after treating the water in the clear hose now there is some orange it looks like possibly bacteria that has grown in there, but I don’t know how to treat it or fix it. I have pictures I can send, but I don’t know how to post them on here. There’s anyway to treat this to get rid of it to make that water safe without draining the water.
