Fall Antique Booth Reset | Adding New Vintage Farmhouse Finds & Upcycles | How to decorate for fall

  • It's the most wonderful time of the year! Almost. Yes, Christmas is truly the best, but I LOVE the transition of summer to fall. The heat breaks; I can pack away the shorts and pull out my sweaters, jeans, and boots. It's the perfect time to grab a new book from the library, buy some coffee, and find somewhere outside to sit with the trees, their autumn colors on full display. No sweating. No mosquitos. Sounds wonderful. Can you tell I am over August?
    Today I'm working in my antique booth Green Onion Vintage located at My Treasure House in Edwardsville, IL. It's time for me to bring in my first wave of Fall inventory and take out anything too summery. I marked down some of the lighter colored furniture in hopes that it will sell and we can feature a truly fall-inspired booth. Hope you enjoy seeing me work in my booth and the booth tour.

    OMG! What a small world! I grew up in Collinsville, Edwardsville, and Granite City. I went to Elementary school in Edwardsville, then Edwardsville Jr High and then grades 9-11 at Edwardsville High School. We moved my Senior year to Granite City and that is where I graduated from HS. I now live in GA.

    The blue and white plaid dresser was my favorite. It gave me butterflies to think that I could have done that to a piece in my house instead of throwing it away. You priced it beyond reason. Everything in your booth was lovely. I still have a dresser left to use the drawer fronts as shelves and the sides as shelves above my laundry. Ttere's hope every time I see your booth.

    Hi Nicole - it looks so lovely. My favorite is the first piece and vignette with all your Amber Glass, the green stool and copper pieces. Love the whole group…YES the cabinet probably the most ! I will take it all if you shipped! LOL!!! Does the cabinet have 2 shelves inside or one. I have loved that piece since the first time I saw it in your Booth. The wood tones is beautiful…now with the Amber glass, copper and green stool ….. it just completes my love for it ! 🧡🧡🍁🍁🧡🧡

    Your booth is beautiful! As a customer, I’d be dropping some cash in there! I like how your booth is full - but not cluttered. I don’t know about other people, but when I walk by a booth that has a zillion little trinkets, it just makes my mind go into overload. And too little makes me think it’s probably not even worth going in. But yours is perfect and the Fall vibe is definitely there. ~Linda

    • @GreenOnionVintage
      @GreenOnionVintage  3 роки тому +4

      Hello! That's actually a card that the shop owners place in everyone's booth, so it is a text list for the store, not just for my booth. They run specials and sales, so customers will get a text when a sale is coming up. Customers also get a coupon for their birthday. I know they use a marketing company to oversee the text club so unfortunately I'm not a ton of help!

      Hi Brenda! The shop we're in has made it very easy----my mom and I have completely separate accounts at the shop (she has her own set of barcodes separate from mine), so she has her own paycheck at the end of the month and I have mine. We split the rent. We purchase our own items with our own money, so essentially it's like we have our own mini-businesses under the Green Onion Vintage umbrella. Let me know if that makes sense or if you have other questions!

    This is random,but I’m thinking of getting a Cricut. What do you recommend?.

    • @GreenOnionVintage
      @GreenOnionVintage  3 роки тому

      I've been using my Cricut Explore Air 2 for nearly 4 years. I've liked it a lot and it's really what inspired me to get a booth---I was making signs almost immediately and was looking for a place to sell them. I recently got the Cricut Maker 3---the series 3 machines are much improved from the series 2. I'm actually making a video about the Maker 3 soon, but until then I would definitely recommend investing in the newer machines as they can cut up to 12 feet if you use their smart materials, without a cutting mat. Before, the longest cut possible was only 2 feet and you had to use a cutting mat. I'm just learning about the new Maker 3 and Explore Air 3 but it sounds like the improvements are amazing and the possibilities are endless. The Maker is the more expensive machine as it can cut over 300 materials and has many more tools to choose from. It also cuts faster. The Explore Air 3 is the more basic machine. I will have more Cricut videos for sure---I've kind of gotten out of the habit of using it but I'm excited to play with the new Maker!

    Hi on average how much profit does your booth bring in? Trying to decide if I should do one.

    • @GreenOnionVintage
      @GreenOnionVintage  3 роки тому +1

      It's been a really tough year with Covid. There are also a lot of expenses that go into a booth, including rent and commission, but also the price you pay to purchase your inventory, the gas you spend driving around to buy it all. We've had some very slow months lately and tend to do the best around the holidays. In all honestly my booth has only profited a couple hundred dollars on average this year, with a couple exceptionally high months averaged out with some very low months. I actually think doing a market a few times a year might be more profitable, but then you have to do the labor or loading and reloading for a short-term event and often have to man your own booth. If you go back in my videos a few months I shared a sales recap of my booth, I haven't done one since I had my baby in April but it might help you out to go watch those.

      I think we're balanced and mindful about how much we paint. We don't paint anything unique, truly old, or in great condition. Typically we paint pieces that are damaged, are already covered in an ugly veneer, or are made cheaply and would benefit from some added personality. We do our fair share of sanding and showcasing the natural wood when possible 🙂
