  • Today we take on all kinds of street food in Manila, Philippines. It was amazing! We enjoyed a great street food tour and tried foods we have never experienced before. We also tried the challenging street food Balut, just like on the Amazing Race! You’ll have to watch how that turned out. We loved our Manila Street food and can’t wait to come back and try again.

    My husband and I lived in the Cavite Province just south of Manila for 8 months in 2022. Watching your food tour was fun but there are so many other great Filipino foods that aren’t ears or intestines. Haha. I love lumpiang and turons. Our neighborhood grocery store made fresh turons that I could never pass up. With the bananas they also included jack fruit or ube(purple sweet potato). Wow. Made me really hungry watching you eat. Cheese on everything also surprised us and I’d never heard of cheese ice cream (or ube ice cream) until I was there. Thanks for sharing and bringing back great memories.

    This video was so interesting!!! I’ve eaten a few of the foods you’ll tried growing up, the tripe, boiled to tenderize, egg dipped, then flour, and deep fried, it was so delicious! Chittering I grew up on, no longer eat either; but with chittering we clean them so well, you would never taste any grit. Not sure, I’ll say maybe it was a season they used. I’ve enjoyed liver, chicken, pork and beef, as well as giblets, stewed and deep fried! That last tasting, the egg, I’ve heard about, and wondering if you’ll could see the baby chicks inside? Hanks for sharing, this was very, very interesting and I would have tried several dishes too! 😇😋😋

    I love your videos and have been following them since day one. I own a video production company and have a suggestion for you: when you pan the camera around, there is always a shudder issue that causes stuttering of the pictue....hard to watch as a viewer. To eliminate that, "pan" slower. Then, in post-production, you can always make a cut in the clip and advance it to the next area of interest in the "pan" using a dissolve to smooth the transition. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good reviews....I'm jealous.

    • @livingphase2
      @livingphase2  Місяць тому

      Thank you so much, I really appreciate that, and know that is one thing that I've been working on as our videos are progressing. I'm always balancing between shooting a video and trying not to be disruptive to anybody else around us, and sometimes that makes me move the camera a little fast. I'm working on slowing that down, but I'm also working on when I see that doing a post-production slow motion and video stabilization processing to try to fix that issue. But I do appreciate the comment and the help. We can always learn. 😄

    • @pasadenagruber1959
      @pasadenagruber1959 Місяць тому

      @@livingphase2 Yep, I totally understand that one can get a little self-conscious when taping in public. I also understand not wanting to be intrusive. Adjusting the shutter speed to twice the frame rate will help. However, your videos are enjoyable, and I am sure that nobody but me even notices the stutter. After all, I am a video nerd. Keep up the good work and continue to enjoy the journey.

    Sorry to bring this up however I noticed a mark on the top of your head! Not to be nosy just concerned because I have had basil cell carcinoma on the top of my head! Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about! I absolutely love your videos! I lost my husband on June 5, 2021 and we had gone on 6 Disney cruises and I miss them so much! Trying to get up the nerve to do a solo cruise perhaps through Triple A some day! ☺️

      That's really lovely of you to ask. It happened to be that I bumped my head in lombok Indonesia on a low hanging corrugated tin roof while I was walking to talk to one of the boat drivers. It's all healed up and better. However I'm fair-skinned and always very careful with watching for any type of skin cancer and have regular checkups with the dermatologist and also use sunscreen. So yes I do understand and really really appreciate your concern. You're so sweet thank you. 🥰

      We'd also like to offer you our condolences for the loss of your husband. We have several friends on this world Cruise who are solo Travelers and a couple who lost spouses just before the world Cruise. I think getting back out into the world with other people is a difficult but wonderful way to move on with our lives. I think that that's what our spouses would always want for us to not stop living our lives. You are in our prayers, and we wish you all the best

    My father talked about baloot (sp?) From his time in the Philippines during WW II. He never tried it. I'm not sure I could either.
    I would probably taste everything else but may not eat it all.

      In the six months of the cruise both needs to have probably put on about 5 lb or so. We've been going to the gym even more and walking more here recently to get back down to our starting weight

    Looks like a fun place to visit! The food tour looks super great too, but be honest, after all that fried food, weren't your stomachs revolting? If not, good for you because mine would be! QUESTION: Regarding the ATM withdrawls......I have a local bank debit card. One that's only available in my area of the states. That's what we use for our day to day purchases. Would we be able to get cash from a machine overseas with that kind of card?

    • @livingphase2
      @livingphase2  Місяць тому +1

      That's a great question about the ATM card. You're going to want to talk to your bank you need to be part of an international Network like plus and Visa, you're also going to want to make sure there's no foreign transaction fees or what kind of fees they have for outside of network withdrawals. What we have is a card from our financial institution that refunds all ATM fees and charges no transaction fees so it works great for this type of trip. Best thing to do is talk to your bank. Thanks a lot for watching and falling along hope that was helpful. 😀

      @@livingphase2 It was quite helpful! I've never come across this topic before and well, I haven't traveled out of the U.S. much either so it hasn't been an issue. But now I might, since being recently retired and I want to be prepared. Thanks so much! I watch every episode.

    Puto in the Philippines isn't a curse word, it's not even related to that Spanish word... it's a rice cake which is related to other similar rice cakes in Southeast Asia, such as Putu in Indonesia and Puttu in India.

    I have to ask - have either of you had upset stomachs along the trip? I’m so sensitive to foods and different bacteria in certain countries and wonder how other people’s stomachs do. I envy those with strong stomachs!

      Not uncommon in many places as they're trying to sell their wares. As we've decided they're just trying to make a living and we can always just say no. But it can be a little uncomfortable.
