Now that the Bears are committed to drafting a quarterback, I have a real interest in your breakdown of these hot prospects. You are the gold standard!!!
Awesome show! I have never told you this but I finally get to tell you. I’ve always been a huge fan and have alway rooted for your success and blessings to you and your family. Thank you Kurt ❤
well...if you watch the lsu bama game as a tale of 2 halves...lsu made adjustments and gave them a run for their money. So he proved he can get better in a game that is not really going his way. Most of these QBs dont have any tape vs pro style D...it is just them throwing to wide open dudes or in mayes case into the dirt 5x a game lol@@theacgkid
True, but I think as an evaluator you have to be more focused on what might go wrong and how to mitigate it. I don't think he chooses mostly "bad" plays for the purpose of making these kids look bad, but because these are the things that will most determine their level of success in the NFL. "Everyone's good out here is good. But how good is your bad?" - Tiger Woods
You said no chance on the deep fade route to nabors when it was actually a catch in bounds. So are you really watching the film before podcast breakdown, or are you seeing things in the moment for the 1st time ?
Yea that frustrated me too because that was a pinpoint pass and a huge completion. Seems game situation doesn’t seem to matter either when they should, tells you if a QB is clutch or not
This is the best defense any of the top 3 QBs faced and Daniels did very well against it. The other two struggled against Notre Dame & Clemson. I feel Caleb is better though, but Drake is a massive risk
Unlike the other two, he has time to throw, even against Bama... You put Williams or Maye on this LSU team and they would have played for the national title.
@@torrenceperry2121No they wouldn't have. That's delusional. Caleb Williams would be in a world of hurt against SEC defenses and Maye would too. Maye is erratic and Williams needs to learn to check down and fix his footwork.
I hope he gets drafted by Washington but biggest question is- was Adam Peters affected by Trey Lance being a bust (so far). Kurt Warner seems far more complimentary of Jayden Daniels than he was of Drake Maye and maybe even Caleb Williams.
LSU oline on alot of these either were standing straight up making middle of the field throws dangerous (batted passes) or they were getting pushed into JD's lap
Weird game, the offense was a little off, still Jayden had 390 yards after the 3rd quarters. Jayden had a 30 yard run called back and the recivers dropped several balls, should had 450 yards after 3 quarters. He still would’ve had close to 500 yards had he finished the game.
I appreciate K.Warners breadown... Ive seen him and many other greats miss reads & passes bad... Can he lead, put a team on his back and learn from his mistakes... Living at the facility, adding 15lbs & sliding will determine his success... I like Drake Maye but I think it will take him 4 yrs to get right by that time, if we dont win...another regime may be on their way in...😢
I would love to see Kurt's take on what I think is a severe lack of arm strength by this guy. he looks like he really has to labor to push the ball outside or upfield, throws high floaters that take forever to get there. I don't like this guy from a pocket passer standpoint, Maye has a stronger arm but he's got his issues as well. I really wish there was a clear cut favorite like Stroud this year.. but no such luck.
He will need to adjust to playing on bad olines . Especially the top 3 teams will make his life harder vs what you see in college. That lsu oline and wr should get alot of credit as well, they dominated just like him . Great college career but the nfl different. Hopefully he doesn't take alot of hits
I don’t think alot of these teams are blitzing him b/c of his elite ability to shred defenses with his legs. They likely have a spy on him too. Which allows his WRs to win and his line to only handles 4-5 man rush.
Has anyone else noticed this? Why do is throwing body mechanics look. . Mistimed? Like his arm is so weak. His arm is like a byproduct of his abrupt body twisting motion, he doesn’t “drive” the ball. It’s like he’s leaving so much power on the table, if he just had better arm extension to whip the ball forward stepping into it and snapping the wrist. Take a look Mr Warner.
I really think teams should think hard before they take any over hyped quarterback. If these quarterback could not improve in last 4 years, then why should be it on teams to make these improvements. On a s serious note, no teams should take a quarterback if their quarterback picks lot of work and they don't have personnel to make those improvements.
My thing with Daniels is that he doesn't throw to the middle of the field that much and almost everything is to the outside, which is easy when u have the arsenal he had last year, his fifth and only good one..
@@HpcZclan you see the space NAber, Thomas Jr and his recievers are creating? Drake Maye didnt have guys that created that at all this year. Drake Maye is probably more comfortable throwing into those NFL tight windows
I would recommend the tape analysis from Cold McCoy. There are a few throws where he's able to layer over linebackers in the middle of the field. Impressive!
Daniels had 2 ELITE 1st round WRs and an ELITE OLine. Whereas, Caleb had very average weapons and a bad Oline. Tape shows that even with all the talent around him, he still can't process and read his progressions like like Caleb. And his elusiveness and feel for the pocket is far inferior to Caleb. There is a sizeable gap in terms of skill sets from Caleb to Daniels.
As a Bears fan These are a bunch of throws that I don’t see Justin Fields or Caleb Williams (junior year) attempting to throw. They hold the ball and then just scramble against tight coverage. Maybe Caleb did it his sophomore year. But it scares me when I don’t see QBs throwing balls against tight coverage on time. They’ll throw a deep ball and wide open drags but turn down timing routes (curls, comebacks digs). Jalen shows an ability to see NFL open wrs.
Watch Caleb’s tape he does make tight throws and for Daniel’s it’s way easier when you have multiple first round talents on your offense , put Daniel’s on that usc team he’s not gonna be nearly as good
What’s his upside? he’s been in college forever the best teams he played FSU Bama he went away basically 2 nfl college type defenses accuracy is big in the nfl he better tighten especially as a top 5 pick
@@savage4242 You have to factor in his running ability, which is clearly the best of any QB in this draft and has elite grades on each short, medium, and deep passing. I agree about the arm talent and ball placement issues, but then we can also have that same conversation with Drake Maye about the same problems. Jayden is a more well-rounded QB, but I expect him to struggle early on as I feel he isn't great at reading certain coverages, and his footwork is inconsistent in the pocket.
Lamar 2.0 and RG IV , can't throw ......but athletic, nuff said. If Skins take Maye at least they have a shot at a Rivers or Herbert with proper development
