Another thing is that while it is a show set in a fantasy realm, a lot of technology we see in the show is consistent with a medieval time period, probably 1200s or 1300s. That said, they had wheels then, and chairs too, so the idea of a wheelchair at that time (or in a realm consistent with that time period) isn't that farfetched.
