I can’t get enough of these two in that short term memory theater sketch. Bill is the one who can’t stop laughing. It’s set in the 1950s and Fred walks in wearing this big puffy 1980s parka.

@@leopardspots2004 it stands for upright citizens brigade, which is an improv & sketch comedy group from chicago. snl has occasionally sought out potential new cast members from there, so lots of ucb alumni have also been on snl (such as horatio sanz and sasheer zamata). amy poehler was even a founding member of ucb in 1990 :)

I knew he wrote for a while on SNL but had no idea he made it into any sketches. I was surprised to see him.
@@bodelawrie7217 He always shows up at the end of the sketches where Bobby and Cecily think they are about to get fired, so they go off on all of their co-workers the whole time only to find out that the manager wasn't going to fire them but the guy who Tim Robinson always plays. I don't know why but him showing up like that always makes me laugh, too, and it doesn't help that the first time I saw that sketch is the one with Kevin Hart playing the manager and he is solid as a rock the entire sketch but then completely loses it the second that Tim shows up.

I feel like it is under-appreciated every time Bill Hader yells "Santy Claus" in the children's faces.
the whole thing is so full of brilliant moments and character breaking that it's hard to appreciate it all
the kids were the most professional ones here and even they had trouble keeping it together when Bill was screaming "SANTA KLAUS" close up to their faces :D

I don't think anyone gives the kid at the beginning of this skit enough credit, he's literally sucking back laughter while Fred freakin' Armison cracks up in his face (1:40) I hope he looks back at this with pride.
In my opinion, and I've watched this clip many times, the kid is totally unimpressed with Armisen's laughing. He's a kid.The humor in the silliness is probably going totally over his head.

They don't usually lose it this much, but this was a dress rehearsal. But they do lose it; watch the "Californians" sketches. Or their interview (along with Seth Meyers) at the 92nd Street Y about "Documentary Now."

@@jackv9755 UCB stands for Upright Citizens Brigade, which is an improv/sketch comedy group originally from Chicago. Bobby Moynihan was a member before joining SNL. It’s funny because the idea that a foreign doorman would be familiar with Bobby Moynihan from his UCB days is extremely unlikely.
Also just the way he says it is funny.

This sketch introduced me to UCB and I wound up taking classes there in NYC right before Covid hit...the training center wound up closing because of Covid so I was one of the last classes to come out of it

I’ve no idea what was *supposed* to be funny about this sketch, but I do know that watching Fred and Bill cracking up was great.
I wondered if maybe each of the stories was supposed to have a dirty or funny twist like the Frosty-has-three-balls story did. Half the dialogue was incomprehensible, so it's impossible to tell. But it was fun watching the rehearsal fall apart.
@@kitwillihnganz5972 I have this theory that they are both seeing their lines on Q cards for the first time. Hader did that for his Stefan character on weekend update in later years. It's plausible....

My theory is that after realizing the sketch is terrible the last resort to save it is to just laugh in hopes that laughter creates laughter.
I'd have a panic at snl not so funny sketch too so I'd probably laugh even more

this is my favorite skit of all time. it literally needs to be a christmas tradition where bill and fred return every year and the host of the xmas episode interacts with the two doorman struggling not to laugh. all time great.
The image of the kids moving frosty into the sun, "no no dont do this" , makes me fall around laughing :)
Like how Vanessa gives that head tilted smile as Hader struggles through his lines.
Its one of the most beautiful things Ive seen.
Vanessa almost NEVER breaks. What’s genius about that look is that it looks normal, but I bet it’d make whoever she looks at break even more.
She does move in closer and stares more intently which, if you go back to other skits where Bill breaks she's sometimes right next to him and will move in closer, will try to lock eyes with him, all because it makes him uncomfortable and more likely to break. She's one of those women who at first glance isn't all that attractive per se but watching her she becomes more and more beautiful in her mannerisms and smile. A five who can jump up to a solid eight.
whenever I'm stressed and can't sleep, I just watch this video and it just makes me so happy. God bless Fred Armisen and Bill Hader

Discovered SNL sketches like 5 years ago when I broke up with my partner, was living alone and depressed and ever since it's what I watch clips of when I'm laying in bed feeling overwhelmed by something and it just immediately relieves the feeling by cracking me up. Love this

I only kept my eye on Fred and Bill every time I watched this, but this time I watched Vanessa barrel through this skit without breaking, waiting for Bill to get through the Frosty story. She is a rock star.
She is! This said, you’ll note she said in an interview when she knew Bill was breaking she’d torture him by moving in closet and holding eye contact with a “I know you’re losing it.” Knowing this, go back through each skit with both of them and he starts to lose it and notice she does not let up or even give him an out to make it worse. It’s funny she does this, funnier still once you realize she’s done this to poor Bill in over a half dozen sketches.
