He MEANT to cancel the order, but forgot... Was his original instinct correct? Or did regret turn to joy? Watch this 4k review to find out!
Yeah, the biggest issue with ZAP is the pricing. If it was cheaper, then there wouldn't be as many complaints about it. I do plan on eventually getting it, but when it's on sale (like most people are waiting on).
Yeah at 80 bucks it’s def worth it
The quality of the plastic and some poor engineering decisions is the biggest problem, they are charging $165 for a product that looks and feels like an $50 dollars toys, obviously because of inflation it would be $80 but yea people like to justify this kind of practice.
I'm not even the biggest power rangers fan and I still randomly yell out Tyrannosaurus for no reason. Childhood nostalgia is strong.
Design Team: How many Zyuranger "Z"s should we put on, boss?
Hasbro: Yes.
🤣
I bought the black and gold edition, was shocked to learn it doesn't have as many points of articulation.
Love the way it looks. Too bad you’re not a fan. Oh well, still getting it.
Great video, Jay! But I have a few thoughts on the product.
First off, I find the overall look of the Megazord to be better and more natural in appearance than the original version that you have. And the legs look to me exactly as I would want them to in terms of proportion although the upper body, arms & head look uncomfortably & disproportionately undersized. The posability of the legs is also a plus in my book. However, the torso, arms & head need to be redesigned to be in a far-more-humanlike ratio to have that really satisfying look & appeal as well as having a balanced level of posability. In addition to that, I strongly agree that the paint application does not meet the price. This is supposed to be a premium item for serious collectors and not a discount edition. And for the cost of $165, I really feel that it should also have included the Green Ranger's Dragonzord so that you can assemble the Dragonmegazord (the combination of the Dragonzord with the mastadon, triceratops & sabertooth tiger) as well as the Megadragonzord (full Megazord with Dragonzord attached). Or, at the very least, the whole thing should've been made to a larger scale or even diecast metal instead of injection-molded plastic. Ultimately, the basest letdown is that the sword was vac-metal instead of diecast. All in all, I don't blame you for feeling let down. You should return it as quickly as you can and not bother to offer it as a monthly Patreon giveaway.
Really appreciate this breakdown, and yeah I just started the return process lol
My 2010 Megazord I got at Walmart for $25 sure is looking like a steal these days. Even with an inflation adjustment, that's still only $33.94 in 2022 money. For five times the price, this sure as heck isn't five times the quality. With improved articulation and paint instead of stickers I'd say maybe it's twice the quality tops. But no more, if the sloppy paint on the head is any indication.
I think if they scaled down the triceratops and sabretooth it would look better.
Kind of wish they'd do more Megazords like they did with that non-transforming Zeo Megazord they did a while back. That figure was pretty good at a decent price.
Same don't know why it got so much flack..
@@chinovo probably because it didn’t disassemble into the separate zords.
I opened mine today. 60 percent of the weight is the packaging. How could Hasbro messed this one up!!! It’s just all plastic, no heft to the figures whatsoever. So sad. I never had to return any of my BBTS purchases. I don’t know where to begin??? 😥
Altaya is the company making the Megazord you want.
Ugh I agree but idk what to do about my dragonzord now, part of me wants to complete the pair still.
Not complete until they make the chariot
The paint errors on the face are a real drag. Thanks for the sharing your thoughts.
I like how it looks. It's very poseable, looks more dynamic than the original but it's just too expensive for what it is.
Yup I agree
All of the budget for this went into the box... Seriously though, it could have been so much better with just a few tweaks that wouldn't have cost any extra. The tyrannosaurus legs and the triceratops and sabretooth tiger needed to be shorter for better proportions. The savings on plastic there could have been used to give this actual working wheels for tank mode like the original. The sword should have been painted silver so that it didn't flake off. The tyrannosaurus tail engineering is a cool concept, but doesn't actually work correctly and should have been double-checked.
I had the original megazord às a kid and this new one definitely doesn't do it justice
Everytime I consider buying this I see a post of something missing from package wether it be the sword or the whole pterodactyl zord missing. That's really th dissuading me
I feel that the price point really kills it, like you said if it was in the $80 retail line it would be fine.
If the nearly $50 megazord that they released is anything to go by, an $80 version would probably be just slightly worse then the legacy version or the mass retail toy that they used to make the legacy version..
@FN-1701AgentGodzillaRangerPrime Ω a 1/1 scale would be millions of dollars
Totally agree, but people like to justify the price, when this is obviously worth $80 and not $165
The Playmates Voltron I think is an even better value because it at least has the electronic lights and sounds gimmick that make combining more fun. This thing didn't even have an external Voice Box or talking Stand.
That's very true, I forgot about that fact!
If everyone hadn't liked Sunday's livestream then poor Jay could have sent this thing back!
The box looks so cool but the toy figure is quite disappointing. I'd wait for the release of the stylized Flames Toy! Kara Kuri version of this Megazord.
Im so happy I have the SoC verisons. I wish I got the vintage zords but Im happy with having Legacy and SoC.
Got this as well (unfortunately) and my Tyrannosaurus Zord was snapped in half in the box! The waist joint plastics were bent and broken, completely unusable. Been days and haven't heard back from Hasbro Support.
Damn, im so sorry! Have you tried calling their number? I called and got my return started fairly quick. Their email support takes forever
@@GeekDadLife I eventually did hear back! They sent me another unit which was similarly weak in the joints but at least wasn't snapped.
Interesting. John Warden is the brand manager for PR now at Hasbro ( he managed Transformers from 2014-2020). I really liked his work on Transformers, but especially with combiners I can see his influence all over this Megazord. What works for TF may not translate well to PR zords, but considering the average Transformers combiner is about $150 after you buy all the parts, and they have more complex designs, this Megazord does seem a little bit of a let down.
Cancelled this the moment I saw the first review out. IF I had kept it, it might have been first in history where I kept the box and threw away the toy. Lol.
I agree. Feels and look like a child's toy, and not for an adult collector (due to that that ridículous price tag).
Is this the same as the Lightening collection one or?
Sigh, yes def coulda been better. Top half of t-rex came apart on mine, got it back together sorts but have to angle it right to hold megazord weight when in that mode. I prefer the tank mode myself
Nice.
Oh man this is just like the plasma series ecto 1 lol!
Appreciate your honest thoughts on this Jay! Will you be picking up the Super7 line? The Tyrannosaurus Dinozord looked awesome in the Power Con pics. (And yes - when I say the dinosaurs names I say it like the Rangers!😂)
I talked myself into the soul of chogokin megazord and dragonzord and I have zero regrets in doing so but I just can't with this... I'm not paying for a product that's got a nicer and more premium box than the item inside! The dragonzord is tempting but same difference... I've just found my end all be all with the soc releases and legacy titanus! Maybe if zap makes it to season 2 and 3 zords I'll be tempted but I doubt zap will still be around!
Are those Rangers to scale with Fireball Island?! I would totally get those and shave down the bases!
For what it is, I think $80 would be good but $165? They didn't do anything in that set to be worth that price, so I'm obviously not paying for a low quality and overpriced figure. The only zap figure that I might get is the astro megazord because that one looks way better and the quality seems a lot better. Nice video
I ended up ordering Super7's TV accurate Ultimates Dino Megazord.
It just seemed cooler.
awwwww dang... sucks man, I keep a detailed spreadsheet of all my toys and preorders, sometimes I'm so grateful for my ocd and the anxiety it gives me, haha. But yeah, I have huge love for all things MMPR but I definitely passed on this whole ZAP thing, the NFT campaign really pissed me off too so I was like, nope and nope! I'm so glad I found a great deal on ebay for the vintage Megazord (and Dragonzord) mint in box, I don't need any others now that I have them back in my collection.
Great review!
That’s what happened when you buy a lot of stuff at once, you start to forget what you actually bought XD
So true 😂😭
If they gave it a good effort I’d be interested in a giant-sized Megazord HasLab.
It's like I want this..... but the price..... but will combine with the Dragonzord later...... But I'd rather have the Thunderzords.......Grah!
The weird thin top of the knee joint area is super loose on one of the legs on my T-Rex. Only real problem I have with mine.
Oh!! The shield is also comically too small I feel
That’s a pain, and yeah I agree it’s too small
Not sure what people expected. This is Hasbro, a Billion dollar company that has completely lost its way. A company that believes its own industry is in the gutter, a company that will do almost anything to scrimp and save a few pennies, passing all and every costs to the consumer, who for the most part, has been getting away with cutting out the cost it takes to sell to the retailers by just going straight to the fans and selling directly via Haslab and pulse, so already Hasbro have saved millions but then here they come to screw you even more by making cheap product for as cheap as possible, dressing it up with a nice premium looking piece of cardboard and tissue paper, that cuts the cost because they can get away with not using plastics in their boxes anymore, and then still charge the customer double, triple, quadruple the amount it cost to make because after all the screwing even before an item has even been properly developed and made, they know, you know, I know, that fans WILL (and they have and will) pay for it, either through retail or crowdfunding.
This toy is just another example in a long list of examples of how Hasbro do business; this toy could have been sold for $60 at global retail stores, Toys R Us still exists outside of the USA, Smyths Toys have outlets across Europe and there are other big box retailers with toy sections, because regardless of what Hasbro will have you believe; there is still an industry and a demand out there for toys. Mattel, Playmobil, Lego, Spin-Masters, Jada, Jakks are all toy companies, are all still within an industry that has seen growth and who all still maintain healthy sales at retail stores, with product that appeals to both kids, collectors and adults, without having to crowdfund or sell direct to consumers, product that could be sold at retail (I’m looking at you Ghost Rider Car, Rancor, Razor Crest etc…), a Megazord toy that would retain all the detail, the bits, accessories and even an improved standard of quality… the nice box and everything else, and still made Hasbro a handsome profit. Luckily for Hasbro, they know how a) desperate fans are to have a new toy and b) how even if fans hate it, they’ll still buy it and then buy another when it goes on discount and then keep buying the other items they sell and then the next Megazord too… Even if they had crowdfunded for let’s say a 6 inch scaled Megazord and it didn’t fund, like the Rancor… no problem, barely any money spent and we can release it separately down the line either at retail or, we can make even more money and charge more for it later on, as we’ve already got the prototype for it sitting there. Hasbro are literally marching their consumers over to their favourite brands and telling them to bend over, and consumers will gladly or begrudgingly oblige, either way you’re getting screwed.
At least you don’t have to apply as thousand decals lol
I’m a big mmpr and zord collector but I did not score this zap one. Not crazy on the proportions and the price is nuts for the quality
Got this Dino Megazord and I love it. It’s a lot better than the legacy Megazord.
I love this Megazord.
Dam Jay! I told you to return it!....lol
Everyone voted with their likes 😭
It just occurred to me, how do we know that the gender of the Megazord is supposed to be male? Idk
They should have spent less money on the box and more money on the figure
You are not wrong, would have much rather had a better toy than box lol
Gamestop had it 25% off just before release, might still be going
The audio was desynced a tiny bit. 🤓
10:08 it has the face only a mother can love.
Will you be getting the Astro Space Megazord?
I am, I think its a big upgrade over this one!
@@GeekDadLife yes indeed. Always wanted to collect the original P.R. But wasn’t able too. Astro Megazord has always been one of my favorites. Hope they do thunder Meg and Shogun Meg. 🙏
@@rayalva650 Same here!
I would be happy with a TITAN scale Dino Megazord for $200. Something in the scale of the Scorponok hasbro made.
That would have been a lot smaller...
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 The most recent Scorponok a couple of years ago? That was about 2 feet tall.
@@Flanman113 yes but you don't know what scale it was do you? This megazord is 1/144. If it was scaled to the scorponok, it would be a lot smaller than it is now. He's like 1/220 scale
Oh... I'm not even thinking about an accurate scale. Just be cool to have a Dino Megazord that's 2 1/2 feet tall.
was able to shave a 100 dollars off the price
Got mine a few days ago. Mine fortunately has no problems, really like it so far, but I feel it the price is way too high. It should have been 120 and no more. Also the box is way heavier than the figure itself how and why? I feel the box made it so expensive
GameStop has had it on sale for 120, loll. I feel like it should have been 20 less still
After seeing this I guess I'll just stick with my super Minipla dino megazord
It’s morphin time ⁉️🗣flipper Frank 💡lmfao at that one always 💯👑of toys 🧸 🎤 💧 plus awesome job👍🏼
I don’t mind the price. I hate the over engineering, cheap feel and the fact that the qc was appalling. So I went back to the legacy zords. I could’ve gone for SOC but I like consistency and they never did season 2-3
Again an example of of overpriced collector item with premium packages , you pay at least $25 for the empty box .
I wish companies would offer 2 versions of collector figures or playsets ....... one version that comes in a premium box for collectors who loves boxes ...... and one version that costs $20 (in some cases even $50) less and comes just in a plain card board box for collectors who doesn't cares about packages .
So I wasn't the only one!
I think it looks excellent but too expensive.
flametoys verison looks way better and you'll get what you paid for , I know the price is high but you'll get your money on ir
Still dying to get one.
I hope they take another swing at the MegaZord, the more recent ones have looked so much better.
Woof. Not for me, personally. GameStop had it for like 125 and I just couldn’t do it. Oh well. Sometimes it’s good to not feel the need to get everything!
The build quality doesn't look like it matches the price point. Sorry bro
Yeah it’s not even close to the cost
@@GeekDadLife Here's to hoping that the Dragon Zord will improve upon it if it does in fact add on as a combiner. Take care and be safe!
Exactly how I felt. I need to someone get that money back lol
Amen PTB lolol
Original 90s zord will always be king
Agreed
You could just ebay it lol I wish they do other megazords instead they kept on doing the Dino megazord
How old are you to be getting off on power rangers ???
The only advantage is articulation...
I was turned off by the clear bits that they added to the megazord. It also pissed me off that they were saying that it was screen accurate. I passed on this, even though I collect mmpr dino megazord, and I am always eager to add another one. I'm with Jay, the only thing left to do is make a 36" haslab megazord. But make it more like the show(check out the X-Plus Daizyujin), not stylized like the ZA.
👍
If I were to get one, I'd get the Bandai Legacy version. I wish Bandai had kept the license as the Hasbro stuff looks like a cheap knockoff.
Couldn't agree more with your thoughts on this, I was really excited to see a nice new premium megazord, but this definitely doesn't look to be it, and the price is quite high. I feel they should have taken some ques or direction from any or all the different voltron versions that have come out, then possibly we could have had something at least closer to premium. If they went dicast metal with this, it would have been much more worth the price as well I feel. Love your videos and content, keep up the fantastic work my friend!👍👊😎🍻
Not a fan of those huge gaps in the face.
Wah wah waahh!
It’s funny I’ve seen most reviewers be less than excited about this one. I have the Soul of Chogokin one and love it, but this one had me intrigued with the dynamic hands, articulated waist, and head joints. I caught it on sale and decided to compare the two and honestly I think I like this one more than the soc. The soc one is clearly a higher end product and a “better” piece, but I think this one is more fun to pose and display and I paid a bit less because of a sale. Sorry you weren’t thrilled. It is pricey but when 6 inch figures are $25 it’s kind of on par unfortunately. Love your channel and tune in every Sunday. Thanks for being such a positive space in toy collecting.
I wish I could see them both side by side, because in pictures the SOC one looks incredible
Yeah don’t get me wrong. It’s a wonderful piece and feels nice with all that die cast. But I’m ok selling it off for a decent amount and “downgrading” to this one since it’s the same scale and also has more articulation for good posing on the shelf. They are both wins for different reasons for me. Like you say it’s all down to preference. 🙌
For the prices you expect more engineering and high quality plastic but this is hasbro we are taking about, people always gonna justify hasbro decisions
I'm not totally sold on the look since I have the legacy die-cast one, but the articulation is pretty good
Zap Megazord is pretty much garbage. They put panel lining all over it to give the illusion of detail. So far most reviews talk about how great the box is, and the figure is lackluster. During the Sharrimus review the Sabertooth tiger kept falling apart.
Even when it was on sale for 25% off at Gamestop it wasn't worth it to me.
Wow.
The MOTU ORIGINS He-Man Anniversary 4 pack for 150 bucks is looking like a better value.
I wish Hasbro would move away from MMPR already. I would like to see updated Megazord toys from Zeo, Turbo, In Space, Time Force, etc. While they are at it, can we get Megazord scaled Monsters already?
If this and the other MMPR megazord Hasbro released is how they're going to make future megazords, I'm not sure I'd want to see them tackle other legacy megazords.
Mmpr is the biggest money generator. They aren’t moving away from it until the other properties become profitable. People should happy they make so much mmpr- it allows them to produce many of the products that don’t sell well.
The ZAP Astro Megazord was just leaked!
Any chance on getting the Dragonzord?
Zap Astro megazord I liked alot better than this one.
Hasbro has the transformers designers at the ready....... if they do another or a Haslab, for the love of Zordon, use the transformers designers to make the pterodactyl especially but all be able to look good in dino mode and transform right into the MegaZord
I just want a good articulating 12in megazord. It does not have to come a part. Just the full figure, with incredible articulation. If a company made a line out them, I feel they would sell really well.
TBH I think what you're looking for (large HasLab scale aside) is Bandai Japan's Soul of Chogokin Megazord from a few years back. Having that makes this one a huge pass for me even if the price had been lower. Everything about this one feels like Hasbro copying off of Bandai's test but getting things wrong when they tried to ""make it their own".
Now granted, the SoC when it came out was 299 dollars, but it was easily worth the premium price. Sadly for people that want a Megazord TODAY, that one's been out of print and now commands a hefty aftermarket price.
That Dino Megazord suck the best is from Soul of Chigokin Dino Mega Zord
I hope Hasbro doesn't become discouraged with all these criticisms (they probably won't), because we really need megazords, just not like this.
I hope they learn from this and make better megazords in the future, but I won't be buying from the ZAP line until then.
Another Give Away item...lol
Hahah maybe… 😂
Hasbro Sucks! Bandai was way better and even included die cast parts to give it more of premium feel to it. The entire lightning collection is trash compared to Bandai's Legacy Collection. I can 3D print helmets that fit properly and weapons that feel way more authentic than the light plastic knock offs hasbro is putting out. Don't even get me started on the action figures. SH figurarts rangers were waaaaaaaaaaaay better!
ahah rich ppls problem
I've noticed it's a lot of broke energy in the comments I guess a lot of these people don't have any money to buy anything
