I just enrolled in my local college for this. I'm doing the certificate course. I have done nothing but raise kids and run machines for almost 20 years. I'm very interested in this field. Liked your video
those people that are correcting the gentleman's grammar, may lack the compassion needed for this field by being over critical. I would suggest the overall relavance of the message over correcting mispronounced words or the use of colloquially accepted language by certain ethnic groups. if this is how you behave.....consider a different carreer. the community we serve does not use the Queens English nor, perfect diction or grammar. there are other things to consider.
Did you notice that after he moves on from the statement where he uses the word "conversate", he moves on to talk about how an ideal trait for a therapist in the substance abuse field is to be "nonjudgmental"? Funny and ironic.
Elizabethtown College has an online degree called Human Services: Behavioral and Addictions Counseling. I am taking it now and it's amazing. I graduate in May!
is this a certificate? How long? I live in Los Angeles and I'm having a hard time finding the right school. I don't want to waste my money on a scam school. I would like to get the certificate first to get my foot into working intros field and then work my way up.
kimberly yu no it’s a bachelors degree program. It’s an old college that used to just be campus school but they recently added an online school. It’s located in Pennsylvania and around here it’s considered a very good school
Not only is it a potential problem or RED Flag for those correcting the use of English in this video clip, it shows that you WILL NOT BE able to treat the diversity of clients w dignity and respect that SHOULD be given to all human beings. Look for a different career that does NOT deal w people if you have a problem w non English speakers and others who do not use proper grammar and syntax, etc.
LilMsKissyMissy Conversate [kon-ver-seyt] Spell Syllables Word Origin verb (used without object), conversated, conversating.Nonstandard except in some dialects.1.to have a conversation; converse; talk.
LilMsKissyMissy I completely agree. Surely you would say ''I converse with a client'' or ''I have a conversation with'' or rather than invent strange words...use another, all together more suitable one?! It's like 'burglarize', surely that's not a word either. You can burgle someone, have been burgled and be in the process of burgling someone....but what is this conversating with the burglarized all about?! :^\ #OxfordEnglishDictionary #ChambersEnglishDictionary
I've just taken my first tentative steps to becoming an addiction counsellor and I found this video very encouraging..
