  • *Hello Friends*
The two big audiobook services: Audible and Scribd, or really Audible vs Scribd since they're so often pitted against each other. I've tried both audible and scribd and this video summarizes the pros and cons of each service and my ultimate decision on which service to continue with.
    ⭐️AUDIBLE
I use Audible for their vast library of audiobooks, particularly audiobooks that I can't get from my public library
    Try Audible for free: www.audibletrial.com/P0mN9j
    ⭐️GRAPHIC AUDIO REFERRAL LINK⭐️
If you're ready to try a graphic audiobook, you can use my referral link for 50% off your first purchase: www.graphicaudio.net/?awraf=A...
I cannot recommend the graphic audiobook rendition of The Stormlight Archive enough.
    ⭐️MY KINDLE
    Kindle Oasis: amzn.to/2YDOm3k
    Kindle Oasis Case: amzn.to/2Vupklr
Another slightly cheaper, but still great case: amzn.to/32KkViI

I use Audible and Libby. I have used Scribd in the past, and could see myself subscribing again at some point, but between Libby and Audible, I have more than enough audiobooks to listen to. I'm fortunate that my library has such a big selection of audiobooks. If they didn't, I would definitely add Scribd.

Perfect timing that I saw this. I took the 30 day 2 credit free trial. I listened to The Widow Queen. Polish to English translation. The names alone discouraged me. Bintou I loved the book, the story, the narration. I want more translated. My second credit was for Swan Song, yes ma'am all 965 pages. The audio amped up the experience. That is where Audible will end for me. Its too expensive. I picked up a trial of Scribd today. Again, going long and one my library doesn't have. Time (30 days) will tell. Scribd has so many books my library doesn't or the wait is soblong., and I don't chase new books. I picked up Yellow Crocus (loved it) cannot remember from where. Thank you for your reviews.

I use Kindle Unlimited and have Alexa read them to me. I love their selection, and even though most of the authors are self-published- I never run out of interesting books to listen to. I use Audible for particular books not available on Kindle Unlimited. But for Non-Fiction educational-type books, I'd much rather get the Kindle version so I have it in print, as that is better for studying, highlighting, and taking notes. And Alexa can still read those to me if I choose. Having Alexa read the books is REALLY not bad at all. She does a good job. The technology has vastly improved from the early days of Kindle text to speech.

Scribd is the best when it come to finding old out of print books and PDFs and a very extensive audio library of many different topics and categories audible is okay just not what I like it’s a coke vs Pepsi thing I guess IPhone Vs Android I read many different subjects and foreign languages and I find that scribd has a huge volume of any topic or category I’m jumping from

Hah, I just signed up for scribd's 14 day trial and found the murderbot series, but that's it. Nothing else from my extensive wish list on audible, or in libby and hoopla. It seems like audiobooks are kind of neglected on there. Don't bother looking for cli fi there. I hate audible because it's amazon lol. I do love the Plus section, and have SO many books from there. I've read quite a few of them, and a bunch of back burner. I might do that sub and buy a few credits or something. The libraries are the best, though. Free and plenty.

I use Audible. I am thinking on getting the annual membership to save money. I like that I own the audiobooks. I am kind of tired of paying Netflix and other similar services where I don’t own the content. I probably use the 1.2x speed. English is my 2nd language so I haven’t gotten to the point of 2.x speed yet. Another thing that I like with audible audiobooks and Amazon ebooks is that they sync progress across devices. I listen to a audiobook with my Apple Watch while I walk or using my phone when I drive and then read the ebook in my kindle right where I left the audiobook. Same when I read the ebook in kindle and then pick it up next morning on Apple Watch. Syncing maybe a small feature for someone else, but I hate spending time looking for where I was reading or listening. I also use Libby ebooks. I read them in the kindle as well so if I have the audiobook I can listen and read at the same time.

    • @readwithbintou
      @readwithbintou  3 роки тому +1

I have loved the annual membership. and audible is pretty sneaky about offering you more discounted credits once you start getting low before your membership renews. this is my second year with the annual membership and I'm going to keep it moving forward.
synch is definitely a great feature! I don't use it much since I usually read along with the audiobooks or I get my ebook or audiobook from the library and since it's outside the amazon ecosystem they don't pair up 🙁
I try to end my reading at a chapter to make my life easier 😂

Technically I have 184 audible books, but they are not really mine, since this is known as a perpetual rental. I cant share the books are try to strip the DRM from them, because that could mean being barred from the library I have paid a fortune to amass. In 2023 the platform creators all want to push subscription as a service and as long as it continues giving value I will pay Scribd and shun audible, which is expensive and stingy, but the selection is better. Take advantage of audible's intros and drop them when they was 15 a month. Kindle Rewards wants to compete with Scribd, but Amazon has fixed the prices 30% higher for ebooks as they were in the past. Now they have this as a gimmick to get people to overpay for a lousy 30% discount after they had to overpay for several books, but at least the total number of books sold will be great for Amazon. Another thing is I really like Paul Theroux and have paid for both the Audible and Kindle versions of the books and in some case have also bought them as gifts for people. Jeff Bezos is a greedy jerk. His idea to start a bookstore without a bookstore was great. It is said he is an avid reader, but I reject his monopolization of ebooks.

Fantastic discussion! I have scribd and audible. I use scribd if it's on there, and if it's not, I use audible. If a book is less than $9 (cost of credit), I will buy it. I use more than my 24 credits.
The thing is, I can go a while without using scribd, but if I do I try to pause my membership. My biggest issue with scribd is there is a cap on how many books of a certain class you can listen to in a month.
I haven't used Libby, but I'd like to. The issue is I don't have a library card, and Ive had trouble getting it to work online. With the pandemic it's hard to go in person.
Lastly, Librovox is an option for classics. It's not very high quality, but its something.

Audible lies about having a free 365 day return policy. I returned two books and they locked up my entire library preventing me from returning any more books. The books I returned were two of the $2.95 books. I thought I'd take a chance to see how they were since they have free returns. They sucked so I returned and then found out I was blackballed from returning anymore, ever I guess because they locked up all of my books in my library. Well to hell with Audible.
