Goodison Park on 17.8.24. Ready For Its Last Ever Season As Home To Everton FC

- I took a look at Goodison Park Stadium today, home of Everton Football Club for one more season.
I was informed the pitch had been relayed and so I wanted to have a look at how it is looking just over a month before the season is due to start.

As a Liverpool fan, I actually have a soft spot for Goodison.
When I was 16, in 1998, I wanted to do my art project of Anfield for my school arts exam. It was going to be in the stadium, where Liverpool would win a game against Everton. I needed pictures and all kinds for it, for reference. My mum called Anfield as asked and they said yes... for the stadium tour.
Now we couldn't afford it at the time. So my mum called Goodison and... they said just come one down. They just let me walk in, take pictures, and even allowed me on the pitch to get better photos.
I've never forgotten that. It's a big reason I'll never cheer for the blues to be relegated. And why, whilst needed, I will feel sad when Goodison is gone forever.
My top Everton players are Rooney, Gascoigne, Hughes, Southall and Lineker. Wonderful memories ! Sensational players who entertained everybody for years !

The Grand old lady. Goodison park.
I remember my very first vist to Goodison in 1969.
I was 16 years old and travelled from teesside by myself on the train. I had followed Everton since the 1966 FA Cup final but had never been to Goodison.
That was the start of my love for Everton. And a life time of travelling across to Goodison and around the country.
I can remember the old Boys pen back then.
Lots of Great memories lots of tears over those years ..
Now 70 years old I have not been to Goodison for such a long time but hopefully I will get there one more time this season and also see Everton playing in the new stadium.

My dad took me for the first time in 1977.
So many memories of that place, good and bad.
They should keep it, redesign and downsize it and use it for Everton`s Women`s team. or even as Everton`s training ground or both.
Excellent viewing of everton f.c.been some good football playing there and some really good players playing there it will be sad when it comes to the end of the season i have been a fan since i was 16yrs old and now 53yrs old and never been in that stadium but i really want to see it before the end of the season and i really want to get season tickets for the new stadium it is massive i want to be involved tosee be a toffee fan.

At least i have a model of the Grand Old Lady to look at after we move. Does not have Goodison on the Park Stand roof tho
Those last games are going to to be a bit emotional. At tottenham they had built about three quarters, of the new place, before Spurs had to move out, and they began demolishing White Hart Lane, i first started going in 1966, so it had been like a second home to me., as, i'm sure, Goodison has become to you.I couldn't bare to watch that place being torn down. Very Emotional.

ive known that ground for 55 years only ever been once sad to know it will be gone in a year. just hope they take at least something from it and put in the new one. great vid have a good game chap

where did you play before Goodison was built ? Anfield is older than Goodison, the older sister!

My birthday is on Monday 19th August...Same day as they begin to lay the pitch at the new stadium. Will the stadium be ready for beginning of 2025? ie after christmas.
They say it will be mainly done then but we wont be playing there until 2025/2026 season. There will be other things going on as they integrate the stadium . I believe there may be some concerts and perhaps stadium tours will be available when its not a building site.

Would be brilliant if they place a powerful blue beam of light shooting to the sky every evening to mark this spot forever no matter what eventually happens to the location. And how much would that wind-up the Reds having to see that every night in the sky?!

You'll miss it no matter how good the new ground is( as a derby fan I still miss the Baseball ground pride park nice ground doesn't have the feel).
