Ngl I don’t know why the anime didn’t mention this part but wangnan actually tricked bam into accepting them- he gave bam his connector instead so all of them passed. In the manwha it was a pause after bam’s name and then the rest of the cast
The anime once again removed scenes with love confirming that Nia did die and remove the scene of wangnan going to check the door but it couldn’t open.
14:05 Probably the cut character interactions, especially Wangnan's group. There are a lot actually skipped/changed in this episode that would highlight each of the character's personalities and traits that should be happening since ep 3. There were only given bits of each character's backstories and relationship buildup in the last 2 eps that it's kinda criminal. S1 did have cuts but they were still informative and generous in giving meaningful interactions between every characters. This entire test was meant to showcase the characters that Bam will proceed with climbing as they grow on you.
Yeah so the reason lurker or the loan shark guy was able to find Wangnan in the first episode was because he always ordered food from Nia’s restaurant so that’s how far back the betrayal went
as for the “moons,” in season 1 it’s mentioned that the sky and stars are more of a legend in the tower. their sky is actually just five light balls on the ceiling an imitation of the legends of the outside
Yep. Now I'm certain. Tower of God needs more than 13 episodes a season. It needs like 20-ish, because these guys are killing the pacing of the show and rushing the damn thing
I heard this arc was very rushed so the next few can have the pacing they need. I haven’t read the man… ga(?) but apparently the next few arcs are ‘better’.
I have to say I'm glad Tower of God is getting a second season but, so far, the webtoon is much better. The animation is a bit wonky at times and they've cut out a lot of moments where the characters bond (they managed to fit 23 chapters into 4 episodes 😅). It’s a decent adaptation and I’m still excited to watch the rest of the season, but I'd recommend anyone who enjoys this anime to check out the webtoon.
I know what you mean when you say you feel something is “missing,” but as a reader of the webtoon that feeling i think will go away when they reveal bams flashbacks of why he’s acting like this + you get to see the season 1 cast again. Also when I read this portion of the story the first time I felt similarly - this arc was very confusing on my first read through, but the answers will come.
They don't explain it in the anime I think but in the Manwha it's explained that the sky/environment on each floor is decided and controlled by the floor administrator (The giant creature Bam made a contract with in season 1). So, the 5 moons on the 20th floor are unique to that floor and created and put there by the Floor Admin. And as stated in another comment, they aren't really moons but more like balls of glowing shinsu.
I actually felt the same as you when reading this part in the Webtoon, almost stopped reading actually, but I made myself continue and it was so worth it! I think you should give it a bit more time, let the story develop. From the next episode things will get more interesting I guarantee. 👍
I feel like it's the pacing. As someone who read it I know it's building up, so I'm looking forward to what's coming. It may be also the fact that we started with some random characters that we're introducing and we're used to have that covered in season 1 and it feels like starting something from zero when it's not, so it may be underwhelming. As for the animation, I don't see much of a difference, but I wish it was more fluid in some places so it feels less like manga/webtoon panels. However I hope the only reason its like this is so save budget for later on.
Remember that the point of this test is to prove whether Bam or Mule Love was correct in this situation. Bam did not want to accept any teammates while Mule said he needed teammates in order to climb. In the webtoon, Wangnan took the connector and blackmailed Bam into helping him on the assumption that Bam would get the connector back, put it in his own remote, and then win the test by himself and prove he doesn't need teammates while everyone else fails. Wangnan actually tricked Bam and gave him back the wrong remote (his own instead of Bam's) so when Bam clicked it, it would add him to Wangnan's team and they'd all pass together. I don't know why the anime cut that part out. They also did a pretty bad job adapting the moment when Wangnan forgave Lurker. It sucks because those two moments back to back were what solidified Wangnan as a really good character for me.
On the webtoon it didn't show Khun just sitting there. There was actually dialogue. Someone is talking to him via the pocket and this person is mentioning to Khun "Have you heard the news that there's a new slayer nominee on the 20th floor and is making a name for hisself. Khun answers with, "What family is he from?" and the person replies with "Mule Family." and Khun responds with I've never heard of that lame family. (plus his clothes look better on the webtoon compared to what he's wearing here in the anime)
@@Azure_Sky222 the scout outfit is unironically one of my favorite fits in tog because holy cow, after season 2 its just always sportswear or traditional clothing, wish they incorporated more clothing genres cause it really set the atmosphere of "we don't know what these guys have been up to since then"
14:27 what's missing is good direction, storyboard and scripts for this season, there's weird transitions, lot's of important content and dialogues getting cut and character interaction and all
the anime suffers a little bit from cut scenes and i think thats why it feels like somethings missing at times (bc there are!) but the story definitely ramps up from here on and you made some great speculations so i’m excited to see your future reactions! great video!
They did this anime dirty with the pacing and cutting things out... like really 23 chapters in 4 episodes no wonder why so many people are already hating this season even though it just started.
But the upside of rushing through the first arc is that they can now slow down the pacing for the rest of the season. After this, I believe they will adapt 4 chapters per episode starting from episode 5, since they adapt 5-6 chapters per episode on the first 4.
submerge fish also known as deep sea fish (also known as hansung yu!) yeah agusgus talked to fug right after... moons? dont forget the sky and starts are just cieling and light bulbs
Well I don’t think were meant to feel a lot for Nia- it was more for wangnan and his growth going forward but I still did feel sad that Nia couldn’t pass.
what made it sad for me was when the webtoon spent like 4-5 panels of nia just screaming while wangnan could only listen from his pocket, that was really what made wangnan sparing lurker's life hit hard imo
I do agree with the fact that there is something missing thus far from this season as far as production goes: Passion. Im still enjoying the story even though i think the pacing could be better. Though yes, so far this season lacks a sense of 'personality' or 'emotion' that isn't coming across in the storyboards as much as it used to.
@@Aceofspades928 the animation is really janky, pacing is worse than ever, these scenes are happening like a story recap more than the story telling from how little time they give each scene to breathe. even s1 knew when to linger on moments to leave an impression, is this director new? they really should be spending the most time on introducing the characters and leaving the time cuts for later established scenes
Yeah, you absolutely should read the webtoon cause the anime pace is so messed up they cut, change, and rush a lot of things and that's what’s missing. I recommend you to read the first 22 chapters that we saw in the anime, and after each episode, you go read the chapters of the episode because, honestly I just feel so bad about this masterpiece to be misjudged like this. Lastly, WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY GLORIOUS KING KHUN OUTFIT?? They really did just give him that plain shirt and pants??
TO ME.... I think its the high stakes action we're missing. When Bam first entered the tower he had to fight for his life in the ball game.. then they had a free for all where he met Khun, the crown game with green april going crazy and plenty more. It was chaotic from the start.. Seaon 2 so far we're stilll learning why everybody wants to climb with the new group, and "last time, on dragonball z" with the old group.. so we've only gotten small scraps..😩
Actually Nia is a guy the anime did a poor job at saying that tho in the manwha wangnan was like wait you’re a guy when Nia went to go that a bath with him.
The fist season had better animation and the vibe of the first season was way more better then this season. It’s like how One Punch Man season 1 felt and look different compared to season 2.
I think what's unfortunate about tower of god is that Bam/Viole is a non-character, so the supporting cast and plot has to carry. That and the 1st season was paced just well enough that we weren't confused. This season the big downgrade is the new supporting cast, which is less interesting and worse pacing. The show feels rushed because things are happening and not explained well, but also dragging because nothing notable is happening.
@fernandoalencar5287 unfortunately you might be right. I'm getting the same vibes as Tokyo ghoul. Well maybe not quite as bad as Tokyo Ghoul, but yeah. Also the orphan kids you mean Promised Neverland?
i actually don't mind they skip alot in episode 1-3 but in this episode, they skip like alot of important thing. I don't thing it could be better in next episode because you don't really connect with bam's new team. It should be in this episode you were connecting with new team but ohh well. I don't want to be that guy but manhwa is better
I do think it's a combination of animation and the story kinda reseting with new characters when they already had a great cast. I know where it goes so I'm good with it but for anime only I can see it being a issue. And the animation is a super downgrade, the first season had a unique style, so even when saving on animation it hid it pretty well, this season is just generic unfortunately :/
Ja is all bark but no bite. He’s not a real friend he couldn’t even avenge someone he considered a friend even after he heard them being violently beaten to death. He could have at least chop off an arm as a punishment.
Dude wangnan is literally the working of a shonen protagonist who doesn’t want to kill. He realized it’ll just repeat a cycle grant it still sucks but he’s morally right.
I don't know if that makes him a bad friend, but that type of ideology of his is bull for sure. I'd believe him if he said he didn't have the heart to kill a person rather than the excuse he used. Wagnan Ja definitely could have beaten the sh*t out of the fool at least. Edit: I watched further. It seems the reason he gave (that he considered some time in the future that he'd be in the shoes of the loan shark and might have to do horrible things to climb up) is quite introspective of him.
Ngl I don’t know why the anime didn’t mention this part but wangnan actually tricked bam into accepting them- he gave bam his connector instead so all of them passed. In the manwha it was a pause after bam’s name and then the rest of the cast
