@@AUOrangeCats I hope someone saved it from being scraped in the old retired model graveyard, if it were to be restored as a refurbished fixed model, no doubt in my mind a smaller town or financially struggling small city that can't afford newer model sirens would take that beast. A siren that will last twice the life span of a newer siren for half the price!
As another poster has commented, this siren has indeed been replaced by a 2001-130... That being said, here's the insider information: This siren still belongs to the City, and is being restored by a member of the Fire Department! The FD will be releasing videos of this restoration in the future. I'm just posting this to reassure the community that this siren is NOT being scrapped!
I heard this siren was unfortunately replaced. I know it's sad, but remember the rotator was fried, and slowly but surely, the next thing to go would be the chopper motor. Odds are, after being a victim of several lightning strikes, the chopper motor was shorted out, and overtime, AC voltage was going to finish it off overtime. It being that the motor was already fried, that's probably exactly what just happened. The fire Dep probably noticed it gave out, sounded more horrible than usual, and the chopper motor probably burned out and they only heard the blower running, something like that. I'd have to imagine that the chopper motor ending up burning out and that was probably exactly what just happened that ended up getting that poor thunderbolt siren replaced.
Surprised this thing is still kicking, passed it just shy of a year ago and was wondering how it's doing. Great video as always
It was just replaced by a 2001 this month
Unfortunately it was replaced by a 2001 DC unit.

2001-130 has replaced this. Can confirm as me and Lucas have seen it.
At least it’s (allegedly) being restored. I do wonder what led to it being finally being replaced
At least it can hold a steady pitch now.
Now I'd love to hear it bumped up to level 7.
Great shot, man.
ITS. STILL. ALIVE!?
Sounds the same that I got the thunderbolt at Gainesville TX
It's like this because it got struck by lightning multiple times
It was replaced by a 2001 this month, October
Proof?
@@Glist_ I live in Napoleon and I see the siren everyday. A 2001 now stands where the Thunderbolt once stood.
It’s still going? Gosh it sounds terrible..
It was just replaced this month
@@AUOrangeCats Dude stop commenting the same thing repeatedly.. I saw your comment already
Why are people neglecting this siren
It wa struck by lightning, and the city is letting it run until it dies. There's a Sentry 10V nearby that can cover this area.
It has been replaced
Oh jeez, that thing sounds awful
They should've taken it down years ago (just to put it out of it's misery)
There gonna run that thing into the ground
