Man.. I listen to a lotta scratch videos when Im drunk but god damn... this shit is amazing. . These are some of my favourite patterns Ive ever heard. Shit is perfect.
I am currently living your comment with a little DR. Zhivago pick me up too and enjoying old school scratch vids from the greatest to ever do it. Well said a decade ago.
Hell yeah! Nice scratching move, i would really wanna have 1 of those vinyl that he had used, how wonder what is the name of the particular vinyl and where can i get it.
@ozoid455 hes a musician, not a battle DJ in spirit. The notion that all turntablists have to enter battles is old hat, music doesn't have to be competitive. The number of battles a musician enters is not a measure of their ability, it only measure their competitive / conquering spirit.
Well yea i agree, partially thats what i saying. People may prefer the sound of Q to D, but if i was looking for strengths, i'd say more often D is more musical and Q is.. well, something else :D
You really can't compare people like D-styles and Tiesto. They are different type of DJ's, and play different types of music. Scratch DJ's usually are more producer orientated DJ's, they don't really do a lot of live shows or clubs. A guy like tiesto probably gets a large sum of his music by playing at venues and doing tours. BTW, I believe D-styles has a sponsorship deal with Vestax and shure. He plays at a famous LA club weekly. And hes made over a dozen records.
Well I see so many similarities in the Invivible Skratch Pikls members' techniques but it's not stealing, i don't think. They just worked together for so long and since the beginning so no shit their styles are gonna be the same.
I've finally settled on Q-Bert as being god of scratch, and i have a good reason why. But its hard to resist D-Styles when he seems to fit into the 'groove' more pleasingly than Q. D-Styles is someone who will leave you pleased. But Q will leave you with jaw on the floor.
@revnu2 Haha. He does the same shit on the Smega Returns video. Always all like "i cant scratch" hahaha. Total perfectionist. It shows though. He's like top 3 best to me when it comes to cleanness. Add rucker and Q to that list. So precise and clean.
@kennywuu I disagree. However, it doesn't need to be a competition. They have proven themselves to be turntablist royalty and surely we should all just appreciate what they do?
@kizo12 I disagree. D scratches regular. Q scratches reverse. D does a ton of reverse scratches. Its part of his style he does em so much. Q is awesome but more gimmicky. D is more straight forward it seems. And I dont think these 2 see each other very much anymore. I dunno. No disrespect. I just hear 2 totally different styles when I listen to them. I also think Q is more into making new scratches and shit for kids to buy and shit like that where as D is just into making music. Both rule though
Dave easily has more than 20,000 followers. He does showcases world wide. Get your facts straight and don't compare trance dj's to hip hop dj's. Skill wise D is far more advance on turntables than Tiesto.
just get second hand numarks, start on cheap decks first. no point blowing a wad on inspiration. after a year of practice then get the daddy's of decks
@ozoid455 nothing was "switched up" I wrote one clear idea. I never expressed "Ya'll's" opinions so it is strange that you responded as if I did. Musicians don't have to enter battles to be good. You can have your opinions, but that mantra makes no sense, which is surely why you didn't answer to the topic you introduced. There's nothing about music that is inherently competitive, it is more collaborative by nature. Good luck.
0:42-0:48 damn...so simple yet so much flava and flow. no flares, crabs, orbits, quadruple octuplet flares, etc.
nuff said.
