"No" this funding must stop, we have simply gone utterly mad and those in charge can no longer be trusted with public money for what you might call glory projects ( thing that are nice but not essential like arts and culture) because they can and are being captured but single issue nutters that do not represent all New Zealanders. it's true that the present government is promoting racism through policy, i personally have become cynical toward Maori politicians and Maori activists, Maori politicians rarely speak of all N.Zers, it's usually " our people " the division is becoming wider and is becoming a " them and us " situation, Mahuta is a huge problem in this matter, she must go, she is not fit to hold a portfolio.
As far as I can tell, David Seymour is the only politician who actually cares about the future of all New Zealanders. ACT get my family’s vote at the next election.

This Labour Govt since the 2020 elections have in effect tried to buy votes from all vulnerable areas of NZ society, billions of taxpayer's money have been wasted on not only NZ institutions(media etc) but also on consultants who advise the Govt what they think they should do. This form of racism has found its way into sports in new zealand, I belong to a sports club that asks you what racial group you belong to in its annual membership form. Because there is extra funding that filtered down from the government for anyone that says they have maori heritage. Some of the club members who have maori heritage refuse to say so because they dont like racism.
When ever I am asked to put down my race in any official form I always put myself down as subhuman just as a little reminder about last time it mattered what race you belong to.

As a retired public servant I recall being required to attend ToW classes where we were instructed to regard the Treaty as a partnership.(Notwithstanding the absence of any words to that effect in the Treaty). Any job one applied for required applicants to repeat the mantra and people were selected on how they demonstrated they would implement it in their workplace. Little wonder partnership is endemic in the public service.
Please expand. A lot of people do not realise this is happening.
Job descriptions in the public service invariably contain(ed) a requirement for applicants to demonstrate their knowledge of kaupapa Maori and Treaty principles. Questions were framed to guage applicants understanding of the "partnership" and this formed part of the assessment for a persons suitability for the job from about the 90s.

There will be a lot of people looking to act in the next election. There is a deep suspicion with the people I’ve spoken to about National where do they stand on these issues because they’re certainly not saying very much which makes a lot of people nervous.

Also the media would have to ask, but even asking might stop them from getting funding, so they probably won't bring any of this up for national to give their opinion.

Re media disavowing these mandates, find the document outlining the penalties for failure to comply. The govt can demand repayment for any funds so disbursed, in perpetuety.

I've felt that there's been subtle forms of NZ on Air favouritism in awarding funding to the "approved" types of people for at least a generation. I guess now they feel bold enough to make it overt rather than covert, and even expect all funding recipients to include social engineering propaganda in whatever they produce, regardless of the target audience.

I for one am totally against it. We should be one nation, under one set of laws, equal under the law. NZ is now the home of dozens of people from many different ethnic backgrounds. Dividing people like this is the wrong direction.

David Seymour could have earned himself a lot of respect, support and votes if he had not supported the draconian Pfizer clot- shot mandates and come out a met with the NZ people that protested peacefully on Parliament grounds.
No one will ever hold all your views, but he did meet some of the leaders of the protest at the backbencher pub, he was even threatened of being kicked out of parliament by mallard because of it.

As someone who has worked in government departments in Wellington, I can confirm they are woke beyond belief. I think it's probably a case of the pendulum swinging too far in one direction though; with a nudge in the right place it should be able to come back to the centre.

I think the treaty should become our founding document. It may take three or four generations. By then 70% or 80% of our people will qualify as Maori.
THE TREATY OF WAITANGI (1840) - Maori version - literal translation back into English:
1) The Chiefs of the Assembly and all the chiefs absent from the Assembly, shall cede to the Queen of England forever the government of all their lands.
2) The Queen of England acknowledges and guarantees to the chiefs of NZ, the entire supremacy of their lands, of their settlements, and of all their personal property. But the Chiefs of the Assembly, and all other Chiefs, make over to the Queen the purchasing of such lands (?) ....... (?).
3) In return for acknowledging the Government of the Queen, the Queen of England will protect all the natives of NZ, and will allow them the same rights as the people of England.

Our govt and our media, are the only ones I really see, stoking the flames of racial division.
Pretty much everyone else I come across, in real life, seem to have no issues getting along with, the wide range of different cultures represented here.
How about our govt and media do right by our people, and give up trying to subvert us, using race. I’m not even sure there’s any good reason, that the govt needs to break down all their statistics by ethnicity.
Of course different groups have different rates of this and that, when you group them separately, they always will!!!!
If everyone were in the same group, New Zealanders, there’d be no more racial disparities in statistics. But they want there to be. So that they can treat us distantly based on race, to “fix racial disparities”. Racism doesn’t actually fix racial tensions. Being united under the law does. Everyone having the same rights and access to services, does.
The only people who really do need to classify us by race, for a good reason, are the police. Andm only because it’s important that they have enough specifics, to accurately identify suspects

Are we speaking English or Maori? If English, then it is "The Treaty" because there is only one, or "The Treaty of Waitangi" in full. If Maori there's no point in me being here because I am not a Maori speaker and I won't tolerate my native tongue being polluted.

You said David Seymour doesn't get angry enough. But the problem is.... it's up to all kiwis to get angry and protest and complain and jam the bureaucracy ph lines . Labour has set about changing the identity of New Zealand, everyone has to get on board with the Maori language and culture. Personally, as a caucasian I have a perfectly acceptable language and a perfectly acceptable heritage and identity, I don't need to adopt someone else's. Labour has required the media to shoehorn Maori words into everyday English while at the same time looking on as English words are Maorified to look not unlike pidgin English, morena for good morning for example. Maori words for the days of the week when there was no 7-day week before the Europeans arrived.
