    Where did you get the orange straps for your everything cages? Are they adjustable and do the hold well? The straps that come with it have to be cut preventing me to use it for different sized items.

    Hi Phil, I like your setup gives some good ideas to a first time bike packer, I have a mtb and already have the backpacking gear , just thinking about what packs and or racks to get. Do you think it's better to get a larger seat pack like your 14 litre for first purchase. And notice u have a front rack , do u prefer that to the handlebar roll bag type stuff for an mtb ?goodluck will check out your websites and stuff 👍 Cheers russ

    • @PhilSnider
      @PhilSnider  4 роки тому +1

      Hi RST, thank you for the complements on my setup, I really enjoy it but I'm currently changing it up a bit, mainly just getting a rack to move the water bottles to the rear instead of having them on the front fork. As far as having a front rack on a flatbar mountain bike... I dont know, mine is a drop bar bike and Ive never had a front rack on a mountain bike. I originally had a front roll but I didnt like the limited access to it. With the front rack and bungee net I have quick access to anything that is there and it provides more space to cram more food so I can be out longer, a front roll doesnt provide that. Cheers and thanks for watching!

    • @Foxtrottangoabc
      @Foxtrottangoabc 4 роки тому

      @@PhilSnider hi phil thanks for the advice and your observations. Think I will get the rear seat pack first, then centre and top frame packs and save the front handlebar setup till last 😃, as u mention for your personal preference , that seems a good idea of having option of easily accessible items at arms reach . Will prob try and find a set up where I can have a roll bag and pouch or something up front , looking at your revelate pack link , think I can do something like that , cheers 🙂

    Sleeping bag? I assume it's on the front rack. Why carry the water in the insulated metal bottles - It seems like it is heavier than necessary. I'm curious coming from a lightweight backpacking direction it would seem like 2-liter bladders would save you a lot of weight, but clearly, this would be much more durable. Are the metal bottles necessary for that or some other reason? Last question - what size lock did you get?

    • @PhilSnider
      @PhilSnider  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah I forgot to mention the sleeping bag and yes its on the front rack. The water bottles are not insulated, I wanted something that I would never have to worry about leaking. I've never had good luck with them. The lock is and Otto Lock, the link is in the description. I got the shortest one and after using it I think the better option would be one size bigger. I have to get the frame right against whatever it is I'm locking the bike to for it to work..

    • @PhilSnider
      @PhilSnider  4 роки тому

      I'll never do osseointegration, I have no interest in having a permanent open wound that could get infected. Besides, I do just fine with my socket setup. If you take a quick look in the description of the video there is a link to the website where you can checkout the Biodapt knee. I highly recommend it to any AK who is active. I don't really have a need for them because I don't normally ride in the rain. Also when I first got the Sutra it was difficult to find fenders that would cover the 2.1 inch wide tires so I just abandoned that idea.
