For once a movie didn’t show an unrealistic happy ending, but one that can help kids understand that mommies and daddies don’t always live happily ever after. It was the right path to take for that film and for so many kids that need to understand better why their parents are sometimes much better apart than they are together.
Yeah, that was one thing that irked me in Liar Liar. They shouldn't have gotten back together and their reason for breaking up was more legit than the reason they broke up in Mrs. Doubtfire.
It also shows, what kind of person Williams was. I asume they offered him loads of money and still... he turned it down 3 times, because he didnt like the script. Most "celebs" today wouldnt bother to read the script and would only care for the money

Holy f thank you. Minty should have had that line in there. So classic. I came to comments to mention it and there it was. The look on Brosnans face too. He nailed the serious guy in a comedy movie role. It must be tough to be the serious guy and still be funny.
They had a cast reunion last year. Brosnan told how long the "run-by fruiting" took. He said something like "I was standing there, fruits flying by my head left and right, but he never hit"
The scene where the cake mask was melting was actually happening because the heat from the studio lights was in fact the cause of the melting. But Robin Williams continued the shooting of the scene and it went really well. Master of improvisation right there.
i heard in another video that the "frosting face tea" scene was almost entirely adlibbed by Robin. and that the melting of the face was a perfect improve. (:
Robin William's did a lot of adlibbing in his movies. Some directors said they would just turn the cameras on and let him go getting a lot of really good material to work with. He is missed terribly in the film world!

Robin Williams writing a letter too a school in order to help a child actor, sounds like something he would do. I've heard he was very much into helping kids, and it seems like he often donated to ST Judes childrens hospital. it's no wonder his best work was probably the Patch Adams movie.
This movie will always be special to me. Right around the time of its release I would've been 8 years old and my parents were heading to a divorce. When I finally got around to seeing it the divorce was happening when I was around 10. I was sent to a therapist to help me cope with the divorce but none of that shit helped. Only this movie gave me some sense of solace during that difficult time. It helped me realize that even though my world seemed to be ending in the end it will be okay. I'll always be grateful to Robin Williams and the rest of cast and crew for helping me grieve.

Well YES...but then an ORGANIC version of the kids finding out would have been people actually discussing the validity of the current family court climate and even feminism in general.
