I was just talking to my buddy the other day about how awesome it has been to hear EPROMs artistic growth over the last several years. Absolute gem. Mad respect.
Been a huge Eprom fan for years and you’re making such a justice to all of his music. Had the privilege to catch him at his debut DEF set premiering VAULT back in March and I just wish I could have made it to Syntheism Robotics yesterday at Mission Ballrooms
I was at The North Warehouse in PDX for his album unveiling! Also caught his Vault Set after G Jones' set! Phenomenal! I also have some good footage if you need it! I was in the front right behind his friend who was recording for him!
fyi, eprom has TWO mixtapes, not one. "The Mixtape" came out in 2009, prior to the robotsextape and was honestly what really got me hooked on his stuff. even after hearing the stuff from the 64bytes ep. I still go back and listen to shlop and the boreta mix of 64bytes, his old stuff never dies for me. I would honestly recommend the mixtape over robotsextape, personally. If you havent heard it, you'll see what i mean. his music has a very different sound and direction now, not in a bad way. he's evolved quite a bit over the past 15 years
Massive honorable mention to the 2015 remix of amon tobin - in your own time. Which made it onto the record. Also released on a really dope looking vinyl package for record store day. Fingers crossed you haven't heard this one and get to enjoy it for the first time!
Actually heard that remix many years ago, but I actually forgot about it while writing this video unfortunately. I have made sure will I mention it in part 2
Really good video! I've been listening to EPROM for like 3-4 years or so, and his style is pretty unique. I love music that goes against the standard structuring rules and tries to think outside of the box. He's incredibly talented, and I can't wait to hear what he has in store for the future! By the way, for constructive criticism, it's funny how an in-depth vide about a music producer has sound mixing problems no offense lol either needed to manually get volumes closer or use a limiter because the music is way louder than your vocals, besides that yeah good video.
Bro you should normalize your narration to the levels of the music examples. Watching on desk speakers that expose dynamic range inconsistencies pretty well and I have to turn down the speakers for each music example out of courtesy for my roommate. DESPITE THAT, these videos are a godsend as a lot of these more obscure artists don't have much exposure outside of their releases. Keep doing the Lord's work my guy! Learning so much about the context and scene surrounding these audio geniuses. I love 'Eprom' and never even heard of 'Shades' before!
I try normalize the volume levels as much as I can. I live in a noisy area and my speakers aren't the best so I rely on my headphones most of the time. The levels sound good in my headphones, but I might bring the levels down for music examples in future just in-case for people who listen on speakers with a high dynamic range. Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated!
Brilliant video! Looking forward to part 2. I was wondering, did you make the black and white graphics at 15:18 (the goetic sigils) ? Or are those graphics that Eprom has used at some point? Wondering because I have a tattoo of one of those sigils and it would be crazy if one of my favorite producers had used the same symbol. Still pretty crazy even if its something that you made! It's quite an obscure symbol. btw I have some short but good clips of Eprom playing live a few months ago on my channel, in case you wanna check them out. They're the only videos on there so they're easy to find. Cheers :)
Wow, thank you! I have been considering it for a while, but I wasnt sure if anyone would be willing to donate, im glad someone here it willing to support what I do!
We need part 2!
This channel is so peak. Needs infinitely more attention. And you pick my favorite artists.
I second this
Literally
His recent Syntheism show at Mission Ballroom in Denver was insane. His sound design is unmatched.

AFX played Facebang (Acid Mix) in Field Day 2023. I was there and it was mental.
Man, so jealous, watching videos of that show looked absolutely insane
ive been a fan for damn near a decade, one of the goats in bass music.
So rare to find someone who's followed him for so long. Who else do you like?
Amazing!! Would love to see Supertask/Lab Group/Charlesthefirst

WTF 😮this is exactly the kind of video I want to watch about exactly the kind of artists I've always wanted to know more about. Subbed

Enjoyed the deep dive into Eprom’s other collabs
"Eprom - Koummya" is still one of the best electronic pieces of music of all time. Big love for making this video
Koummya is such a good track, that whole PineappleEP is incredible
Constantly impressed as to how in-depth your research goes for these artists. Been wanting to learn more about Eprom for a while now, so thank u!

Yeah I think aphex played something from Eprom at Sonar Festival in Barcelona this June. Not 100% sure if it was eprom tho.
He did!
