Remembering that early dungeons can be... kind of finicky when it comes to damage numbers, you decide to heal early, muscle memory going to afflatus. Whoops, you chuckle, remembering that one doesn't unlock for a few levels. Your finger moves a few keys over, and you hit your GCD heal workhorse, cure II. The tank takes more damage, and almost dies now. Wait, what. Your heart sinks, your eyes dart to your hotbar. Cure II doesn't unlock until level 30 - and this dungeon is synced to 27! In a panic, you open your actions menu, eyes scouring the list to find that worthless newb trap, but its too late. The tank falls, and you can feel the judgement of the universe closing in. Everyone is laughing at you, you, the perfect legend, the master raider, clearer of all content, because you let a tank die in the first pull! Your stomach falls, you forget how to breath. You mess up your raise combo, and swiftcast aero by mistake. A DPS dies. The laughter gets louder. Your hands are shaking so hard that you drop your mouse. When you pick it up, the last DPS is dead, and you are on your way out. You wipe. Everyone respawns. Taking a deep breath, you type into chat the words you memorised long ago, the mantra of every healer who has made a mistake. Words you never thought you'd need to use again. "Sorry, fat fingered :("
This is why I keep cure 1 on a hot bar key that I don't use normally just so it is on my screen to switch it's place with cure 2 if I find myself level synced below where I have cure 2 without having to open menus
The best thing is every viera name is lore compliant since they choose whatever name they want after leaving home. Yes even names like Y’lanna Hiqoh which totally aren’t from an ex catgirl.

as a whm player, i only keep cure 1 on my hotbar in case i get synced below having cure 2, and the edge cases where i need to heal but have absolutely no mp and no ogcds up
I keep cure 1 on my bar for a similar reason, but also because in the heat of the moment I sometimes miss cure 2 when shit goes south. I keep them side by side so that even if I miss it am still healing
It is also useful when you fall below a level before you have your free mana buttons. Because running out of mana is really easy there ... if you are a shit player. Like me!

I recently played through ARR again on an alt and when I emerged from the cape westwind opening cutscene there were a bunch of markers everywhere, actually got me confused and activated a fight or flight response until I remembered where I was lol
So about the LB thing, I got the LB tutorial when I got into my first guildheist before I learned that guildheists are dumb. Then the game slapped me with the LB tutorial, the guildheist tutorial, and about 2 other tutorials at the same time, right when the battle was starting. My thought process was "I need to get this shit off my screen so I can stop standing around and being useless. If it's important, it'll probably come up later." And then it never came up later until a friend told me to put it on my hotbar.

I mean I don't know whether to be distressed or impressed since they made it that far on just base abilities, not even having their job stone. You ever seen a level 80 Gladiator who doesn't even HAVE a job stone to begin with? I'm honestly surprised no one they queued with pointed it out or told them to do their job quests. When I played with them again I had to ask them why they weren't using a job stone and they replied with "What's a job stone?" and also mentioned "I hope other classes are more interesting because I got all my skills at like level 30 and it's been really boring since" Needless to say, I sat them down afterwards and told them how important job quests were and that they're literally missing like 80% of their class by not doing them.
Honestly that's kinda impressive and concerning, although it speaks volumes about their raw ability for the game, hope your friends are having a blast with all their new skills

About the cape westwind point, a funny event happened where my friend group was telling my friend about how cape westwind, which he was approaching, was gonna be extemely hard and requires some massive amount of guide studying as a prank, he got uninterested in continuing past ARR cause of it and legit didnt play for like half a year till he found out it was a meme lmao
You can unequip job stones so you can use the class bars for storage space when making your fancy UI macros that bring out toggleable lists of your job sets.
I made it to the final dungeon of 5.0 when a friend asked me if I knew when to use limit break. I didn't even have it on my hotbar. He very nearly had an aneurysm.

Can confirm that Samurai Catgirls are irredeemable. Deep in the torturous pits of E8S prog, I was dared to Fantasia into a catgirl until I cleared. I immediately felt the dopamine rush as raw unadulterated power entered my form. After a 4 month deadlock, I cleared in a week. I did change back and forsake this power... for a time. Now my raid alt is a catgirl samurai. Once you get a taste of the darkness, it never leaves and you will not be able to forget. Now you must live with your choices and accept the consequences. If you're gonna dress like an e-girl, you gotta get them pretty pink e-girl parses too.

If you're a melee dps there is, in fact, a tutorial for limit break, and that tutorial is called The Chrysalis
