Some of it basic to me (at my level), much of it a deeper dive into analysis of other's holdings, betting strategy which is already helpful. This was great stuff man. GL at the tables, mate.

    Hey Lex, great video! The last read was spot on and I agree on your comment on this call, but don't you think that just because you're so close to the money you could avoid going all in with a such a medium hand? I get it, 1 dollar might mean nothing, but overall (say it was 100 dollars for the bubble) wouldnt it be better to wait for a better spot even though bubble might not be as important on bounty tournaments?

  • @builderbobgg5151

    Hi Lex, I have been loving the series. I got a couple of questions:
    1) How do you adjust your 3B range given that you have no idea if ppl are opening too loose/tightly
    2) Should you ever 4B bluff, I feel like ppl tend to call every playable hand and just 3B their hands they wanna get it in with
    3) When I 3B shove as a bluff or with value (stack around 20bb) I get the feeling that I never get any folds, should I just tighten up or is my perception too results oriented?
    4) When and in which positions can you start open shoving? (With what stack sizes in which positions?) An example from a couple of days ago, I have 17bb with QJs in HJ (no prior action)

    • @willbrown4547
      @willbrown4547 Рік тому

      I’m no pro like lex but I am profitable at micro stakes and these all highly depend on how deep you are in the tourney and your table.
      1. People generally open too loose, call 3b too loose and 4b nuts so I 3b AQ/JJ+ and call suited broadways/88+. There are loads of variables like a bounty stack at 10bbs on the line/ an open and 3 calls where a 3b is much better/ close to the bubble and cover a stack etc where this will vary but I avoid 3b AJ/KT/77 unless I’m short.
      2. Early on, never 4b bluff. Later in the money, I occasionally do so in very specific scenarios eg. button vs sb against a player who doesn’t seem to be too erratic.
      3. Again, depends on your opponents looseness/bounty size/stack size vs theirs but under 20bb vs HJ or later opens I start to shove aces with ten+ kicker and 77+ pairs because you will generally get called very light. I tend to all most suited broadways in order to exploit my postflop advantage and because 3b squeezes are usually rare.
      4. That example is certainly a min raise, under 15bb I start open shoving. You can shove closer to 20bb opening on the button/sb though.
      This is all exploitable play and deviates from GTO but I have been successful at micro stakes making these adjustments.

    I mean I get how the whole thought process around ranges works. But that only works if your opponent thinks the same right? How does that apply to random bozos like me that are just playing by feeling and aren't thinking about their range? For Example if I want to decide wether to call an All in on the river and I try to rule out hands of my opponent, that only works if he plays his hand at least nearly as he is supposed to! Right?

    • @TheRealBruceLouis
      @TheRealBruceLouis Рік тому

      crushlivepoker basically teaches u how to stack random bozos, and they also use ranges but categorize ranges for those bozos in a much more different manner. and just the way u play hands against them is way idfferent than against a pro who knows ranges like its the back of their hand.

    • @ZanttuXD
      @ZanttuXD Рік тому

      The goal of that thought process is NOT to guess what your opponent has, but to play as near to Game Theory Optimal (GTO) as possible. If you play GTO, you are guaranteed to not lose in the long run (other than the rake), no matter what the opponent does. If you play GTO and your opponent doesn't, you will win in the long run. So if you correctly identify a GTO range and your opponent plays a hand outside it, you may lose that particular hand but in the long run you will benefit from it.
      You only want to deviate from GTO ranges if you KNOW for sure that some particular hand is a part of your opponents range. Like at the last hand of the video, where Lex knew his opponent would make that kind of shove with marginal hands and that in fact his QTs was ahead of that opponents range. If he knew nothing of said opponent, he probably would have folded based on GTO ranges.
      You can also adjust your ranges based on some tendencies of players at certain level. For instance, you can be quite sure that people are never 4-bet bluffing on micro stakes, so you can tighten your 4-bet calling range a little. But doing a lot of that kind of adjustments requires a lot of extra studying or great knowledge of said population, and you have to remember to readjust your ranges again once you move up levels. In general, it's a much safer bet to aim for GTO ranges on all levels of play, unless you know exactly what you are doing.

    even though you give us valuable lessons. it kind of feel like a missmatch to hear what you teach, in combination with a 1.1 $ tournament. If a large % of your opponents don´t give a shit about starting hands, betting sizes and so on, then it´s hard to apply anything of value imo.
    To figure out your opponents tendencies is really fucking difficult at this level just for these particular reasons. 😂
