My Dad was at the game that night and he bought back a flyer he picked up from a car windscreen near the ground for me to translate. Basically it was a local travel firm offering trips to Munich for the European Cup final between Cologne and either Malmö or Austria Vienna (The other Semi). Such arrogance it made the win al, the more sweeter.
As a Liverpool fan and having watched our game against Forest, I'm forever getting Forest games in my recommended list now lol. This will have hurt back in 79 - considering that it was Forest who knocked us out of the cup, but I can enjoy these highlights now lol.
Me too, not as a soldier, but landing up by mistake in the infamous "Südkurve" I managed to keep quiet until Forest scored then I couldn't contain myself and got some threatening "looks".
Me too, with a mate "unwillingly" at the wrong end of the stadium, so we didn't get to see Bowyer''s goal. Only the red shirts going up in the air. Great feeling (of relief) when the ref whistled for time.
@@damionsunderpants498 Overall, even a Forest fan like myself would have to concede that Liverpool's superior record bears witness to what you say. However, on their day, this Forest team could probably have taken on any Liverpool team of that era and beaten them. As it is, they beat Liverpool at the beginning of this successful cup run. There was a documentary about a year ago about British success in Europe and in that the Liverpool players from that time were saying just how extraordinary the Forest team were. Add to that the game plans Forest came up with for situations like this Koln game or the 1980 final against Hamburg and it was a very potent combination.
it was a very bad night to be live in the stadium. Cologne was the better team, but no chance. Robin Hood was better. But over all those years, Nottingham is in an nowhere mens land in football.
Hahaha 1.

What Amazing team was Nottingham,I saw both victorious finals,I was a teen and this squad delighted me!!
My first time abroad. Munich May 1979.
Happy days.
Just started a career mode with FC Köln on fifa, after 3 seasons in charge Köln is back in the champions league after a 44 year long absence
Back when only the previous winner, and the actual Champions contested this coveted trophy...now it's just a Cash Cow.
Totally agree....the champions league should be the champions from every European country
It was more fair. Now it is almost impossible for teams like Malmo or Hamburg to reach the finals...

Me too !

we were inspired by Liverpool , the champions. great days back then, great football.

A truly, lovely fairy tale
One of Forest's greatest victories. Very good Koln team.
And Woodcock later joined them to be one of their best ever players.
the story was koln cologne had already booked hotels and purchased tickets ready for the final until up popped bowyer :)
Love this forest kit
One of the greatest team in history
Cette équipe était très forte.et, leur adversaire en finale (Malmö ff) l'était aussi.
Toutes deux étaient meilleures à l'extérieur qu'à domicile.
In there somewhere! Remember lots of British army there on the night. Great trip by bus!

I saw it live on tv in a communist Poland. Forest easily the best soccer team I`ve seen. Aston Villa almost as good.
Villa-good, Forest-better, Liverpool-the best.

Wtf would you know about aging gay couples?
Probably more than we would like to hear 😂
@@mickeytaker4255 As much as I know about rocket science!!!
Cologne, not Koln.
Purple Haze or what? You'll scream the place down? It is pronounced Cologne. Now shut it!
Purple Haze No it isn't, it's pronounced Cologne. Dumb Jock, learn to speak English.
cologne is how english say it but it is koln
hengus pod True, but the annoying English press is going away from that. At least the BBC hasn't succumb, which is unusual.
