I think what I love most is that, in the early days of this channel, viewers sometimes commented that the costumes were cringey (how wrong they were), so Guy responded to the criticism not by ditching the costumes but by leaning into them HARD! And here we are with a beautifully unique channel.

Watches D&D video, hates silly costumes and props. people like that sound like they walk into seafood restaurants and complain about fish on the menu

Translating ideas into action... Yes, indeed, the epitomizing struggle of my life. The ways that you compartmentalize the process like this is very encouraging and informative, Guy. Thank you.

Awesome! Thank you guys for all the inspiration! I just created an RPG channel, and recently did a video on how to get around railroading.

I was just about to work on turning my outlines and brainstorm results into an actual setting presentation for my players, so this is super timely. Thanks!

Interesting note, in the Tomb of Annihilation campaign book there's stats for a weapon called a Yklwa. The campaign takes place in Chult, which is the Forgotten Realms equivalent to Africa. I'm pretty sure this is a reference to the weapon you're talking about in your video. (The stats they gave it, if anyone's curious: 1gp, 1d8 piercing damage, thrown weapon).

Perhaps inspired by the Zulu weapon, although having held many Iklwa I can promise you - throwing them is a very, very bad idea lol. The Assegai is thrown.

    "Thumbs held" interesting idiom.
This series has been great, as your content in general tends to be. Onwards to new adventures!
I actually draw some inspiration from Darkini to make my own tribal plainsdweller race.

man something about 10 spell chanters needing to roll for the effect just screams "someone's going to nat 1 and scream in horrific disharmony rather than sing angelic tunes", but I really like the idea of making the spell a sort of skill challenge.

One thing to consider with the choral magic mechanics: a sufficiently disharmonious singer (failing the check by more than 5, say) cancels out a success. Thus the village has to limit themselves to using their most effective performers for higher level spells, because throwing in 30 half-trained kids who might just roll a nat-20 is more likely to just cancel out the spell altogether.
I can also see an option to draw on the Silmarillion's Creation story where an antagonistic force could twist something about the spell (Melkor made some tweaks to the creation of Middle Earth) with a sufficiently higher DC check.

It is always nice to have items like a sacrificial/ritualistic knife ;) the one made of jade and gold and used only by priest class.

Would using both hands on the spear cause more damage? Does it make a difference if the singers are male/female or instruments are played? Are the males the hunters or are they like a pride of lions?
    Just brainstorming.

The magic isn't really any different than elven spellsong used to ritually cast spells above 9th level to get around the spell cap limiter by the goddess.

Whoever down-liked this needs to lighten TF up. Great practical content.

I'm not a fan of the minimum of 10 for a choir. It feels arbitrary and needlessly limiting. Imagine a very simple spell (calming a small panicked animal) vs a very powerful spell (stopping a volcano). There former could involve much fewer than ten, possibly
I propose something more along the lines of high DC checks for the spells, but each subsequent singer reduces the DC. Or perhaps each spell requires a certain number of successes to activate/sustain, making it so an underpowered song would be very spotty instead of just instantly failing

I'm going to be honest - watching you type stuff into fields on World Anvil isn't terribly riveting. I fast-forwarded through about half the video.
