If there is one thing I like to see in these videos, its items that have actually been used. I don't want to feel they are trying to sell me something. Good collection, good video, thanks.
While compass, TQ aren't used widely, knife, headlamp, folding saw, multitool and ropes are always used unless you just nake 5min stop. Every overnight trip makes those tools indispensable.
I'm glad you did this, I've been debating on belt kit or not for a while and every setup I tried made me look like I was about to invade or got lost on my way to an airsoft game instead of just taking a few snaps of the local wildlife, a bit of a stroll and a crap cup of tea.
I love these types of videos. I’ve been building “survival” kits since I got out of the Corps in 1983. It’s fascinating to me to see how other people put theirs together. You have a good belt-kit there. The dump pouch is something that you don’t always see. I like to keep a magnifying lens in my fire kit. I’m not big on the fresnel, so mine are almost always glass. Great video my friend. I look forward to the next one 👍🏻
loved my 58 water bottle pouch belt kit when serving and I still do... Ive tried lots of 'rigs' and carrying on body (smock) always go back to belt order, albeit modern mats....I have recently moved to a traditional means of belt kit with leather crafting etc an really liking it, althought I don't have to do the miles anymore....either way...love belt kit...nice vid. I like belt setups. Carried side arm, med, knife, and water in Navy during brown water time. And for 25 years as a LEO after that. Now its similar to my Nav setup with dump and possible pouch.
Thanks. Great ideas on what to do with my belt. I will sew elastic on it to make it so I can clip my needed stuff on me. I will add a small water bottle on mine, along with most of the stuff you have.
Great stuff Tom. Definitely a handy way to keep your most important equipment always on you. Really like those dump pouches. They are fantastic for foraging, collecting tinder etc. Nate
Love the belt. Love love light weight carrying. Wore similar black belt with three sections to go with all black 'uniform' at Harry and Meghan's wedding for all day session mingling in crowd. Also wore patch saying, 'Maghawir' (commando) in Syrian/Lebanese Arabic. Naturally got swarmed by cops who looked in belt pack to find biltong, two bottles Lucozade and gloves. Had a good time with cops thereafter. Somebody had to test response time on direct route Harry and Meghan would pass later eh! By the way, the cops only had water and dry biscuits. They deserve better than that for main events. Cheers again. Hope more young people watch your show. You teach them great life skills for emergency etc. Priceless!!
Great guidelines I need to sort mine out. It's Bundeswehr pouches but having used 58 pattern webbing in an earlier life I seem to be still indoctrinated with the old school idea of having a full overnight kit minus sleeping bag, which works if you've got a yoke on it (in which case it's no longer belt order) but not as a belt kit as it's just too heavy and cuts into your pelvis. Think I'll ditch the big butt-pack style pouch and add a second water bottle pouch instead, and put the contents of the buttpack in a side pocket of a bergen which I can unzip and add as a daysack if I want that more complete kit.
Great video. As always, you talk about what you got, why it's there and how you use it. Straight and to the point with no filler. I'll have to get one of those drop pouches. I usually use an extra dry sack for that but having both hands free definitely sells it.
Very nice video: a H harness with a well set up belt provides a lot of field flexibility. I particularly enjoy a modified “58” modified British kit with kidney pouches.
Great video, ive got a very similar setup, only difference is mine is bassed on a viper tacpack/response pack as I can quickly shoulder sling it and it attached to bike easily. otehr belt bits can then attach to response pack to make and all in one, or response pack can have molle remoevd to belt, and worn itself on a belt. Also tip for anayone wanting to go budget, a lot of molle pouches can be had very cheaply from Aliexpress, also flashlights, be wary of quality of coarse.
My belt kit has to be built around a 12gauge cartridge belt and has low slung movable pouches an open top dump pouch for spent cartridges, rubbish and anything else I may pick up. I also have on it, a folding saw and medium size lock knife, green string, and para cord for hide building all for my shooting. Water and a pouch depends on temperature and how close my bergan is. Individual personal first aid and leatherman, top left pocket, where else😉
Would you rate/recommend this type of setup for, "Bushcraft Beginners" or is it because you're used to wearing a belt kit? Another great review, as I said before translates well to camping and hiking, I have been thinking about adding a belt with some equipment not just to carry more but more for quick access. The only thing I really carry on belt is leatherman, certainly going to add a possibles pouch and first aid kit. Keep them coming.
I call mine my POM Kit (stands for Peace Of Mind Kit). It's in an old black and white zip-up toiletry bag with a handle on top. I've siliconed the inside of the bag so I can carry water in it. I have a supplementary belt-loop bag in it so if I HAVE to carry water in it I have something to chuck everything into. I have two ziplock bags of 600ml capacity each to carry more water. My SAK Pioneer. Good firestarting stuff including something called a Fire Buddy (looks like a small candy bar and you just light the wrapper.) I've got a lot of stuff in that bag... It weighs 1.8kgs. It fits perfectly into my handbag as well...
That’s a great set up and there’s sound logic behind it, and I like the practicality of having everything to hand. I’ll definitely be looking at setting something similar up for my own requirements. Thanks for sharing the video. I’m a relatively new sub to the channel and so far I’ve enjoyed all the new posts I’ve seen. I’ll have to set some time aside to watch the older posts. No need for a yoke as it’s quite light. Also if you add a yoke it looks too much like a set of webbing (LBE to you). No need for a waterbottle as this is for short range stuff. It’s not some kind of make believe survival kit.
Great Video. Great Belt Kit. Glad I found this Video and your Channel. This kit is well thought out, mostly high quality stuff in it, no bull shit. Also looks very clean. Of vourse there are alwys details to discuss that come down to personal taste. But all in all one of the best Kits i have seen yet. Also I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward for more videos.
Nice work....clean and uber capable. Great handy pouch for the Bacho. With that the ESSE and Multitool you are set for a quick compound set up anywhere. I looked at my zipper busting IFAK today and thought how much I really need to streamline it. As it is you would think I was prepped for taking out Appendix in the Bush. That Direct Action stuff is Deeeeluxe. The dump pouch is an extra extra cool design. Thanks ! 🇺🇸💥🇬🇧🌟
Hi Tom. Just re- watching all your old footage. Great video as always. Good content and well delivered. One question for you regarding your jacket you are wearing in this video. What brand is it and where to purchase one. A link will be great. Would you possibly make a video on your clothing choices for different activities and why you selected them. That would certainly interest me and others i assume. Be safe and ready pal.
I've been contemplating making up one of these for a long time, but perhaps with something a little more old-school: the Sam Browne belt. I've been wondering if it might be a good way to carry the 2-lb. kukri knife that's an intended part of my gear....
If I go camping these days it`s by bike. My knees just can`t cope with a heavy pack anymore. On a day walk I wear my old combat jacket with every pocket full of kit and a day bag with my flask of tea ( and my newly added emergency tin). Here in France an essential item is a hardwood walking stick. Wild Boar and nasty hunters dogs can be bumped into at any time in the forests, and a stick at least makes me feel brave.
Great video. Would it be too much to ask to post a link to the Dump Bag and the IFAK?? I really loved both of them. The idea of a compressed dump bag is marvelous. And an IFAK that you are able to deploy without taking off your belt...GENIUS!! CHEERS 🤙
My eight component fire, water and signal kit is combined on a 2 inch X 3 inch signal mirror with all components mounted on the other side of the mirror. I have a retractable whistle, a silva compass mounted atop the lid of my water purification tablets container, a removable 650 lumen flashlight (torch), another container with fire tinder for about 14 fires, a ferrocerium rod on one side of the mirror and a diamond hook and knife sharpener at the bottom of the signal mirror. I have a lanyard for wearing the kit around my neck with a cord lock at the rear of my neck to reduce the diameter of the lanyard about my neck to reduce the swinging motion of the kint and a tiny detachable buckle to remove the kit from the lanyard. The flashlight (torch), has a hand lanyard attached to the neck lanyard. I also have a small knife laying over the signal mirror with a hand cord loop on the lanyard, attached to the kit with a rubber band. The kit is a highly integrated group of essential gear readily at hand without the need for delays in searching for the critical gear described normally stored somewhere and separate in a backpack. I also have gear stored on my belt as well. My Diy Dynemma 4.7 ounce tent with titanium stakes, and a DIY heat reflective sleeping bag/bivy with a heat reflective ground sheet, stored in the rear my Mora knife up front, side. My dad's miny multi-tool front, side opposite the knife side and I working on reducing my folding saws' handle with a half the weight modification for mounting on on the multi-tool side of the belt. Tested the thrusting moments of the belt with all but the saw and found no noticeable thrusting. All the gear on the belt are stored horizontally to reduce/eliminate thrusting moments.
Great video and nice belt kit. I also enjoy the outdoors, hiking, bushcraft, camping, and survival. I love my packs, pouches, and kits. Kind of an addiction, but could be worst LOL. I have a bushcraft belt, daypack, and large pack which are always changing, but finally close to having everything how I want it. My bushcraft belt started out small but now is a full survival kit including shelter and cook. I actually wear it with my pack so I always feel prepared. Again great video and I am enjoying your channel!
Nice, but I would try to figure out a way to add a woodworking tool set/pouch somehow myself, with an awl, a straight chisel, a curved chisel, a 1/4 inch hand drill, and a couple of other things.
Great Video I have a similar belt kit Tom Mine comprises around Warrior pouches and belt, My Knife is a Rick Hinderer made in USA, I have a Kathryn Water filtration Bottle, Like your Drop Pouch, Must get One.
Small request from brethren from across the pond. Possibly have ebay or amazon links to products that are similar or the same as the ones you reference. Love the vid will be watching more.
Looks well thought out to me I never understood why some people Carry their knives on their packs. Always thought that a knife should be on your belt for obvious reasons. Same with your pistol if you’re in a place where getting and carrying one is an option. Not sure why proper belt kit kind of fell by the wayside… it’s still definitely got a place for me! Im a big fan of the American ALICE system. It’s solid gear and it’s ridiculously CHEAP.
@@flashgordon1262 they're standard issue in the UK Armed Forces, they enable you to put compression directly onto a wound in order to help stem blood loss. Far better than the old field dressings we used to get.
What a well thought out belt. It's a shame you can't add a Browning or Glock service pistol. JK.. I know us Americans can't go anywhere w/o a gun... 😁 I've recently updated my Batman Utility Belt w/the IFAK like yours in the small of my back for left or right access. Great video!!! What a fun gift to build up for a 14 year old (my Son) ... Or anyone really.
That’s some legit kit! Lots of possibilities for applications.
Really like the set up. But I most definitely would add one of my steel canteen’s. Maybe attach the dump pouch in the Leatherman to the canteen cover.

great set up there, i just got some surplus webbing for my gear, good and stong and wont let you down eh

That is a really nice set up mate!
Cheers mate
I'm one of those guys that hates having things on my back,. I've tried all kinds of things but keep coming back to web gear and a smock.
Nice, but I would try to figure out a way to add a woodworking tool set/pouch somehow myself, with an awl, a straight chisel, a curved chisel, a 1/4 inch hand drill, and a couple of other things.
Very nice kit. Thank you
Great Video I have a similar belt kit Tom Mine comprises around Warrior pouches and belt, My Knife is a Rick Hinderer made in USA, I have a Kathryn Water filtration Bottle, Like your Drop Pouch, Must get One.
Small request from brethren from across the pond. Possibly have ebay or amazon links to products that are similar or the same as the ones you reference. Love the vid will be watching more.
Nice kit 😀👍
Superb. Loving the channel. 🤘from 🇨🇦
Cheers mate! 👍
1st layer in pockets, 2d later on my belt (with suspenders) love it. do require all belt to be load rated
Yep l didn’t even go into my pocket contents. I did a series about the three layers of a soldier’s kit carriage recently.
Looks well thought out to me
I never understood why some people
Carry their knives on their packs.
It’s solid gear and it’s ridiculously CHEAP.
im having to google a few of the items you mention ...thats a good sign!
Fair one! I'm going to put some links in the description as so many people have asked me.
@@PreparedPathfinder it was the israealy bandage thingy..never heard of it seems good though!
@@flashgordon1262 they're standard issue in the UK Armed Forces, they enable you to put compression directly onto a wound in order to help stem blood loss. Far better than the old field dressings we used to get.
@@PreparedPathfinder Didnt know...i got as far as army cadets ...not quite as professional as the big guys ,they do look good though
@@flashgordon1262 yeah they're decent mate. I just put links to everything in the description.
I don't have a battle belt, however your contents are very similar to what I carry in my hunting vest, if that counts....
I love ISEE knives, but i can not find It here in Brazil! Unfortunately!
Give a silky laplander a try, love mine
This is a Laplander mate, by Bahco. I heard the Silky ones are decent.
Great video and information 👍 thanks for the video
The olive green S10 respirator haversack works for me.
What a well thought out belt. It's a shame you can't add a Browning or Glock service pistol. JK.. I know us Americans can't go anywhere w/o a gun... 😁
I've recently updated my Batman Utility Belt w/the IFAK like yours in the small of my back for left or right access.
Great video!!! Thank you for posting...
Cheers mate 👍
