God what a beautiful man. Staggeringly good looking back then. Impressively cool at any age.
Forgotten Gem . My favorite is when Walken goes in to his crazed wide eye moments. You really feel he is possessd during those scenes.

Great movie back on cable TV during the 80s
One are my favourite movies, so underrated.
I was babysitting and it was the only movie on TV, I have now watched it 20 times at least.
I walked 7 miles to see it. Had to E&E back home. Bad neighbors.

I'm stalking your Chris Walken videos...I swear him and Helmut Berger were probably the most staggeringly gorgeous male actors ever. They have what you call an otherworldly beauty about them.

Jamie Shannon is two steps this side of a psychopath, but he is the guy I want on my side when the situation gets ugly. Christopher Walken was perfect.

I so agree. I have never seen a man as beautiful as he was in “The Deer Hunter.” I went to it 5 times as a teen just to gaze upon him.

Looked like Bowie
I watched this film last night - bought on UA-cam Movies - and this scene wasn't in it.... and a number of other things seemed to "jump cut" (Tom Berenger's character, for example, appeared out of nowhere...), anybody know about the different cuts/edits of this film? Wikipedia says it should be 1hr and 45m and that was the length of the film I saw.... but clearly it was an edited version. I HATE it when films are cut.... I can't think of a single film that was improved as an edited version.

Ah you have such good taste. He’s been my cinematic beau for over 40 years & I was just a little girl the first time I ever saw him in “The Anderson Tapes” I think. Although he looked a bit like James Spader back then. Chris acknowledges that he was “a pretty boy” at one time but no longer. He said he is glad he’s not so pretty anymore since it makes him more interesting. I think he’s fascinating, period, no matter what his age or looks. The very definition of cool.

I NEED to know the title and/or the artist of the fast-paced song that's playing on the radio during the scene where the mercs are first at sea on the freighter and preparing their weapons for war. It's a female singer and she's singing in English but her accent is so thick that I can only make out a few of the words. I'd LOVE to find out the info on that song & if it's available anywhere!!
