  • Despite having 12,000 HP, the fight is nowhere near as complicated as the Nyx Avatar fight from the Journey. This is mainly attributed to Erebus' rolling affinity based on what form Erebus is currently in:
    - Offensive Form: Takes 50% damage from Fire, Ice, Elec, and Wind.
    - Dark Embrace Form: Takes 50% from Slash, Strike, and Pierce.
    - Stunned Form: Requires ~1200 damage to be dealt in order to cancel Dark Embrace. After cancelling Dark Embrace, Erebus is Stunned for one turn and takes 150% damage from all attacks except for Almighty
    - In all forms, Erebus takes 75% damage from Almighty.
Use Assign Target with Mitsuru to avoid her wasting turn with Mind Charge. While Erebus is Attacking Form Aigis will be the Support and contribute damage whenever possible using the equipped weapon that Aigis has while having Loki equipped. Aigis should save up a Mind Charge and hit Erebus when going into Dark Embrace.

Overall, The Answer IMO is not too bad.
    - Compared to the Journey's Guardian-Type enemies, The Answer is a bit more lenient on the usage of Ailment skills, especially Virus Breath, in fact the only Guardian-Type enemy that is immune to any form of Ailments are the Musha Trio.
    - Dodge/Evade passive IMO feels kind like the Dev's attempt to replicate the feel of SMT's Press-Turn where the Player needs to weigh their situation before trying to exploit a weakness.
    - EXP gain seems pretty generous provided the Player is relatively on or slightly below the enemies' level in the Dungeon.
However The Answer's gameplay isn't without its flaws.
    - The lack Persona Compendium really hamper's Player's ability to experiment with different strategies.
    - The AI's choice of action on Heal/Support after learning the Break skills is really annoying. In fact, it is safe to replace the Marin Karin meme with the AI using Break skills, consider the AI will refuse to use healing skills unless someone is at critical HP while there is a valid target to use the Break skills on.
    - Despite finding a use for the 'Assign Target' bug, it is still a programming bug that causes Confusions.
The Final Tally for the usage of each party members, not including the Colosseo Purgatorio part:
    - Akihiko: 2 battles, not as useful in The Answer compared to the Journey due to most early enemies blocks Zio, and Ice being a hard weakness to cover for end game.
    - Junpei: 3 battles, a couple of enemies being weak to Fire, plus his specialization in dealing with Magician and Priestess enemies with his normal attack due to 2h-Sword can deal increased damage to these Arcana Type enemies.
    - Koromaru: 3 battles, earliest to learn his Single-Target -Dyne and Multi-Target -Dyne spell with innate Fire Boost passive. Agility buff and his high Agility stats can somewhat offset the enemies' Evade skills skills.
    - Mitsuru: 3 battles, high reliable magic damage output where needed, especially in cancelling Erebus' Dark Embrace.
    - Metis: 3 battles, the exclusive party member of The Answer is pretty versatile, however what prevented Metis from being used more is due to: pretty much a lot of Guardian-Type bosses resist physical attacks; the abysmal magic stats makes her magic only useful for knocking down the enemies instead of doing any meaningful damage without Magic boosting accessories.
    - Zero for Ken and Yukari unfortunately :(

ken fits into a lot of team comps so i’m surprised he didn’t get any use. gg on another challenge complete… and i still haven’t made any progress in my low level run since january. lmao.

Ken was a great party member in a regular playthrough, however in the context of this challenge run, there are better options. Some notable examples:
      - Neo Minotaur ~ Akihiko can output much higher damage Elec damage than Ken could with his Innate Elec Boost + Indra Bracers, and Akihiko learns Ziodyne 2 levels sooner than Ken.
      - Spastic Turret Encounter ~ Akihiko has multi-target Elec spells, so the 'Assign Target' bug would allow him to target all enemies instead of just one, plus same with Neo Minotaur, Akihiko's Elec damage would be higher than Ken's.
      - Conceited Maya ~ Koromaru despite his lower Magic stats would still be able to output higher damage than Ken, since Koromaru can have both Boost + Amp with the use of the Bracers accessory whereas Ken would just get Amp.
      - Rebellious Cyclops Encounter ~ Acheron Seeker would relentless target Ken's Dark weakness, unless it is covered by the Ring of Darkness or the Dark Feather accessory obtained from Shuffle Time. Koromaru shares the same problem where an accessory slot needs to be sacrificed, however Koromaru has access to Fire Boost and an Innate immunity to Fire which means at least he can block off Acheron Seekr's Fire damage. Ken would have to tank both Fire and Wind damage from the Seeker.
Ken's lack of the element dedication is a hindrance in the context of this challenge run.
I assume you got past the Reckoning Dice in your Low Level run?

@@yuzu7361 nope. i stopped all progress when reload came out. i think the plan for me rn is to fight chidori first and if i still can’t kill the dice with the strat you used (my levels are a lot lower than yours so it might not be as feasible) then i might have to do my first bit of optional exp for the run.

Can you tell me more about the Assign Target bug? It doesn't seem well known at all.

    • @yuzu7361
      @yuzu7361  15 днів тому +1

The short summary of Assign Target Bug is your AI ally will use target-all spells to exploit weaknesses instead of the intended effect of targetting the enemy marked.
If you are interested, I have two videos in the Answer playlist that utilizing this bug to my advantage: Spastic Turret fight and Rebellious Cyclops fight.

the answer both highlights a lot of what makes the a.i. tactics fun but also highlights some of its hiccups. i thought it was a pretty fun time even if the story structure was a bit repetitive. gameplay loop wasn’t too repetitive for me personally cuz of the diverse boss fights compared to the journey but i can see how it can get a little stale.
off topic, but have you played reload?

    • @yuzu7361
      @yuzu7361  2 місяці тому +1

The AI was, IMO, programmed to be pretty competent in term of choosing the optimal offensive options. Two notable examples that I can think of are the Junpei & Koromaru fight and the Erebus.
In my previous playthrough, after scanning Koromaru, despite giving Metis the Vayu Bracers, she would still go for Bufudyne from time to time, this made me test out Ice skills and learned that the Metis is going for Bufudyne because Ice damage is given a damage multiplier on Koromaru.
Erebus is another example, the AI knows to only use physical attacks while Erebus is in Offensive Mode, and switch over to Magic(yes even Metis with her abysmal magic stat) when Erebus uses Dark Embrace, simply because they knew there is a damage reduction applied to the respective forms of Erebus.
The same cannot be said about their Heal/Support counter part, especially the usage of multi-target healing and the usage of Break spells in The Answer. The biggest offender of the Break spell usage would be the Rebellious Cyclops encounter where Mitsuru and Yukari, while set on Heal/Support, would try to use Break spells on ALL of the enemies on the field and waste their SP in the process, which may or may not be beneficial to party's ability to take down the enemies.

As for Reload, I have not played the game myself, so I cannot comment on the newly added content.
Though I will say the Roof Top scene in Reload for the English Dub from what I saw online just does not quite hit the same way, despite the Japanese Voice Acting still able elicit the same amount of impact(for me at least) even with the some dialogue being omitted in Reload compared to the original Persona 3.
The Tartarus portion from what I saw, while some positive changes here:
      - The Tartarus new layout(to an extent)
      - Re-balanced bosses around the inability to change the protag's weapon(Portable just did a one-to-one copy of the original with P4's Combat mechanics).
      - The inclusion of Monad Doors.
      - Full moon encounters being buffed, so they are no longer too easy(at least until their attack pattern is figured out)
Some changes just kind made me scratch my head:
      - Getting rid of the ability to split up and cover more ground for farming chests and find the stairs.
      - Your team announcing every little of new information to the Player such as 'there is the Stairs', 'there is the Teleporter', 'there is a treasure chest', etc. In the previous installments of Persona 3, these information is ONLY announced to the Player if they are in split up mode, which makes sense.
      - More quantity of Mini Bosses instead of more quality meaningful Mini Bosses. Tartarus Guardian in the original serves are actual Guardians to test the Player's ability to utilize the tools provided by the game. Reload's Guardians just feels like it needs to be there out of obligation, plus Guardian in Reload don't look too different from the Trash-Mob you fight in regular-encounters.
      - The vast major of the enemy AI in Reload seems to have a scripted attack pattern, meaning once it is figured out, the Player can anticipate and block all incoming attacks, except for Almighty, accordingly.

      - Conceited Maya encounter took a couple of tries to come up with the strategy to limit the summoned Jotun of Blood to just one while ensuring not having the Persona's weaknesses exploited on Aigis.
      - Acheron Seeker + Rebellious Cyclops is the most annoying, simply due to have often Evade skills kicks in even with Koromaru's high Agility stats.

@@yuzu7361 Wasn’t expecting the Jotun of Blood, but yeah my number one guess was the damn Archeron Seekers and Rebellious Cyclops.
