Playing drums will definitely inform your bass playing. I started on drums, then moved to bass and guitar, and that drumming foundation definitely has made a difference in playing in time, feeling the groove, etc.

I have to admit that I am truly envious of Miss Ellen. To be able to grow up in that type of musical environment must be great. And to have parents that encourage her is just outstanding. Thanks so much for sharing.
Ellen's musical skills are growing thick, now she is adding some drumming tho her set of tools. It is really handy to know how to play several instruments.

Oh this kid is going to be something else. I may be in my 70s when she takes a world stage, but will go and see her perform. I started guitar at 12…I still play at 64. But this kid is special.

@@Robil63 true, but I meant actual writing, performing, and touring on live stages. UA-cam certainly shows her developing, and amazing, talent. But she is still a child. And unless it’s live stream, it’s not a “performance.” I make many you tube videos, but I also pick and choose what will be posted. Rarely do I do a live stream simply because I’m not a strong performer. Anyway, your point is noted. Peace and love!

Wow, what a lovely kit. I think that Ellen is going to have some fun learning another instrument! She already has the ear for rhythm and timing, so it seems a natural thing to take on percussion instruments.

I started taking drum lessons at age 11! That was after playing the piano since age 5.
I taught myself guitar at age 14, and learned to play the bass in college, as part of my jazz education.
You're going to love playing drums, and, of course, you're going to be an awesome drummer, just as you're an awesome bass player! 💖
A stage custom is a very nice kit to start. It would also be a good idea if you could sing. It would open a lot of doors for you in the world of music. Have fun!

Now that's awesome, that's what I grew up playing, i used to have a 7 piece set of Pearls black in color. I don't play anymore but I sure do miss them. You're going to do great on the drums but if you want to be a musician it pays to learn all the instruments. I'm looking forward to hearing you on those drums

Wow now that Ellen has a set of great looking drums it's time for her to play to How Long by Ace from 1974.. the song starts with the base , carried by the bass and ends with the bass and from the start the drum comes in just a few beats from the bass
..... It's a simple cool song I think she will love to play along with and show us just how it's suppose to be done.. it'll be funner than pealing off the sticky wrapping. 😊🎉

Owning a drum set changed all my playing, and nobody, nobody drums like me. If you have the space for one, the sound barriers, and the drum mic's, record us some drums, you're going to love the creativity that comes from drums.

Ellen ur like my Son. He used to be the drummer for Lake Effect but now plays guitar for same. Every once in a while he jumps back on in shows lol.

Wow setting us fans up to high expectations, I'll always wish Ellen well in life as a whole but there's still school in her growing years that we can't ignore. The guidance of her dad is the best she can ever hope for. So I can't get selfish about what instrument Ellen will conquer next.

Oh yes, now your on my spot on the stage. I've been playing since 1964 when the Beatles hit America. I've loved your talent before but now you're entering where are my heart is. I already know what you'll surpass me no time at all and you've already developed your rhythm. A lot of it is in the wrist action, and developing your kick pedal leg muscle. I don't practice enough now but at one point I could do a roll with a single bass pedal. Triplets quadruplets you name it I could do it. It's getting that front muscle just above the ankle. Im sort of self taught other than high school. You are surrounded by great teachers. You my dear are a rising star and have already proved yourself. I greatly admire you. Steve

Stage Custom Birch kit. Great choice. Can stand up to kits that sell for 5 times their price.
The stage custom snare is a little 'puny' but if you put a 'big fat snare' skin on it, the harsh overtones/rings will mellow out.
Have dad save up for a Ludwig black beauty brass 6.5 x 14". It's pricey but will last you a lifetime. You can probably find one used for half the price of a new one.

Jimmy Chamberlain uses Yamaha Absolute Custom Stage kits, nice choice. Chad Smith is known to use Jimmys signature snare.
