In twilight's grip where shadows sigh,
Beneath the dear weeping willow's cry,
I stand alone in whispered woe,
As echoes of your laughter flow.
Oh fragile thread that fate unspooled,
By love entwined and so cruelly fooled-
With aching hands I did bear the weight,
This heart once bold now meets its fate.
Rip my heart out - render it bare!
Leave bloodless echoes on the air.
For every hope you do cast aside,
An empty vessel swells with pride.
The poor stars above me no longer shine,
They murmur tales of when you were mine;
And so I wander through this night,
A ghost adrift devoid of all light.
So take this heart - a relic worn,
From joyous days to nights forlorn.
Let silence cradle my awful grief anew;
For in my chest it beats still for you.
Beneath the tombstone’s so heavy stone-
A love once fierce now's trapped alone;
Yet even here amidst this vile decay,
I will find my peace some distant day.
So rip it out ... a most final plea-
And leave behind what's part of me.
In memories forged that do me so very sadly define,
I'll carve your name wishing you were forever mine.
