4K Walk - SUNWAPTA Falls - Jasper National Park

This walking tour of Sunwapta Falls in Jasper National Park is my first video from a recent trip along the Icefields Parkway (known as one of the most spectacular drives in the world!).
Sunwapta Falls are just a short diversion from the Icefields Parkway and well worth the time. The Upper Falls are the most impressive, close to the car park, but this area tends to get very busy.
I personally prefer the Lower Sunwapta Falls, which are around a 2km walk along a peaceful forest trail.

SUNWAPTA FALLS
Sunwapta Falls, located in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada, is a striking waterfall on the Sunwapta River, originating from the Athabasca Glacier. "Sunwapta" means "turbulent water," reflecting the powerful flow.
The falls have two main sections: the very accessible Upper Falls with an 18.5-metre drop and the quieter Lower Falls. The falls are surrounded by dense forests and mountain landscapes, offering excellent views and photo opportunities.
Best visited from late spring to early fall for peak water flow, Sunwapta Falls is conveniently located 55 kilometres south of Jasper along the Icefields Parkway. It has ample parking and visitor facilities.
ICEFIELDS PARKWAY
The Icefields Parkway, stretching 232 kilometres (144 miles) through the heart of the Canadian Rockies, connects Jasper and Banff National Parks in Alberta, Canada.
Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, the parkway features majestic mountains, ancient glaciers, cascading waterfalls, and turquoise lakes. Key highlights include the Columbia Icefield, Peyto Lake, and Athabasca Falls.
This well-maintained highway offers numerous viewpoints, hiking trails, and picnic areas, providing ample opportunities for wildlife spotting and outdoor activities. Open year-round, the Icefields Parkway is a must-drive route for experiencing some of the most spectacular landscapes in North America.
