The Warrior pads look great! I am using some CCM Extreme Flex IIIs I picked up from a college student. I am reminded of the phrase “it’s what’s inside that counts”! I also find putting on a sweater is THE hardest part of putting on all my gear. You made it look so easy and fast!
cw2lido that is my hardest part too! I find if I put my head and one arm right through first and then my other arm, that helps it not get hung up at the back.
@@goalietraining what I do is put my noodle through the noodle hole and then grab the back side or close to the back side as i can get and somewhat get that over my back, then I take a deep breath and try to fish one of my meat hooks in through the jersey, once my hand breaches the sleeve I get a hold of myself I take another deep breath and fight the other hole. Once both arms are through I turn around and grab my towel and wipe away the sweat (really its tears because I feel as if everyone is looking at me) and then compose myself as if I have been here before and adjust my jersey. It is a pain but once its on I feel I am ready for a nap.
I feel like a small child when I'm putting my jersey on. I always have to fight getting it over the back. A little twist & shout works because mom isn't there to help, LMAO.
I’m looking for knee pads for my son. Currently seven. His gear is already heavy for him. Looking for light knee pads. Also knee pads that don’t slide. Recommendations?
Sliding isnt really an issue with knee pads. I cant really recommend a pair of knee pads but if they slide then just use some clear tape on the top or bottom of them
What exact model of leg pads are those again? They look sweet! I’m just starting out and have a pair out of the lending closet. And I got one of those chesties, brand new. I had breast cancer surgery in 2017, and I wanted new, un-flattened padding over my carefully reconstructed goods. I’m a natural DD, though, so I haven’t noticed a ride-up. Yet, anyway. Thank you so much for this video! I’m still needing help to get dressed-I’m that new at it.
Alright 2 tips first no need to put on the neck guard soo soon but do you and second ditch the warrior knee guards i hated those. Also it's fine to put the pads on that way i did it all the way through pee-wee
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. When I wait to put my neck guard on, I sometimes forget and then I am trying to stuff it on with my chesty already on... not easy. I actually LOVE my Warrior knee guards after trying a Reebok pair and Bauers. But I appreciate that they were not right for you. And yes, I continue to put my pads on like a pee wee 🙌🤓. Thanks again for the tips.
Just a fair warning to all. Warrior pants and chest protectors and jocks are meant for small people in general.. if you have bit of a gut they just don’t feel right. I have a 36” waits and the SR jock is tiny as hell. I can’t make it any bigger without exposing a ton of rough Velcro to your body.
Odd. My 6ft 225lb goalie son doesn’t have a problem, but his 38” waist jeans could be sized up, like mine, due to where our African ancestry presents itself. It’s super hard to find roomy thighs and a waist that fits. Everyone does carry their weight differently, too.
I don't feel I need to say it as it has already been said a few times in the comments already, but I am gonna say it anyways...please please please upgrade the mask. I was fine with it until you said that some of the guys could really shoot it. if your good with the Bauer masks the NME 8 is nice, the 10 if you can get it is even better. I went from the NME line to the masked marvels I love the way their masks fit and the level of protection makes me feel very safe.
justin ricard Yes, that is on my list to upgrade this season. I started with all used gear and am slowly upgrading as I save my allowance :). I have taken some pretty good shots off the mask and I have never felt a thing - it just makes a loud noise, but It is on my list to upgrade. Thanks for the advice.
I always find in funny when smaller goalies put on their gear.. it looks like they put on a sumo suit when its all on, hehe.. Great Vid Maria... was it sponsored by Warrior, LMAO!!!
@@irbe2091 $350 vs $1000 for "Good enough and certified safe" vs "Overkill and definitely safe" is the reason. As you allude, it's all about risk management and with mnfg's ~100 years of experience in making helmets and certifying them it's been determined that the $650 in savings is worth the risk as the risk is so low. in 35 years of doing this I have tested and used everything from players helmets c/w dangler right up to a Bauer C1 "pro spec" helmet and everything inbetween. While they get a little better, more comfortable, less jarring, etc with every iteration up the quality tree, there's practically no difference until you start facing shots around what I call the "Junior A" level. Where people can start breaking the 100km/hr level on almost every type of shot and slap shots particularly have a lot of force behind them. At that level you can risk breaking bars in your mask or getting cracks in the shell, at which point you need to replace things. Now you're spending more money and you've negated the savings you got from getting the cheaper helmet the first place time around. Even then it's not a safety thing at that point, it's a purely financial decision. The $350 helmet is still plenty safe for use at that level, it's just not durable enough to make it worth buying and replacing as components break.
@@j.4108 I left a comment but it appears to have disappeared. Probably just a UA-cam thing. Anyway I think we are on the same page. 300-600 dollar goalie helmet should be plenty of protection. If you got more money to throw away I would go to the next modes up.Goaliemonkey has the NME 8 on sale for 279 New. That's probably decent enough

When did you start playing goalie? In some of your old videos you specifically say you don't play the position!
dwdw44 I started about 3 years ago. Just for fun 😁
@@goalietraining awesome! I'm sure it'll give even more perspective on your videos - goodluck!

I would be alittle worried to wear that NME 4 mask. It just feels too plastic .
William Matthews yeah, it is definitely on my list to update this season. Baby steps.
Unless you play against Junior A or higher level skill then any helmet will be plenty safe. You might just get some ringing in your ears.
@@j.4108 as little as we know about concussions/head injuries. Why risk it.
