I think it may be a misconception that the U.S. "wants to rule everywhere" or rule other countries. At least, most Americans themselves have no such plan or desire. We maintain a large security presence overseas because of the extensive alliance systems we have nurtured since World War II. That war was a seminal event in our history, because it revealed how isolated, and potentially vulnerable, we had been up to that point. So, for the United States, security doctrine has been to avoid war by having a large security presence overseas. Of course, that has led us to be attacked frequently, or otherwise drawn into regional conflicts in places like the Middle East. But for everyday Americans, the idea of fighting overseas is not popular, and many of us think our government has unwisely committed our troops in many countries over the years, including in places like Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan.

eh yes and no we've been policing the rest of the world since the start of communism at the very latest. but have been maneuvering for world power status since the American revolution. we haven't been in a just war or a war we haven't provoked since ww2. mainly just proxy wars because our countries government says that every other countries governments are free to be whatever they want as long as it isn't communism lol but yes the average citizen couldn't care less about the rest of the world so you are right there.

@@gregoryking8574 strange isn't it, that in your reference to the attack on the Twin Towers on 9-11-01, the majority of the hijackers aboard the planes were citizens of Saudi Arabia...not Afghanistan. It wasn't Afghanistan that attacked the USA, it was a group of religious zealots led by Bin Laden (also a Saudi citizen) who had taken up shelter in Afghanistan. The US had the approval and permission of the Afghan government to carry out operations against the Taliban in the country: the US didn't wage war against Afghanistan.

To put it in perspective. China has the second largest budget, and the USA spends more than China just on maintaining military bases in other countries.
The reason the USA has to spend so much is because most countries in the world have been given a guarantee of sovereignty from us. Meaning they only need enough military to defend themselves until the USA arrives to save them. Because of this the world as a whole, generally speaking, has experienced a relatively peaceful period of almost 100 years, the longest peace time in all of human history. And not just in "global" wars, during this time even the number of small conflicts has been vastly less than any other time before World War II.

The United States wanted to be neutral in both world wars and in both wars we were drawn in by attacks against our commerce. After World War One and World War Two we drastically reduced the size of our military. Korea and Vietnam caused our military to grow in size and now we have commitments to alliances with other nations to provide military assistance to each other. The United States is in effect paying the majority of the bill to protect not only our commerce but also to provide for the security of our allies. As a soldier, seeing India went with so much towed artillery is smart. That is huge “bang for your buck” and real world those things can be pulled by a pickup or a tractor. Poorer countries trying to establish a strong defense NEED artillery, and towed artillery is much cheaper than self propelled and easily towed by any vehicle with the pulling power (Toyota hilux with Diesel engine will work, and they are everywhere)…. Kudos for India’s military for being smart with funding towed artillery.

America used to be a very isolationist country. Before WWI our armies were almost always very small. In the US civil war we had about 3 million soldiers in the US and Confederacy. In 1914 as WWI started the US had under 100,000 soldiers in the army which made our army smaller than any of the European powers. In June 1939, which was three months before England declared war on Germany, the roughly 180,000-man U.S. Army ranked 19th in the world, smaller than Portugal’s! It was only after we were dragged into two world wars and we were confronted with an aggressive USSR that we finally kept our army large. It wasn't because we wanted to, it was because nobody else was going to keep Europe safe. We didn't take part of Germany, Italy or Japan for our own, in fact we paid to help fix their countries. We didn't invade North Korea until after they attacked South Korea. We didn't send troops into China even though they attacked us in Korea.

In the US chartering of the Force Structure, the Navy is the only Constituted standing force for the defense of commerce. Whereas the other forces are tailored to the needs of the times. So the reserves are peacetime ready reserves, not full mobilization reserves. In WWII 1 in 10 in the US population mobilized in Uniform rolls. The peacetime Navy underwrites global commerce by maintaining at least 9 carrier fleets for the 9 geographic chokepoints on earth for trade routes. So Italians can get goods past Somalie pirates etc...

The US was geographically shielded from most of the devastation of world war ii and the numerous proxy conflicts during the cold war; this meant the US formed alliances with governments all over the world and since it's military was in comparatively good shape, it became the de facto international defense contractor. Whether or not these arrangements still serve a useful purpose today, with bases all over the world and voluminous foreign aid, the entrenched interests of military departments, officers, bureaucrats and contractors keep it funded as well as it ever has been.

    • @xrcassassin3544
      @xrcassassin3544 2 роки тому

The bases clearly have served their purpose and will continue for decades into the future with the response from putin. The whole point of these bases are to prevent countries from invading and gaining too much control in a region. And when Ukraine basically asked America for some military bases there Russia threw a fit because it was one of the few places left that they believed they could regain to rebuild a second soviet union. Sure it's awfully hypocritical for the United States to amass power all over the world but the big thing is they don't assume control. They train the militaries of the country they put bases in along with supply them state of the art technology. Sure there are a lot of trade deals but the vast majority benefit both sides. We never control a country strictly for the political benefits and we always preach democracy. We might not execute our plans as precise as we anticipate but our plans are almost always based on good intentions.

But for the past 105 years, it has found itself as protector/aid to its friendlies and, most recently, as a “police force” for the world.

For myself, I kinda lean more in the direction of the later, (more kinda)... War, stuff is gonna get messed up, and to go and rebuild the enemy's stuff, sure, on a moral issue sounds wonderful, but, that in my opinion of the past 75 years should stop. As I can remember rebuilding things in Afghanistan, and the moment we walked away having completed the structure(s), to drive by a day or two later, and it is either burned to the ground or blown up, just to waste the US's tax dollars. And close to $2 billion was wasted due from that. I knew of two different school building ground up rebuilds, each time 4 times we rebuilt.. build it once, and if they mess it up, walk away. I also gotta mention, although militarily, we (the USA) advanced, but look at what didn't advance in the USA. Our school system is broken, our social system is corrupted, our infrastructure is in a dire need of alarming attention. Our roadways and super structure bridgements are way past their designed / intended life expectancy and in more cases then not on bridges and over passes, 20 years out of date of safety. Our railway system is worn out, and only gets attention when something breaks. So, did the USA really become the victors while dumping a yearly $272 billion into 87 other country's?.. I choose to believe these days, that it is okay to say, "what about us?".. but yes, that is such a powerful question and really needs to be discussed with people who are 99% smarter then me, but none the less, needs to be asked. Thank you for your reaction. Yes the US are always ahead of others, but they are not trying to be the best or king of the world like you see it. Being on the defense through many wars and battles, these encounters with the US are seen as history records of future bettering their military strengths..and they do so in the name of freedom. We cannot wait on any possible attacks from other countries, especially those run by obvious dictators and brutal terrorists, something that will always be the focus for the US. The US fight for their right not to be terrorized or conquered by anyone else, and still in the name of freedom. We can sleep at night knowing our military is always there to protect us...people putting their lives on the line to help us be safe...
And the US are stationed throughout the world in order to help other countries protect themselves as well, in the name of freedom and human rights of those countries. We are not trying to rule the world, our democracy stance and rights to freedom and human rights goes out to all the people of the free world, because that is the right thing to do. No other country will look out for us the same way ...but we will do so for others who do not have the might to fight alone...we always want to let other powers in the world that see the US as their enemy, to know that although we are at the ready at stations around the world to protect the American way of democracy for the American people, but do so also for other countries that are our allies. We cannot take a chance at being lax in any way. As much as we concentrate on our military might, so are the terrorist factions, always hard at work trying their best to not only threaten, but trying to prove their own might... and we know how crazy leaders of those countries think about how the world should be run...and it is not for the rights of humans, to live free and have say in the way their of running their own country...we always help others when and if we can...9/11 was an example, a wake up call...can you forsake our time and effort put into protecting all people? With as much effort afforded through political compromises in situations from our government, we hold our military might accountable to NOT start a war with leaders of other countries. It's a balance of might and what's right...plain and simple. Freedom. Plain and simple. Human rights. Plain and simple. No other country is willing to station themselves around the world in the fight of freedom except our allies. Together they can be a formidable force when facing an enemy threat as best they can...so do not think we are trying to RULE the world ...
From the days America had to fight for their right to not be ruled by the British...to the ugly truth of today's leaders from North Korea, China, Russia and the Middle East...the hatred for the US is real, communism still exists, and the way of thinking how people should be treated is vastly different....
People have the right to run their own governments...
Not be ruled. Not be threatened. Not be terrorized into complying....
That is what separates us from them. And those that put their lives on the line 24/7, fight for us. Fight for you. I think you know own that. India is an ally. We are thankful for that. So please recognize the importance of all governments that are like-minded... we have a common ground...and what is right for the people will always be at the forefront.

One thing is for sure. We don't want to rule over every nation. We want to be able to protect our country and other ally countries from the increasingly powerful countries that want to start war. We never start a war but we will for damn sure finish it, or help other countries finish a war. If we wanted to rule over every country qhy would help other countries? We would want them to fail of that were the case. I know a lot of ppl disagree with this but I have to say to you ppl obviously you have never been in the military, nor been on any mission, or given any orders. For example Russia wants to take over every country that's why they don't help other countries and when they go to war they will kill innocent ppl. The US on the other hand tries its absolute hardest to not kill innocent ppl and qhen it does happen I can assure you I have seen it first hand that those ppl are held responsible and most of the time they are jailed. That was a very offensive statement considering I have first hand been in the military and fought in the worst of the worst situations. Let me tell you something when you are fighting in a war especially when I was in the Battle of Fallujah me and my team was ambushed in the worst kind of way and we tried to call in air support and we could not get any assistance because the war was taking place around hundred or maybe even thousands of innocent civilians if this was Russia on the other hand they would have called in an airstrike and killed every single person including innocent women men and children without a care in the world the US does not do that we would rather lose our own troops than kill innocent people we fight to kill and go after the bad guy that is it.

Historically, India was a non-aligned country, and militarily it was closer to the Soviet Union. You can see that reflected in India's response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So, yes, I think the U.S. would love to have India as an ally, given the current situation in the Indo-Pacific region. As for the Indians, you will have to ask them. The thing that many people don't completely take into account when finding out about the military budget difference between USA and any other country in the world, is that the multiple times per year the USA spend, is that, PER YEAR. So If say the USA spends 10 times more than another country, that is 10 times, each year. So in a decade of course the amount of money that that country has spent, just matches the amount of one year of USA spending. This difference piling up shows the real difference between the USA and other countries.

The United States does not want to rule the world. It is our wish that all the peoples of the Earth live peacefully with each other. In 1941, the Empire of Japan attacked our naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii while we were at peace. Four days later, Adolf Hitler declared war on the United States. We were forced to fight two separate wars, one in Europe & North Africa, and one in the Pacific. We went home after World War one and tried to mind our own business. After World War Two, the United States decided never to let that happen again. So here we are, 77 years later, with the United States the most formidible military power in the history of this planet, and we spend more than the next 8-9 countries combined to maintain and equip a seasoned, professional military with the most technologically advanced weapons and material of any country so that no nation dare attack the United States again.

India is a regional power. In 1971 they decisively defeated Pakistan, which was a US client state.

Keep in mind that the numbers aren't the deciding issue. The QUALITY of the equipment, personnel, and TRAINING are huge deciding factors. For a great example of this look at what happened to the 1st Gulf War opposition to U.S. forces on it's own. The U.S. Marines rained HAVOC on much larger forces in short order!

Honestly us Americans don't want to Rule the world, as citizens we just want go keep peace as much as possible. The best thing about this video is that India and the U.S. would never fight a war against each other. We love our allies. Great video!

Peace through strength. Also most Americans have a positive view of India. Personally I think we should be moving away from China and towards India as far as our economic and military ties. Us and India have many common interests and foes, so a friendship and possibly alliance of sorts only makes sense.

Don't mistake the Americans for the ruling elite.
Everyday Americans just want to have stability / freedom in their country.
The ruling elite do however want to rule the world and exist in every major country to achieve that aim, not just in America.

USA doesn't want to rule the world and a wrong perception. If the US really wanted to, over the years would have done so but its not the mind set,and hence doesn't rule over the world. It is used for security and to protect. As a Navy veteran, I can say I never worked next to a fellow shipmate that wanted to, we were just ready and glad to protect our country.

India wouldn't break ties with Russia, it will only make them more dependent on China, meaning more trouble for India.
