Blonde, Fact or Fiction?

I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about the new Netflix film, “Blonde,” based on the 1999 novel by Joyce Carol Oates. I think the most important thing to remember here is that the book is fiction and therefore so is this film. The author “made it up.” Don’t forget that if you watch it. It’s FICTION. It’s not the true story of Marilyn Monroe. Hear this in the author’s own words in this video.
My opinion:
It is irresponsible to write a fictional novel with characters based on real people, real dates, and real names. Why not just create fictional characters as well, or better yet, a true biography considering that the research for the book was already completed.
With Blonde, the casual fan or viewer will not be able to distinguish which parts may be factual and which parts were “made up.”
The book and now the Netflix film are deceptive, misleading, and are “rewriting history,” telling a story that is not based on fact, which is now forever a part of Marilyn’s story.
