    I could Listen to Alex Speak all day. This man is so informative, and intelligent. He puts his words in such a way that make others look like beginners. I think you missed your calling Alex. You could of been on a Radio Show, or Television show. I know you must love what you do and we love you for doing it. My VERY FAVORITE UA-camR by Far!

      Is it me or does it seem that Doug has view numbers that seem fake and computer generated. Over half a million views for a Dodge Truck. Something smells fake to me. He just is not that entertaining and rather stupid telling us nonsense

    Love my g70 (in Canada). Those who says you could get a German 3 for the same 50k, you are not going to get the same options for your 50k from the Germans.
    I priced out a Merc C43 with the same options (I had to pay extra for the paint, brembo, adaptive suspension, HUB, safety tech...Etc.), it came out to be $15k Canadian more than the g70 sport. It was a very easy decision for me. Oh I forgot to mention that 5 year maintenance is included in the price.
    Plus, it feels good when you don't see the same car on the road often. I have only ran into another g70 twice, in a month, in Vancouver BC Canada.

      Plus. These cars are reliable, now the brand of choice of limo services over the Mercedes. Warranty is also better than any German brand.

      trilingualkid The taxi's are not AMG, just the base models. If MB is so reliable then they should offer a comparable warranty. The other JDM can offer shorter warranties because they're trusted and proven to be dependable. This is not the case with any Euro auto manufacturer.

    • @trilingualkid
      @trilingualkid 6 років тому +3

      MrPunch09 because an AMG is not tune for taxi drivers...their big v8 and not as comfortable as regular models, plus they cost twice the original car. Reliable or not, AMG has proven that over the year, there are people still buying the old E55 AMG and produce amazing power with a simple pulley upgrades, there are also 300k miles E55 out there. Longer warranty does not mean it's a reliable product, longer warranty just mean its more attractive to customers to go to, it's a marketing gimmick, in which you fallen for, but hey whatever works.

      My Hyundai has been very solid and reliable past 8 years too. One tiny issue with a temp sensor but that was fixed quickly under warranty. It's been cheap to maintain and insure. I'm looking to buy a new car very soon. This is currently on the top of my list. I've driven the Kia Stinger which I was pretty impressed but the weird packaging sort of turned me away and wanted to see the G70 before making the final decision.

      I feel the exact same as you both. I have a 2011 base Elantra. Best car we’ve ever had in the family as far as dependability and overall satisfaction is concerned. I plan on getting a new car towards the end of next year. It’s either going to be a Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis and I can’t wait.

    I have been a Hyundai vehicle owner since 2006 with a sonata, then a 2011 Tucson, then a 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec, and now a 2017 Santa Fe. I own the last 2 mentioned and I will continue to buy Hyundai's. But my favorite is the Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. A whopping 429 hp. Really gets up and goes. All in all, none of my Hyundai' s have never seen the dealer for anything. Hyundai has really come from a long way from what they were in the past, mid 80's with their Hyundai Excel. Hyundai is the way to go.

    This is the real steal for Genesis! This car is every bit as good, or better, than it's competition, but at a more reasonable price. Someone shopping in the $100K range is almost certain to be a badge snob, and likely wouldn't consider a Genesis. However, in this class, the G70 may just be able to change people's minds. This car does top out, fully loaded at about $52K US here in Korea. It's a great car at a great price.

      This car is definitely at the top of my list when my lease is up for my IS 300, mainly because of the value. I also rented a G80 through Turo, so I've seen that Genesis can build a good luxury car.

    • @colelockridge5816
      @colelockridge5816 6 років тому +1

      ARentz07 yeah. I wish I could afford this car, it really is nice. Currently have a 08 accord 4 cylinder. It gets the job done and is reliable, that's what I like about it. Otherwise is just bland

    • @iLikeMeRice
      @iLikeMeRice 5 років тому

      I mean, in the 100k range you can get a C63s/m4/lc500/etc, all of which i would say is much better than a g70 3.3t. But you're right, in this class segment it would certainly make a more compelling argument against getting a near base 330i or c300.

    Hey ALEX,
    Another AWESOME Video- TY TY TY !!!!
    I just had the 3.3TT version for 2.5 days and the sun was shining with ZERO rain. I live in Vancouver & am a car guy.
    Here are the 3 negatives: (a) The back seat doesn't accommodate anyone over 5'9" for a journey lasting over 30 minutes. (b) The long term reliability and trade-in value is a HUGE question mark (c) the vectoring is brake applied to the inside wheel- Lots of grabbing going on during spirited driving.
    Now, onto the Positives - EVERYTHING ELSE!!
    This handles like a go cart (it is a Compact car) the steering wheel feels right, the turning radius is one of the best, It has 5 ride selections, the tech is in abundance, the seats can be sporty or comfy, that engine - torque & HP is ample (4.7 seconds from 0-60), the sight-lines are excellent, HUD displays whats needed, the adaptive cruise works really well, the 15 speaker Lexicon sound system is very good.
    I can go on and on.
    The summary is this- If you want a Value filled 4 door vehicle that looks great, has an AWESOME interior, is quick & fast when u want it to be, has the latest tech and your mother-in-law will like it too b/c in comfort mode it drives very smoothly then this is a big contender vs the Germans, Japanese and maybe Cadillac.
    Its an all in price for the 3.3TT V-6 of $57,500 Cdn.
    Book a test drive and see for yourself. Excellent compact 4 door sedan and if u enjoy assertive driving try the 3.3TT. Too much fun!!
    Also, the personal touch and customer service is a huge marketing advantage for them.
    Cheers from Vancouver, Canada!!

      Talal Abdulaziz - Yeah I know it did 4.27 sec 0-100 kph which equates to around 4.17~ 4.2 sec 0-60 mph. That is possible on a good weather, driver needs to stay under 160 lbs, and less optioned G70. Those panoramic sunroof crap weigh too much. Take out the spare tire and an owners manual and you are in for very low 4s...

    Choosing between a mercedes C-class and a Genesis 70 reminds me a lot of the evergoing debate on an iphone 10 against a samsung s9. One is considered overpriced and the other simply ticks all the right boxes

    • @tlf361
      @tlf361 4 роки тому +3

      The S9 definately doesn't tick "all the right boxes"... it simply ticks more boxes than the iPhone, but to many, the iPhone tick more of the boxes they find important.
      Whereas, the Genesis basically ticks most of the right boxes that the C-Class does, and more. Totally different comparison.

      The only people that complain about a lack of car play and android auto are those that never used it before. Only a few apps are used anyway. Maaaaaaan they're gonna be on cue with the badge snobbery. Great review as usual Alex!!! I am indeed impressed by Genesis and all that they've accomplished and seek to accomplish. I remember test driving the original Hyundai Genesis and was blown away by the materials quality and engineering. They've indeed come a very long way. And thank you Genesis for putting actual mufflers out the back along with that functional underbody aero treatment. I do wish that side vent treatment was functional though. Why put anything real-looking but not real-functioning on a car at this price point? Good overall packaging though Genesis.

      Mario Whyte I believe all the vents are functional. From the front side curtain vents, the side fender vents, to the rear valence diffuser vents. Well designed, built, and tuned car. Genesis/Hyundai/Kia just did a podium sweep of J D Powers rankings. Possibly a first ever for a car maker. I don’t think Toyota/Lexus/scion, vw/Porsche/Audi, etc ever performed a podium sweep. Good job!

      The Genesis lineup isn't selling well because (1) the Genesis brand is new, (2) the Genesis brand is focusing on sedans in an SUV market - and as long as they execute well, sales will shoot up when they release an SUV, and - unrelated to my point - (3) it's simply undeniable that Genesis makes fantastic vehicles.

    Had the G70 been available in the US a few months back when I was in the market I would have considered it seriously. I did consider the Stinger and was suitably impressed. I'd had very good experiences with two Sorentos and found the Stinger's performance, driving dynamics, interior layout, and practicality to be very appealing. The warranty coverage and expected reliability and durability were pluses, as well. In the end, though, the Stinger was simply bigger than what I was looking for. It's a GT in the classic mold and I was looking for something smaller that didn't look quite so much like a cigarette boat.
    The G70 seems to have just about all of the pluses of the Stinger and many of the same components/features in a more compact size. Very appealing. Only one minor complaint from what I've seen. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis all seem to think that quilted upholstery conveys luxury. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the furniture in my grandmother's living room. Others may differ, especially if their grandparents have/had different taste.

    Here in Australia, badge snobs abound in the cities. However, I was recently I was 'out in the bush' (ie. before the sealed roads become bush tracks), & noted significantly less badge snobbery where farmers tend to value reliability over status. We don't ever get snow in any towns or country except in good years in the SE corner where The Great Divide rises to a paltry 7 300feet with a few ski resorts. Anyway, motorists don't know what a 'snow-tyre' or all weather tyre is because we're snow free. heat is the main enemy of cars. Enjoy your thorough work.

      Ricky Holmes: "don't put infiniti reliability with Lexus?" Just in between my family, we've owned 2 Infiniti's (mine), 2 Lexus, 93 Toyota Previa, BMW 540i, 2005 Acura TL, 00 Accord, and a Tahoe in the last 30 years. My G35 and M35 have been on par in reliability with Toyota Previa which we sold in 2009 with over 380,000 miles and more reliable than other cars. Ironically, the transmission went out on the TL in 2010 and my brother's LS has had an alternator, water pump, and widow motor replaced x2 recently. Still a good car though. I've yet to, other than regular maintenance, spend a lot on my Infiniti's which are both pushing 150,000k + miles each. You may just had a bad experience or a hater.

    Alex I love you and your reviews, but I hate when people say a car “drives like a BMW 3 Series”. Can we just say the Genesis drives good and not feel compelled to make some old BMW reference. The segment has moved on. BMW is no longer the holy grail of driving. I have no doubt this G70 drives *better* than a 3 Series bc BMW has sucked lately. Even Lexus caught them a half decade ago with the launch of the current but older IS and GS cars.

    Spot on analysis and comparisons. You haven’t mentioned anything about depreciation or lease residual values though. Lexus does well there. My personal preference to replace my older 335i would be the c43, 340i, S4 and then this G70. Also, in the lower trim levels, I found the base Giulia steering to be numb and would take the 330i any day over the base Giulia.

    Alex ..... I left BMW four years ago due to terrible assembly, reliability, and maintenance issues .... and the third time my BMW left me stranded on the freeway was enough for me. Bought the 2015 G80 equivalent and quality and reliability has been more than impressive. Your question on which I would choose in the class is moot .... my experience is that the European prestige badges are poorly engineered, overpriced and prone to failure ..... not so with a Hyundai product. In fact your question is like 'one hand clapping' ..... it's not reasonable to make an assessment on a new purchase without considering personal experience within the 'badge' ..... it's called reputation.

    I love this car...not because I'd buy one, but because it's going to force Acura and Lexus to improve the TLX and the IS, respectively. Acura is already going to use a turbo V6 for future models, Infiniti already has their twin turbo V6, and of course all of the Germans have turbo 6 cylinder engine options. Lexus will be the only one still chugging along with a naturally aspirated V6.
    There is a rumor that the IS will get the same turbo V6 from the LS500, but detuned in the same way that Infiniti has a 300hp and 400hp version of their V-series. Lexus is gonna need it to keep up in this segment.

      Karl P - agreed. Their whole tech look in this car is rather dated already. Tho this car is at least a year old now (we're just getting it in the US finally). The stick up screen needs to go, needs a full digital cockpit (maybe a full wraped screen similar to the Eclass (their concept suv screen is nice)), and full led rear lights (the turn signal and reverse lights are incandescent). It seems like it would be better to wait for an updated version of this car. I was excited about it a year ago. Now, it needs a refresh.

      I agree that it looks much better when it's built into the dash, but everyone's trying to save money. The only difference is Genesis offers is to you, where as other companies charge anywhere from $500 to $5000 for a display, navigation and things that should be free like Apple car play/Android auto.
