  • We are at quarters of FDNY Engine 221 and Ladder 104 at 161 South 2nd Street, where we see Tiller Ladder 104 as it goes on a run to Box 220 at 875 Driggs Avenue between South 8th and South 9th Streets for a structural call regarding Hasidic Jews burning bread in the back lot of their apartment building. The call also involved Engine 211 (26 Hooper Street), and a line was stretched through the building to extinguish the fire. The bread burning is a result of a tradition in the Jewish religion, where the burning of the chametz, or leavened bread, occurs during Passover. There are multiple bread burnings in the area, but most of them were supposed to be finished by around noon. 5 hours later, a group of Hasidic Jews decided to have their own private burning in their back yard. This resulted in the box for Ladder 104 and Engine 211. Enjoy the sound of the response, as well the view of the new rig, which is a 2013 Seagrave Tiller with a 100 foot ladder.
