What I like about Light is that he isn't a typical shonen prog, he's a seinen villain that was first introduced as a protagonist. Something that a certain bird character was once going through ....🕊️
Amazing video as per usual, I just wish you touched a little more on the fact that Light doesn't just want to create this new world, he wants to live in it and be recognized as the god of said world. Contrary to how Spider-Man saves people not for recognition or fame, Light is doing it partially to be recognized and praised as the person who shaped the new world.
Yes I enjoyed the back and forth and the overthinking of the small moments like the tennis game. That was peak death note. But I also loved when light just went batshiii crazy. I forgot what the video is called but I think it’s called “light yagami shouldve won death note” that video is SO GOOD and fr I think they robbed my boy from his perfect victory
I'm not a big fan of Kira's ideology. But it is bullshit that he loses because of Mello's reckless, ill thought-out plan that gets him killed. If Mikami hadn't took the bait, Mello would've died for nothing and Light's master plan would've succeeded.
Death Note was the second Anime I watched. Like you, I watched shows similar to DBZ. But Death Note made me branch out of the bubble I had because of how well it told a story. So I kind of started chasing a high like the one it gave me. But haven't really found any like it since. AOT would have been it but that shit ended horribly.
I love death note but I wanted Light to win so fuckin bad. To cope with this, I decided that the anime ends at ep 25 and that alternate ending with Light laughing at L's grave is the real ending
Here's a little detail in Light's father's death scene. Earlier in the episode, Light does some fuckery so he can hold the DN and not be its owner. If he puts it down, he loses his memory. When Light's father dies, Light drops the DN. So when Light cries his heart out for his father, it isn't Kira putting on an act like normally. It's the real Yagami Light, reacting genuinely to his father's death, and likely having no memory of his involvement in it.
The Virgin late teens me: Fuck Light. L is better! He deserves to die for killing L! The Chad late 20s me: L's cool and all. But Light is far more interesting. He's an egotistical piece of shit, but that's part of why he's such a fantastic protagonist.
Light is a phenomenal character, but the ending, at least logistically, falls short. I find him losing entirely unbelievable. Despite the fact that it's physically impossible to identically recreate the Death Note in one night, Light has used multiple scrap pieces of the Death Note up until this point. One sealed in his watch and a second given to Kiyomi. With the Death Note in question, the only way to be 100% sure of its authenticity is to have a piece on your person at all times. Mikami simply could’ve kept a piece while he was at the gym. Why does This makes his demise impossible. It's made all the more frustrating when Light has the foresight to keep a scrap piece for himself, yet not Mikami. I understand that the intention was: Light's demise at the hands of his own arrogance, but, at that point, my suspension of disbelief was shattered. It didn't work. I believe Light should have lost to his own ideology, dealing with the consequences of the world he created: where fear takes precedent, and deserved punishment just as the criminals he condemned.

It's like Founder Eren making Dina eat his mom, and child Eren being traumatised by it. But it actually makes sense.
when will my pookie goat return :'(
Soon
He’s a neutral type of protagonist, well written.
Not some typical happy-go-lucky teenager generic MC.

I loved the part when light revealed that he had no clue of what he was doing the entire time because he's just an idiot
Oh wait
