Drums first drums are the best metronome for me
Exactly!!! 💯
Think I’m a start with drums first too.
Insane track man! Lol so dope
thanks fam!! you got some crazy beats fam..
@@theycallmeheat we gotta make some heat together then
@@mixlaproduction say less!! you on IG?
TheyCallMeHeat - The Beat Majors @mixlaproduction
@@mixlaproduction followed. let's chop it up on there!!
that sample is so jedi mind tricks. maybe even beatnuts.
Brazilian sample ❤️ é BR poha
This beat is nasty. 🥴🥴 Most of the time I’ll lay down the drums for a groove just like you explained but settling with the right sample or melody is challenging for me sometimes. Dope vid, peace 🍻
I'm sample first, but d@mn I might need to switch up!
Nice Beatnuts vibe.
Cool this is dope man
thank you my friend!!
please drop this shit wahouuuu !!!!
For sure fam!! It’s definitely coming soon. 💯
Earned a sub with flying f colours
Aayyyeeee
My dude that was so clean keep doing how you do it making it look so easy. As far as what I do first with samples it’s samples first then drums. Once in a I’ll do the drums but will end up changing to suit where the track is going.
Thanks Ink!! Appreciate that fam. Yeah, laying drums just giving me a dope foundation. But like you said, sometimes i’ll go in & change the pattern if needed to fit the sample or melody.
If i make sample beat i do sample first and drums second. But beat witouth sample i do chords or a melody first
Oh, it's so cool that you sampled Brazilian music :D
Greetings from Brazil, I really like your channel
Aaaayyyyyeee!!! I don’t discriminate on the genre of music I sample.
Love to you from 🇺🇸
My face is melting!
😂😂😂
Woah, Dope beat !
I think that in the future, I will focus more on making my drums before the melody, because, maybe starting a beat with the melodies & loops is too restrictive... while the opposite of starting the drums First. That gives an unlimited choice of groove (especially if we slice)
edit: You believe me or not, I was just listening to the Def Squad album "Onasis" today and it's clearly a beat, that would match perfectly with the atmosphere of Erick Sermon's style at that time.
Thats hard
I normally chop my sample first, then add drums and percussion. That way i can determine which drums i wanna use to match the sample. But another banger fo sho HEAT!!!
That's another way of looking at it!
Why is this nasty face a global 'producer'/rapper thing? I do it too, for no good reason (when the beat turns out fire) 😅
Very Nice ltrack. I get your thought process. Subscribed
melhor sample kkk
String hits would’ve been nasty for the hook on this jawn 🔥🔥
Agora falou minha língua, Brasil, Nordeste,/Dark Boombap!!! Too much...!!
Track and sample hard nice job my brother
Thanks Eshawn 💯🙏🏽
thats style is baiao a style of brazillian music like folk music
Funky Dope bruh! I can hear Bussa Buss on this joint if you would have added a dope choir vox in the background and used a sine wave for the bassline(on some Nottz Raw shit lol) Yo what was the bossa nova sample? Let me see what I can do with it, bossa nova is one of my favorite flavas to cook with..peace and blessings.
Thanks fam!!! Yeah, i’ll add some extra melodic elements before I release the beat. I had Nottz Raw in my head when I started laying down the sample.
That Bossa Nova sample I found first was by Piero Umiliani - Orgasmo (Bossa Nova)
the fewer parts/layers i have down, the easier it is to add something without messing it up. Because the new stuff has to fit in well with what already exists. so for me, i gotta start with whatever im least comfortable with and tinker with it until it sounds great, and then add the stuff im more familiar/comfortable with. So I do BASIC drums first. Then I mess around with some chords on the keys to figure out which chords i like, and then i apply their timing/duration to work with the drum groove. Then i put that repeat and just record like a 5 minute solo with my keys over top of it, and prune out the bad stuff and clean up/condense whats left of a melody part. Then I add some sort of bass and a bunch of extra percussion stuff. then comes some playing arround with arranging the parts and adding fills and extra layers and FX automations.
Sometimes i do a bassline immediately after the basic drums and then continue with the typical flow. But if i get too attached to a bassline that is very active it becomes difficult to fit chords to, and this can often cause me to abandon the song.
Always I tinker with about every layer of a song during all parts of the process. I might have some great idea for the chords but it just doesnt fit perfectly with where ive put a hat or snare, and instead of moving the chord ill readjust the drums. Doing this can also give me multiple branches of possibilities which sound decent which can help with not getting stuck with the same 8 bar loop for 3 minutes.
word!!
Vim assistir um vídeo para tirar a minha dúvida e vi uma música em português, você acaba de ganhar mais um inscrito.
Bro when that sample came in. Send this to Griselda. Benny the Butcher would kill this.
Benny would go crazy on this!! 💯
This got Flipmode Squad written all over it 🔥🔥🔥
Right!!! 💯
oh boy that bangs.
Shout out for sampling a Brazilian song brother. Beat is fire 🔥🔥🔥 💯
Thanks fam!! I appreciate that. 💯
One of those I wish I could of hat back in that era... don’t trip I will use that shit today and still kill em... double trip this beat with Fat Joe and Big Pun!!! Ooooiohhhhhh Weeeeeee!!!!! Remixed with Red and Meth!!!!!!!! Gorealla!!!!
Red & Meth would be perfect on this beat!! 🙏🏽💯
That's tight. I'm drums first always.
I grew up playing the drums. So drums first. The problem is, I end up with a strong drumbeat but a weak sample. If I sample first, I get a Strong sample, but a weak drumbeat.
you will be able to put together fire drums and samples in no time. just dont give up!! keep working at it.
its a interesting question! a lot of the time i start with the melody because I am looking to find one that moves and inspires me then I tend to assemble the drums around that. however i have tried recently building the drums first and can see how that could beneficial also. I guess its a preference thing.
So if you chop a sample like that of another artists track, even after filters and all that, do you a)still having to give credit to the original artist in your song AND b) would you owe them anything if you sold said beat or made money using their sample?
if you can mask it, and no body knows its a sample. sure. But other wise, the artists or label who purchased said beat will have to clear the sample.
This beat is super 🔥! ! This is the type of beats I want to create. You took the words out of my mouth, redman or even Busta.
Depends mostly what attracts me first. If I hear a melody I want to work with first i build around that Melody other than that I lay drums first then build. Man you have nasty drum beats. I really like this beat.
Fire tutorial man. But Im not gonna lie, when the video started I thought you were Roc Marciano 😂😂😂
But seriously this tutorial helped a lot
Can you do a video using your SP-404?
Yo, this is craziness right here !!
If I'm making a sampled boom bap beat I'll add drums first, for trap, r&b, drill beats etc that I make from scratch I'll the do melody first then add drums.
Thanks fam!! 🙏🏽 I appreciate that. Yeah, depending on the beat determines what I do first.
Drums or melodies first. Just depends on my mood. Your content is something fire brother.
Same here, I mainly do drums first but if the beat calls for it I will do melody first. Thanks for watching fam!! 💯
@@theycallmeheat exactly
Dope bro what's the name of the sample and artist?
TheyCallMeHeat - The Beat Majors
I'm drum first 💘🥁 thank you for sharing this amazing tutorial💘
Word up!! Thanks for tuning in 💯💯
BR .... 🔥🔥🔥
That beat is awesome. I tend to do drums if I don't have a specific melody in my head but if I have a melody in my head that's dominant, I lay that down first. I kind of like the sound when I work on the drums first and then bulid the melody and keys around the drums.
Most definitely!! Thanks for watching my friend. 💯💯
Fam that beat is 🔥🔥🔥🔥had me with the ugly face!!
Aaaayyyyyeeeee!!! Yessir. Thanks fam. 🙏🏽💯
Anytime fam 👊🏾
Every sound has a feeling, I just start with the sound that matches whatever im feeling at the moment, whether it be drums or melody, I always start with feeling.
I’m drums first typically when I’m playing my own keys. But if I have the sample/loop 1rst, I let that dictate the drums.
I used to be sample first. But am changing to drums first.
Why? 🤔
@@jjbing3 I am probably jumping a bit back and forth here - so not yet wedded to one approach. However, lately I have started to play more with drum sounds and trying to get a rhythm that sounds good without any music playing. In theory, i think if this can be achieved, then adding a simple sample would just amplify the beat. An example would be the NAS track "I know I can". It kicks off with a crazy dum beat and then places a simple piano sample over the top without any bass. I could just listen to the drums by themselves.
DRUMMING ALL DAY BRO
This is class😁, love that bass it's perfect! 🔥👍
Thanks Lulu!! 💯🙏🏽
*Nasty face*🥴🔥🔥🌧
Periodddd!!!! Thanks for watching fam. 💯
AI SIM MLK, SAMPLE BR
I m definitely a sample first guy but you do make a good point. I do feel limited when laying down drums. I’m gonna start trying to do drum loops first and see what happens.
Did that last week, I find beat making is easier with drums first.
I've always been melody first, but drums first gives you more opportunities for dopeness.
Drums first
sounds like something from the beatnuts. wow
word up!! they always had classic beats
Raw🔥🔥
Bro your stuff is crazy dope.....but when you start working in MPC or Maschine your production is gonna leave this universe. Remember those words!! Pops
Thanks fam!! I appreciate that. I’ve used Maschine but it sat and collected dust. I just wasn’t i to the workflow. I found myself always back in FL Studio to arrange, & mix the beat. So I was like, instead of all of this I can just do it in FL Studio. Lol
@@theycallmeheat You're stuff is pure fire and I'm definitely a fan. That baseline was just bananas too. Keep doin what you do. Peace!
@@theycallmeheat You should check out the templates for maschine and fl studio, where you can use maschine inside of fl.
You used sample of brasilllll!!!!! hooooollyyyy
Yuuupp! & it came out amazing. Shout out to Brazil 🇧🇷
All your shittt are banger man !!!! Damnnn
Thanks fam 🙏🏽
Dann..........broke my neck bObbing so hard
Hahaaha!!! They will do that to you. Thanks for watching fam. 🙏🏽
if you sample a song do you need to pay royalties?
if it gets placed on a major platform or through major distribution.
This is a brazilian sample... So dope man!!! Really nice!!!
Thanks fam!! I appreciate that. 🙏🏽💯
@@theycallmeheat really dope fam! Jah bless ma brethaa!!!
Hey bro. I'm Swanny River. What advise do you have for someone to like me who's been producing and making beats for a long time. And all of a sudden do have that fire or even the inspiration to create. How can I get that back.
Fire dawg
Where can I get those drums and hihats snare???
That’s my custom drum kit called the “Champion Kit” it’s on my kit site. I provided the link below.
boatloadkits.com/index.php/product/champion-drum-kit/
It depensds when if im making a boombap beat i'll do the drums first but if it is rnb or trap i'll do the melody first
Dope 🔥
MELODY FIRST FOR ME I CANT DO DRUMS FIRST
I feel you. I used to be like that, I thought it would lock me into a groove. Until I figured out how to create my own groove with the drums to build ANY melody around
Dope video, subbed and liked
🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Oooohhhh..... sooo dope.... blew my mind too bro! A banger indeed!
Thanks fam!! 🙏🏽💯

Yesssirrrrrr!!!! Appreciate that fam. 🙏🏽
Def Squad 98' definitely I'm drums first. My favourite beat you've ever created 🤞🏽💯
we all have the very same 'wuhhhh' moment..
hahahaha!!!
This beat came crazy,
DoPe man... much love for you
Like this nasty face 😂🤘🏻
AyE!
I wanna hear Black Thought and Rapsody collab on this for some reason. 🔥
i used to be sample first... now i just do both at same time...
Both at the same time? Explain. Lol
@@theycallmeheat lol... i go back and forth... so i may play out the chops on the pads just to get the pattern or the feel of the sample... but I won't record it... then with the idea of the chops in my head I lay down the drums.. lol makes sense no? I used to start out with sample first.. record it in then lay drums over it... but it's easier to play out chops to drums than it is to a metronome sound
That sample sound like something from Cirque du soleil....FL=For Life..
My process is I will listen to a sample/melody first. As I'm listening I'm thinking this part maybe good for an intro, verse, etc but overall I lay the drums first. I place the sample based on the groove of the drums. Dope beat by the way! I can hear Busta on that.
Wow, wow wow wow,. I gotta banga
😂😂😂
Bossa Nova is Brazilian
Really? Never knew that. Lol
hahah! incredible!
Ricardo!!!! 🙏🏽 thank you fam. Appreciate you watching. 💯
YOGA 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
appreciate you fam!!
Totally agree about the Open Hat. I was like daaaamn that is liiiit!!!
Thought this was Adrien Broner.

@@theycallmeheat 😂
Sample first
Word up!!
I sample the part i wanna use. Then I add the drums and after that i chop it. I think its easier to chop samples on top of drums
🔥🔥🔥💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks William!! 🙏🏽
Dope video man! I know you have that one vid. But it would be cool to see a " Rhythm roulette " video from you. Actually picking records and chopping them up on the spot ✊🏼🔥
Thanks fam!! 🙏🏽 I’ll def do my own Rhythm Roulette one day.
