Clare Castle parkrun 27.05.2023 | SCENIC HISTORIC CASTLE GROUNDS WITH RAILWAY ARCHITECTURE |

Dawn and John travel to Suffolk to take part in the Clare Castle parkrun. As well as finding the remains of an ancient castle, they discover lots of railway architecture and infrastructure still in place, despite the line being closed in 1967.
Perhaps ‪@TimGrose‬ will know if this is the most complete collection of railway remains on a parkrun course? Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun might run it close, as the name suggests.

It was quite chilly when we first arrived, but yes it soon, warmed up and the rest of the day was toasty. 🙂

Hi John and Dawn. Good to see you in my part of the country again. Clare Country Park is a great place. One of my daughters lives fairly close and we sometimes went there with her and the grandchildren. About 18 months ago, whilst they were at a panto, I did a short 3 mile run in the local area and uploaded a video "Trail Running: Clare Country Park" It was rather a dull, dreary day and some trails were very muddy and slippery. Good to see Dawn running well again after Covid. Take care.

Belated watch of this one and thanks for the shoutout! I don't think I have been here before but one to look forward to for sure. I have done Keswick parkrun which actually starts and finishes at the old station there and is certainly recognisable as one and all is trackbed with some recently repaired/rebuilt sections after being washed away in floods as I recall. I have also done Blandford which is mostly on the old trackbed but not a great deal to see as it were. Not done Tetbury Goods Shed. Have you?

Yes we did Tetbury Goods Shed. It was one of our early Vlogs so production was 'interesting'. An old Finnish railway carriage near the finish, as it were, from memory.
