    Thanks for the vid, definitely picked up a few useful things like the camp slippers would be awesome to have for the next backpacking trip.
    Also for anyone still wanting to have the benefit of a Garmin Inreach without paying £300+ an alternative I use is the AllTrails plus subscription(£30 per year) which has a Lifeline feature which allows you to setup emergency contacts that will have the ability to monitor where you are, you can also send updates to your emergency contacts, setup a date by which you are going to arrive to your destination if you go missing the app will send out an alert, a very useful thing to have but with 1 downside is that you periodically need to have cellular connection but worked out great for me so far and a nice little alternative to the Inreach

      Bought 6 pairs of darn toughs 3 and a bit years ago, not even the tiniest bit of wear, use them as everyday socks. They may well have a lifetime no quibble warranty, but i cant see me needing to use it in the next 10 years.

    Jamie, I suggest trying the cadillac of backpacks, it weighs 2.5kg but mate, I carried 16kg and it feels like nothing! It has a weight capacity if 27kg. They are renowned for comfort and high quality. I have all the usual backpacks, same as yerself. But this is the #1 for comfort and quality. You call it the Mystery Ranch Bridger 55L

      @@jamies_adventures there's a very unique way to fit the backpack. The load straps just need to be taught, not pulled tight to the point your shoulders get pulled back. And fitting the adjustable yoke system takes a bit of tweaking. I have a torso of 51cm long and my waist is 101cm. I choose the Large size and it fits perfectly. This bag will come with me on the WHW and hopefully after that, the CWT :-)
      Great gear video btw! Good WHW video too.

    A lot of very useful kit there, however, a lot of us cannot afford the huge costs of that equipment, so yea, useful information that gives you an idea, but like I said, a lot of us will have to make do with the cheapest versions. Camp slippers for example retail for £45 onwards. There are other ideas, such as ordinary flip flops or sliders, also Marino wool socks are expensive, I bought a pair that are 85% Marino wool and paid £15 for them. I too have the Osprey Atmos 65 AG and paid £268 for it, admittedly it’s a brilliant rucksack and I used it on the Cumbria way national trail. The dry bags you use are the same ones I have and like you, I have colour coded my equipment (Red bags (stop) for sleeping equipment, green bags (go) for things I would use whilst hiking, yellow bags for admin). 😊

    • @jamies_adventures
      @jamies_adventures  9 місяців тому +1

      Hi. Yes, I agree to buy everything at once would be expensive. Most of this gear is things I’ve had for quite a while, just a few bits purchased for just this trip (but then I have them for other trips going forward). Thanks for the comment and watching the video! JG :-)

    Hi, I see lots of people mention these reflective mats, yet no-one seems to have the faintest idea about the R-value, which isn't even mentioned on the Highlander web page. Cardboard (as any homeless person will tell you) is an excellent lightweight insulator, less expensive, and might well be better! Not a criticism, just an observation. enjoyed the vid! atb Sinco

    • @jamies_adventures
      @jamies_adventures  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. And yes agreed! I think the main reason is that cardboard would easily get wet and would possibly be bulky to carry. The reflective mat weighs basically nothing and can be thrown around in the wet and shoved in a bag easily. Have a good week. JG

    Hi very good and informative. The one thing you didn’t mention is the weight of your pack id be interested to see plus it’s good learning for you.
    when i first started doing multi days i’d always weight my pack and then weigh it again with the things I didn’t use take out.😂
    I’m doing the Great Glen way for the 3rd time the 1st week November can’t wait

    • @jamies_adventures
      @jamies_adventures  5 місяців тому

      Yes definitely. Of course Scotland being Scotland, there's always a bit of chance in the weather being dodgy. But March for the WHW should be no problem at all. Better than summer in my opinion. Enjoy! :-)

    I owned the Osprey Kestrel, and use the Atmos 50, right now!
    I will never ever buy an Osprey again, period!
    I just bought an Montane Trailblazer 30 and will get the Lundhags Padje Light 44 and the 60l version, soon!
    Osprey has to rethink their Backpack Designs, they're a mess!
    They got the best Carrysystem but the rest is a mess!
    Especially the side Hip pockets!😂😂
    Its a mess to fill them because of the Frameshape inside, it cant stand straight and many other little issues!
    Byebye Osprey!
