It was literally this dudes shit in a bunch of cans and they sold for millions! They are still considered high value art pieces and were praised for being “Shock art” and “redefined what art is” blah blah blah. I made the connection to Bath Water bc Delphine herself said that the Gamer Girl bath water wasn’t meant to be viewed as a product and more of a shock art/performance art piece. The point in all of this was that poopman got rich and was praised for his shock art, and Delphine was highly criticized for it (although she did benefit from it financially) to the point of people actively trying to get her social media accounts banned. That’s the gist of it but I did have to define the term “egirl” in an academic paper lmao

Imagine my disappointment to see that they cost the same (if not more) than other pride flags and it was just hidden in the shipping cost.

fun fact about luxury giveaways they are very commom in brazil, not so much with luxury bags but with actual money, makeup and iphones (iphones are like THE SHIT here, specially with the ecomony basically dieying rn), we call the influencers/celebrities who do it the "giveway mafia" (máfia dos sorteios), because it IS a scam, it´s actually a very complex scam, like you said, they are HUGE, and no one knows anyone who ever won one of those giveaways. It's very commom for the giveaway to be "the newest iphone and a table full of new makeup" for beauty and fashion influencers, or " the newest iphone OR the cost in actual money of the iphone", that will be transfered to the winner account when the target audience of the giveway host is a jake paul/ricegum audience. Note: giving away money is HIGHLY ILLEGAL, and every giveway needs to be regulated by a specific regulatory agency from the government Basically, here's how the scam works: there's a "parent" marketing company that offers smallers companies "quotas" to participate in the giveaway of this huge influencer, they will be the company that the person will need to follow in order to be eligible to win the giveway, so each company pays, for example, 5k in order to participate. With the money of the quotas from the companies, the parent company pays the price of the sponsored giveway post from the influencer, because the prize itself is pocket money for the parent company. The other 60-something companies often get a bad deal, and end up with a ghost following, because the new followers that they get from the giveway exposure, don't really care about them or their content, and unfollow shortly after the giveway ends or don't ever interact with them. When choosing the winners the scam gets even more complex, they claim they will use a random program that will choose a comment under the giveaway post, but its *never* the influecer who livestreams the process, it's always the shady parent company, so the people who entered never actually remember to check the livestream. When you check the parent company's profile it's always a huge following number, but very low engagement, which means ghost/bought following. Also, more often than not, the parent company manages the influencers thats hosting the giveway. When it comes to the winners themselves, it's ALWAYS a account that's been created recently, and normally it belongs to someone from the parent company so the prizes stay "in the family", it's a scam for everyone but the huge influencers and the parent company. These influencers sometines charge 200k+ per post and after the giveway is due, delete the post. This is SO COMMOM here that some of them have side accounts only for giveways. Also, like i said, these types of giveway are illegal here in brazil, and when an newer influecer goes viral sometimes they get scammed by the companies that "offer" those giveways. IMO Belle Delphine should have probably gone in the "no effort just vibes" tier because like… i barely even consider it a scam. The “it’s free, just pay for shipping” scam is the WORST. One of the most infuriating versions of this that I encountered was a company selling Pride flags using this method. At the time, I was a gaybie and was in the phase of buying lots of pride merchandise because it was the only way to express myself while in the closet. So of course upon seeing “Free pride flags” I was going to click on the ad. Imagine my disappointment to see that they cost the same (if not more) than other pride flags and it was just hidden in the shipping cost.
I would switch Belle Delphine's "Gamer Girl Bathwater" and Caroline Calloway's writing workshop. I'm not even sure I agree the former is a scam, tbh. The guys who forked over $30 for a jar of allegedly used bathwater knew what they were getting. Caroline's fans didn't and when sh*t hit the fan, she tried to gaslight them live on social media.

People paid £50 for 12 little doors which included; a pen, a little notebook, some glitter, a candle, a fluffy keychain, a spray and other more stuff that you could honestly get straight from the poundshop. I have no problem with a £50 calandar, IF you get what you pay for. Not little knick knacks.

they are very commom in brazil, not so much with luxury bags but with actual money, makeup and iphones (iphones are like THE SHIT here, specially with the ecomony basically dieying rn), we call the influencers/celebrities who do it the "giveway mafia" (máfia dos sorteios), because it IS a scam, it´s actually a very complex scam, like you said, they are HUGE, and no one knows anyone who ever won one of those giveaways. It's very commom for the giveaway to be "the newest iphone and a table full of new makeup" for beauty and fashion influencers, or " the newest iphone OR the cost in actual money of the iphone", that will be transfered to the winner account when the target audience of the giveway host is a jake paul/ricegum audience. Note: giving away money is HIGHLY ILLEGAL, and every giveway needs to be regulated by a specific regulatory agency from the government Basically, here's how the scam works: there's a "parent" marketing company that offers smallers companies "quotas" to participate in the giveaway of this huge influencer, they will be the company that the person will need to follow in order to be eligible to win the giveway, so each company pays, for example, 5k in order to participate. With the money of the quotas from the companies, the parent company pays the price of the sponsored giveway post from the influencer, because the prize itself is pocket money for the parent company. The other 60-something companies often get a bad deal, and end up with a ghost following, because the new followers that they get from the giveway exposure, don't really care about them or their content, and unfollow shortly after the giveway ends or don't ever interact with them. When choosing the winners the scam gets even more complex, they claim they will use a random program that will choose a comment under the giveaway post, but its *never* the influecer who livestreams the process, it's always the shady parent company, so the people who entered never actually remember to check the livestream. When you check the parent company's profile it's always a huge following number, but very low
engagement, which means ghost/bought following. Also, more often than not, the parent company manages the influencers thats hosting the giveway. When it comes to the winners themselves, it's ALWAYS a account that's been created recently, and normally it belongs to someone from the parent company so the prizes stay "in the family", it's a scam for everyone but the huge influencers and the parent company. These influencers sometines charge 200k+ per post and after the giveway is due, delete the post. This is SO COMMOM here that some of them have side accounts only for giveways. Also, like i said, these types of giveway are illegal here in brazil, and when an newer influecer goes viral sometimes they get scammed by the companies that "offer" those giveways. There's a running joke here that a iphone giveway it's basically baptism for influencers in brazil. thanks for coming to my ted talk. sorry for any mistakes, clearly english is not my first language.
