Can’t agree more..... funny for the time I’m sure but he wouldn’t get a slot at a working mans club these days ...... I’m sure in 30 years the same will be said about today’s comics by people not to be born for another 20 years yet
Strictly Casual it was the era of “light entertainment”. Jimmy was inoffensive and reliable enough and could work on kids TV or on shows like this. A friend of mine actually worked with him and said Jimmy was extremely kind and spent hours chatting with the staff & acts. My mate, who was the Comic on the bill, said Jimmy took time to check they weren’t telling the same gags and even suggested a few old jokes he might want to try. Not my kind of comedy but it takes all sorts
@@tombstoneharrystudios584 I don't doubt for a second he wasn't a gent or top of his game at the time, but my point was just how comedy as we know it has moved on drastically to back then, I can't see Jimmy even being known these days considering his status then
@@thedr.feelgood I'm not so sure we do....like who for instance? I'm not saying JC is fantastic or something but I can't really think of many *new* comedians who are actually that funny
I saw him at butlins in Minehead He did a 2 hour show and it was very good I sneaked into the 2nd show another 2 hours and completely different material... He had lots of jokes....
@@skoot2u I think cannon and ball were probably the best act I've seen I used to go every year to butlins Saw hale and pace... Not so good... Tom O'connor terrible And the rest were singers I didn't like
apparently.jimmy had been offered the job to do bullseye ,but Jim Bowen got his agent to jump the cue...the show would of been so much better, apprently he use to hang around with the punk rock band the clash..he had tried to join the Irish punk band stiff little fingers..what a dude
Some people like lots of salt some like lots of sugar I prefer a good comedian.... And Jimmy was good Don't forget he was mainly on children's TV... Bernard Manning wouldn't fit the bill Anyway that's my taste... I think you like a lot of shit.... Cos Bernard Manning is shit....
@@imbatman2868 You are right about Jimmy appearing on the children's shows frequently, probably best, as his act was so poor, even the children struggled to laugh.
Classic. You don't get wholesome comedians like this anymore.
Thankfully now , we have funny ones.

When comedy was comedy and not like the rubbish we have today only Peter Kay can match these
I saw him with my dad in about 1988, when I was around 10. It was the first time I saw a strobe light!
He was amazing!!!

I’m amazed that some people consider this infantile shit to be comedy, I suppose it’s what you get used to when you holiday at Pontins.
