- PROBLEM BRIEF:
Two channels are welded at the tip of their flanges to form a box column. The column is also fixed at both ends and laterally supported at the midheight of its weak axis. How do you compute the effective slenderness ratio of the column buckling about the y and x-axis, the critical buckling load, and the safe load?

Sir, will we still encounter problems in our board exam that will use the 2001 Code? In our senior year, we were using the 2015 Code and the formulas used in steel design (especially for flexure) in the 2001 Code are somewhat different from what we're used to. Should we start browsing the 2001 Code na po ba? Thank you po. More power.
