Just picked up a 99 RG350DX with upgraded pups (SD Invader/Classic Strat/Jazz combo) and electronics from a pawn shop in near mint. Different of course than my RG550, but I like it nearly as much. Great guitar for the price.
My only guitar for most of the last decade and still one I reach for most often is an Indonesian built RGR321EX that I picked up in a pawn shop for £80, replaced the pickups with a cap vm in the neck from a premium model and the bridge got a dimarzio d-sonic, new saddles, it’s covered in stickers to hide some ugly marks where a previous owners scratched it up badly. But it’s built like a tank and been a constant in my adult life, wouldn’t trade it for the world
A good friend of mine got himself an RG370DX when I was just starting with a cheap strat copy. I played it quite a bit at his house when we were just playing games or jamming. I fell in love with that guitar. The Wizard 2 fit my hand very well and and I knew then I'd be upgrading to an Ibanez when I could. Ended up getting a barely used S520EX in metallic grey flat made in Korea, served me well and played a lot of shows with it. Changed the INF1 and INF2 to an EMG 81 and 85 as I mainly used that guitar in a metalcore band from age 14/15 to 25. Getting back into it after 2 or 3 years of mainly playing acoustic and I am falling in love with my 3 Ibanez once again.
I always watch out 4 important things. 1. Type of woods they use for neck. 2. Type of woods they use for body.( by knocking on the body). To rule out cheap plywood or chipboard equivalent). These woods always sounds loud/hollow or plastic like. 3. Type of frets they used 4. Constructions of neck join. I hate to say this but some higher range low end guitar by famous brand, have unbelievable aweful neck join. Worksmanship/qc thing between countries is a hit and miss thing. Electronic parts can be upgraded anytime.
I have a 470dx, 270dx, and currently building a custom star destroyer copy with a 350dx neck in tribute to EVH and Dimebag. Giving it the dimebuckers and evh bumble bee paint job.
I found a 2002 RG270 made in Korea, ILT1 tremolo. The seller said he basically stored away after a couple playing a couple times. Should I get it? It looks basically flawless besides some rusty screws
I don't have much experience with ILT / Lo-TRs (it's same family) bridges, but big fan of Korean Ibbies. They great value for $. If you like it, take it :)
I have a 2001 Ibanez RG220b with a single locking slt101 tremolo. I really enjoy how it plays but I cant seem to find alot of information on it. Especially the tremolo specifications. I love your channel!!!
SLT101 is interesting beast. It does look like double locking trem, but the strings are not locked on the bridge site, they are only strung through it. The part number for this trem is: 2SL1C12C, maybe that will help find some more information :)
Hey man! since you have great knowledge on Edge tremolos, What do you think would be a direct swap for edge 2 pro tremolo other than the original edge pro? Any Gotohs?
Do you know what back panel it takes I got one from a pawn shop I like it but it’s missing the back panel to cover the springs it’s the jewel blue one if that makes a difference
@@avacadodragon7618 Mine is 138mm x 86mm (so something like 5 7/16" by 3 3/8" in freedom units). Couldn't find exact part number, but when buying pay attention to the screw wholes patterns. They seem to be different for different factories.
Great info again! I've always played other brands of guitar Yamaha-Fender-Kramer etc. I've been around Ibanez for years seen them at guitar centers but never wanted to picked one up and played it to give it chance until I recently got this Jem Jr. So if this is mid level guitar something upgraded or higher end? I think I want another one the necks are super fast for shredding.
@@Ibbyhead don't worry about that (my ears are in perfect condition) but you should worry bout ur clean tone and starting to upload more cuz ur videos are interesting and i see u haven't been uploading in awhile
@@Mihail2304 I'm glad you're ok! Yeah, I've been battling some health issues that prevented me from playing guitars for nearly half a year. But as you rightly point out, guitar playing is not the strongest value of this channel. I have two new videos in the pipeline right now :)
Great video Michal! I learned a lot from this!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks Benjamin!

Nice! Pickup swap and some work on frets usually improve those guitars immensely. Congratulations!

Cool stuff! Big fan of Indos too!

Those S520EXs were really cool!
I got a white Rg350Dx with the ibz/dmarzio pick ups, they are decent guitars, you can use them live without any fear.
Fully agree!

Very good points. As you say, hardware and electronics can be easily upgraded if the wood " base" is solid.

What a cool project! I dig star destroyers. Thanks for commenting!

Neck specs are almost identical to the Jem!
It is very similar dimension wise, Jem having slightly flatter fretboard (17" vs 16").

GE1996T is very often used as a replacement.

Do you need a part's number or dimensions? I have my original, so I could measure it, but would need to dig a bit deeper into part's number :)
@@Ibbyhead if you could measure it that would be fine thanks and maybe tell me which one to order thanks

@@Ibbyhead ok thanks
Btw i own a Korean made Ibanez S470QS from 2000 and its even better than my Rg350Dx, if you see one cheap BUY it!
Korean Sabers are also kick ass! Good point!

JEM JR is around mid-tier. They are quite good, but no-way comparable to Japanese made JEMs. Enjoy your Ibanez!
You should work on your clean tone. It's giving me ear cancer.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm really sorry this happened to you. I hope you'll recover quickly
