Improve Your Film Photos With This!

Shooting film is a cool way to capture nostalgic, vintage-like photos, but getting the most out of all your film can be quite a challenge. Especially when you compare photos from the same camera or film stock to some photos you see online, it's easy to get discourage and think that film photography is just not for you. Use your local library, I’m fortunate to have a great public library system in San Francisco and can get almost any photo book I want. Being able to check the decisive moment by Henri Cartier Bresson really helped me figure out photography when I started. Also getting engaged in your local film community, find meet ups, go to galleries, and find out if people are creating zines or magazines. That will help out you by being next to other creative people and bring the best out in you.

A big go-to for me lately has been to capture the FEELING vs "the moment". We can get so hung up at times wishing for perfect scenarios to align, but the feeling you first got when stopping to take the image, maybe trying to capture that is more valuable.

Honestly, though there's a "debate" about whether or not to edit your film photos, that can make a HUGE difference and get you in love with photos that would otherwise have looked a bit dull. After 4 years shooting film, I've only recently started using Lightroom and I'm not going back! I also do darkroom color prints but that's a whole nother process. Love your videos!
