My brother got one brand new and he still has it. The entire family rode it and it is IDENTICAL to this one. All original and unmolested. Thats a factory Aluminum gas tank as well....
I had one in’77. A sleek narrow little bike . It had a VERY narrow power band so you were constantly rowing the shifter. When you were off the pipe it made no power. The last year of the beautiful aluminum tanks with a nice two stage paint job and the only year of those funky air tanks on the front forks. My only mod was a UNI air filter. The stock air box was flimsy and leaked air. I was 5’11” at 137 lbs and this bike was perfect for me. A great bike and I was the only kid on the block with a YZ175. Bought it from a guy that rode it once, it scared him and sold it to me, minty fresh. I drove it until I wore it out. Next owner rode it for two weeks and had to split the case and replace the main bearings.
I loved that bike as a kid! It was a fantasy to me! It was a special era for Yamaha and I'll never forget the looks and the sounds of that time. Just enough silencer!
Wow,talk about a blast from the past. When we moved to Southern illinois back in 76 from Maryland(Close to BuddsCreek)I met 2 brothers that both raced(i was in the 80 class),and They both had just gotten new yammies.older Brother had the YZ-175,younger brother raced a YZ-100 and it was so awesome because they had a small track very close to my house and they let me Ride with them on my 80.They also told us where all the moto tracks were and stuff like that.good times back then.
Este Modelo expetacular yo vi correr en motocross la modelo 250 con esas pesas en el manurio y me impactada el sonido grave al acelerarla .por el sonido tan power tremenda
That is one gorgeous vintage motocrosser. I wasn't aware that Yamaha made YZ 175's. I love the vintage black and white block graphics on the gas tank. This bike will sell very quickly.
Less aggressive rake makes these stable at any speed you are willing to go, they were excellent woods / trail / farm / backroads bikes, put many many hours on a YZ 100, and YZ 125 back in the day...
The 76 YZ175 was the bike l've always wanted in those days , an older guy that l later rode with had one & kept it on his front porch , l was the paperboy in town so l rode my 20 in bicycle w/ aphangers to carry my bag of papers past his house every day & l would just stare at it , l was saving my route money to buy my lst dirtbike & as a kid l wanted a motocross bike but dad said l'd hurt myself on one but would agree to let me buy a new leftover 74 Yam DT100A so l just never ended up getting one or any YZ , turned out l was an RM guy & my lst real bike was a 77 RM125B , but l still think of that YZ175 to this day .
Super cool! Those were like new Yamis with the WiFi. The only difference was you had to have one of those crazy curly phone cords that stretched to the garage. You rotaryied the ecu # and then tuned it like that. Yamis have always been cutting edge
@@KaplanCycles Numbers don't dictate rarity. NVT built less than 400 Ariel 3s and they aren't rare bikes. Something like a Bimota YB7 may be rare, but none of these YZs are.
yep 1 year only back in 78 my buddy bought one of these used from our local yamaha dealer well his parents bought it the next day he crashed it hard so his parents took it back to the dealer and got him a new 1978 dt 175 i was not there to see him dump it but was told he looped it in 3rd gear true story
The white Mx version with the laid down twin shocks . Maybe more rare . I got passed by one of those racing my 74 yz125 . With low sweep skyway pipe . 😎
It will never happen but how about a rebirth of the 175 2T and let them race with the 250 4T class. And take me back to the days of RM100 vs YZ100 that would be a cool video.
Does everyone else have a smile on their face for the whole length of these videos? :) Love it!

The YZ 125 is sweet but the 175 is the hot ticket. One of the coolest bikes ever made.
Wow. Great bikes. I too had the mx 100 and 175, rode the crap out of them everyday. They never gave up. Those were the days.
Awesome graphics and colors.
Yamaha should go back to that classic look.
Perfect specimen!
Those 175's were interesting engines!

Wow, I never knew Yamaha made a yz 175!
Yeah I never did either. 😮
Ahh the memories, these were the bikes I dreamed of owning, instead of getting my older brothers hand me downs.

You finally got some real bikes on there Yamaha rules!!!!
You got that right!

Those were badass loved the black and yellow old school colors
Feast your 👀 on the MIC 🎤‼️🥳. We need more MIC TOSS ‼️ Hells Yah❤ 😊
Working on it!
Yamaha was way ahead of their time.
Absolutely beautifull when the competition smelt so good
The lord Jesus Christ and his father rode those bikes back in the ‘70’s…what amazing historic pieces these are!
👍🇺🇸 I friend rode Yamaha and I rode the Suzuki.
Great Days in America 🇺🇸
The 175 was the first race bike I bought new! I loved that thing, wish I never sold it!
76 only year yz175 very rare

I wonder if that was me. I kept my YZ 175 on the front porch.
Iol if you were very small town lndiana & named Duane then you may have .
I rode the snot out of a 175mx dual shock, more power than the frame and suspension could handle but a blast to ride.
Sounds really good
Wow! Those are cool! I have never seen the YZ175. I had a 1969 CT1 175. It dominated the 250 Novice class in 1970. LOL
I rode a 1976 ya 80 great bike lots of memories
I had the MX175 too, it was my first dirt bike. My brother had the IT175. Dad got them $400 for both bikes. My MX175 was white so was the IT
I have a 76 YZ80. Even has DG pipe.
Another pair of bikes that look like they're straight out of a time machine.
I wish the manufacturers made a 175cc 2stroke.
Super cool!

They can't be that rare as I've owned two of them in the past few years.
1 of 1501 made. The MOST rare of 76 yz's. "You really should have known!"
@@KaplanCycles do I recall a Paul Krause aka MKIA from dirt bike magazine quote?

Im in Australia, whats a GroundHog?
The yz100 was the same physical size as the yz125 rite? The 100 was a full size bike?
Correct, full size..
You guys rule best motorcycles ever all the time. Awesome thank you for the videos and have a great day Moto on 🎃☘️🤘🇺🇸⚡️⚡️
I had the 1976 yz100

my other buddy had the 76 yz 125
that is gorgeous!
My eyes are feasted 😍😍
Top old bike's
Love it dude
I loved the yz and the
I could never work out why they made a 175 when in mx racing there was 125 and 250 class
The white Mx version with the laid down twin shocks . Maybe more rare . I got passed by one of those racing my 74 yz125 . With low sweep skyway pipe . 😎
There are less yz175's than the mx125c that you are talking about but still both are pretty rare.
Never heard of a yz175, and i had an it175
Man that's a rare bird. Damnnnñn
NICE! Purrs like a Kitten
man I wanted one of those so bad in '76. The 80cc YZ or RM 80 cause I was only a youngster.

Heikki Mikkola
Loving the mic toss 🎤 on the regular 😊

Just looked at at your bikes for sale didn't see the 125x
